‘Uncharted’ – the film
Actor Chris Pratt passes on the opportunity of playing lead character, Nathan Drake
Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt has reportedly passed on the chance to play Nathan Drake; the lead character in Naughty Dog’s infamous Uncharted series, which is currently in development.
The Hollywood Reporter, a news publication, says that the role of Drake had been offered to Pratt but he passed it on for reasons that are currently unknown. Mark Wahlberg was originally eyed for the part but later dropped out. This was when David O. Russell was attached to the project. The movie is now going to be directed by ‘Horrible Bosses’ and ‘Identity Thief’ director Seth Gordon, with Mark Boal who has come aboard for the screenplay. Boal has been rumoured to be a big fan of the Uncharted series.
Gordon outlined his wishes earlier this year on what it is exactly that he’s looking for from an actor to play Drake: “I want it to be a great actor,” he said in July. “That’s number one, and then if it’s someone who has an actual jaw, that’s even better. The game is so well done that you need it to live up to that. There’s no way we’d do the inverse of that where it’s somebody famous who can’t [act].”
I wonder who’ll end up playing that handsome rogue?! Keep your peepers peeled for more information when it arises!
