Super Mario Party will have its own demo stations installed in certain IKEA and Holiday Inn hotspots across China in something that can only be described as an unprecedented partnership.
Where’s the Mario Super Party at?
Nintendo, Tencent, IKEA, and Holiday Inn have come together in a truly unique collaboration to enter the Chinese market. They will be bringing Super Mario Party to hotel visitors, both in the lobbies and in visitor rooms, as well as IKEA showrooms via Nintendo Switches.
Nikos Partners industry analyst Daniel Ahmad shared this piece of news via Twitter with pictures of what the layouts are expected to look like. There will be 24 Holiday Inn locations and 12 IKEA locations that will allow guests to play Super Mario Party for free or have a Nintendo Switch in their room. This promotion will last until the end of August.
12 Ikea locations have also converted show rooms to a Super Mario Party theme and let people play the game during their shopping experience.
Both promotions are running between now and August 31.

Why Super Mario Party?
One question you might be asking yourself is why is this collaboration happening?
Well, there are several reasons. The first and most simple one is Nintendo wanting to enter the Chinese market. China doesn’t have a video gaming culture like Japan or the US so the company has a standing agreement with Tencent to help sell Switch consoles in China due to the challenges they face daring such a feat.
The reason IKEA and Holiday Inn are involved is due to domestic tourism climbing across the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic limiting international travel. It’s the perfect opportunity for a cross-promotion within the hotel industry. Having Super Mario Party in regular places like Holiday Inn and IKEA can also help introduce what Nintendo offers.
I mean, who doesn’t love to discover the mystical land that is IKEA?
As for why it’s only Super Mario Party being offered in these locations, it’s a very easy and fun game to promote to families, couples, or even for people to enjoy by themself, let alone one of the latest releases by Nintendo. Yet if this partnership is successful, Super Mario Party might not be the only game they introduce like this.
If you want to be able to enjoy playing a free game outside the comfort of your own (no, this isn’t a competition to be able to travel to China), why not visit our shop in Centrale, Croydon? With the ability to play on Nintendo Switch and PS5 for free, it might be up to par with what China has to offer.
