The Epic Games Store has launched its ‘Mega Sale‘ with a massive discount on more than 1,600 games!!!!!!!!!!!!

This Promotion will run for the next 4 weeks up until June 16th.

Epic has announced that over 1,600 games and add-ons with discounts of up to 75%. To borrow a (currently unreleased) quote from my upcoming personal blog post, “I do love a good farce”, so sit down and strap on as I tell you a tale from the annals of Elden Ring!

The year is twenty-two and twenty, a decently-sunny yet chilly March morn. Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West released back-to-back, Sifu was fun, one of my blogs was sent to the big-mandem at Nintendo. This is the setting in which we fall upon our hero, a professional Redditeer by the monicer u/xdc_lis, who shall henceforth be referred to as Lizzie Marvel!

Twas a common pastime of trolls and ne’er do wells to invade the worlds of their fellow virtual countrymen and perform acts of varying moral fortitude on them. This usually comes in the form of players “invading” each other’s worlds, be it for cooperation, a duel or dishonorable assassination attempts!

While farming for in-game souls (experience points), our epic protagonist Lizzie spotted a far away rival player seeking to inflict death and destruction!

Luckily for Lizzie, they were adorned in the fashion of nearby NPCs (non-playable characters), so with quick-thinking and shrewd intellect, they drew no weapon except a trusty torch and walked up and down the pasture! The hunt was on and an impostor was… Among Us!

Our deadly invader searched high and low for Lizzie, not unlike every pro-monarchist when the Queen had to “enter a new phase“!

Lizzie’s mega-minded strategy of hiding in plain sight was a success and the invader soon left, never to return again.

Innersloth launch a huge new update on Among Us bringing many new additions and features that will excite players.

Among Us has always been an easy-to-play game with simple customisations and settings; that being one of the main reasons for its’ success. Innersloth have been planning on making new changes for a while, starting off with bringing the fun game to consoles (PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S). With this huge update being the huge step up in change with us believing the release on console is the reasoning behind this.

In a blog on the Innersloth website, the blog titled ‘New Roles & Cosmicubes’. It mentions the introduction of roles with 4 roles being available now, 3 of which being for Crewmates with 1 being an Imposter role. The Scientist role which reads “Access vitals at any time. Complete tasks to recharge your battery.”. Second Crewmate role is the Engineer which allows you as a Crewmate to use vents. Last Crewmate role and maybe the most exciting is the Guardian Angel which allows a player to save another player from death before an Imposter attempts to kill. The one Imposter role is the Shapeshifter which allows Imposters to disguise themselves as other on-board Crewmates. With these being released with this update, we do not believe these will be the last set of roles introduced.

Innersloth also released an exciting trailer showcasing the new update with the new features and additions.

More into the blog, Cosmicubes were mentioned and explained. Cosmicubes being “Special cosmetic cubes that have themed items you unlock via a branching path. These items tend to be more special or detailed. Different Cosmicubes are bought using Beans or Stars, but their contents can only be unlocked by earning Pods through gameplay.”

Lastly in the blog, the addition of achievements and account linking is spoken about, stating “Achievements will be available on platforms that have them!”. Also adding on about account linking, “New items and XP means a need to be able to aggregate and link your Among Us account to different platforms! For most platforms, you’ll be able to log in, link, and save your progress and cosmetics using the same account.”

With this update being available now, next thing to look out for from Innersloth and Among Us is the release on console which will take place December 14^th. Innersloth will look to add more things in the future to keep the Among Us community happy; so, continue looking out for more updates and news on additions.

Among Us confirm via Twitter the set release date on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S

Innersloth, the games developers announce Among Us will launch December 14^th on the listed consoles. Among Us is finally coming to console with the social deduction game being highly demanded for on console by the console community. Months of speculations with fans unsure on how it will work on console, Innersloth finally confirm a date for launch.

Innersloth plan to keep Among Us as a cross-platform game allowing PlayStation and Xbox players to play with one another alongside Mobile and PC players. This comes as somewhat a surprise as not many games are cross-platform; with the ones that are normally only crossing with PlayStation, Xbox and PC, not Mobile.

Innersloth stated “On December 14th, 2021, Among Us will be launching digitally on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Game Pass for Console, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5,” via a blog post. Later adding “Cross play will be on both platforms”.

Among Us is a social deduction game, heavily influenced by the well-known game, Mafia. Among Us being released June 2018 with it skyrocketing early pandemic and becoming 2020’s most downloaded mobile game.

Among Us prospered off the back of Twitch and YouTube streamers playing along with their friends with the game being very enjoyable to spectate. Among Us even bringing a rise to many of the people’s favourite streamers to date.

Among Us had reportedly attracted half a billion active monthly users in November 2020 according to SuperData.

With the simplicity and different dynamic being the main reasons for its attraction, Innersloth have been making additions to its gem of a game. Adding new maps, onto the fourth and adding adjustments to allow the game to be played in various ways. Innersloth have previously stated plans to bring a new map, hide and seek mode and to add visor cosmetics.

Innersloth announce plans on releasing different versions physical copies of Among Us at certain dates. Among Us: Crewmate Edition is set to in stores in Europe and UK on December 14^th with the US release being later in January for around $30. Among US: Impostor Edition, $50, and Among Us: Ejected Edition, $90, are set for spring release.

Among Us is available on iOS, Android devices and PC. Among Us: Crewmate Edition will be released December 14^th on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

Epic Games finally credited Among Us for its Imposters mode on Fortnite, and it’s left us hopefully with a lot more than we expected…

Earlier this year, Epic Games announced Fortnite would be receiving a new social deduction mode, titled Imposters, that sounded almost exactly like the extremely popular indie game, Among Us. 

Fans called Epic Games out (as well as members of InnerSloth the team behind Among Us) for the blatant plagiarism and after two months, Fortnite has finally credited the whodunnit game in its new update.

Imposters on Fortnite

If you aren’t aware, the Imposters mode on Fortnite consists of 10 players, 8 agents and 2 imposters. It takes place on The Bridge, a large multi-room environment in which agents are trying to keep it maintained while imposters are trying to destroy it without getting caught and whenever a dead body is found, chaos irrupts as everyone who is still alive tries to figure out who the imposters are.

So, very Among Us-esque.

The credit to Among Us came very subtly in a tweet from the official Fortnite account that informed followers of the new updates the Imposters mode has received. The new update for the deduction minigame includes features such as “Role Bias”, which gives you a better chance of getting the role you want between Agent and Imposter, and “Open Voice Chat Playlist”, which gives you a better chance to discuss your suspicions between teammates.

The official Twitter account for Among Us then replied it what could be a very cool, yet maybe a slightly pre-planned marketing tweet that launched a thread conversation between the two brands which discussed the possibility of the two games collaborating together in the near future.

While we have no idea if this will be announced officially any time soon, it’s nice to see a big video game like Fortnite realise its mistake and give credit to independent games it took inspiration from.

No matter how big a game from an independent studio might get, it will always be behind games produced by multinational corporations so it is really important companies credit those games when they receive inspiration from them.

The previously niche indie game Among Us by Innersloth exploded in popularity over the pandemic. It’s been a great way to have fun with friends and strangers alike from two different screens.

While the hype has died down a bit, it’s still prevalent for its robust fundamental approach to the social deduction genre. At the moment, it is available on PC, mobile, and Nintendo Switch. 

Understandably, many players are excited to see Among Us hit PlayStation and Xbox Platforms. It was first announced for Xbox consoles at the end of 2020 and confirmed that the game would be joining the Game Pass catalogue. PlayStation’s announcement followed a few months after in April 2021.

Innersloth has since discussed server issues and revealed that the game’s console versions will be released by the end of 2021. This is later than initially intended, as the game was designed to launch this October. Innersloth has not given a specific date yet, as their ideal release date was supposedly in September. 

Delays to video game development are widespread due to the pandemic. Thankfully, most gamers have understood this. Hopefully, Innersloth can take their time creating an excellent port for the PlayStation and Xbox. In the meantime, the game is available on mobile and PC, making it reasonably accessible to everyone.

Fortnite announced a new limited edition mode yesterday, titled “Imposters“, and it has been reminding people of the popular indie game Among Us, developed and published by InnerSloth.

So much so that even the development team behind the extremely successful whodunnit game have been publically tweeting the similarities between their game and the new mode created by Epic Games.

Fortnite: Imposters

The new Imposters mode is available to play now for a limited time only and consists of 10 players, 8 agents and 2 imposters. Of course, there are certain elements that make it more Fortnite than Among Us- you can make both agents and imposters temporarily look like Fortnite’s banana mascot Peely for example, but the similarities are uncanny.

Several members of the Among Us development team took to Twitter to compare those similarities and also explain how disappointed they are with the plagiarism portrayed here.

Among Us programmer Gary Porter pointed out the similarities between the two environments and sarcastically mentioned how it was okay since they flipped certain rooms around to make it now a full rip-off of the hit indie game.

The community director, Victoria Tran, also tweeted to express how disappointed she was and that a collaboration between Epic Games would have been better instead.

Despite the international success Among Us became last year, it still is an indie game in the world of big gaming franchises. And even though there are plenty of other games similar to Among Us (Werewolf / Mafia), it is understandable why the development team are upset with Epic Games using the same themes and terminology.

One of the most surprising highs during the global pandemic was the multiplayer deduction game Among Us, which was originally released in 2018, soared to new heights with its rapid popularity increase.

Now, publisher Maximum Games have released a preview of the collector’s editions that will be released later this year.

Among Us Collector’s Editions

Imposters and crewmates alike will be able to collect three different versions of the whodunnit game for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Each edition will be packed full of goodies which we will rundown here for you. Each version includes the game and all the DLCs. No release date has been announced, only that the collector’s editions will come out later this year.

Crewmate Edition

The first version is the Crewmate Edition is priced at $30 (est. £22). It includes a 3-D lenticular case, stickers, holographic access cards, a poster, and exclusive downloadable content.

Imposter Edition

The second version is the Imposter Edition is priced at $50 (est. £36) and comes with everything included in the Crewmate Edition, plus a purple crewmate plush, a lanyard, enamel pin, and a limited edition Imposter Edition box.

Ejected Edition

And lastly, the final version is the Ejected Edition priced at $90 (est. £65). It comes with everything included with the previous editions, as well as a crewmate fleece and imposter beanie.

Among Us Updates

As well as the collector’s editions announcement, Innersloth also announced a new update for the online game, fixing several bugs, introducing a new task, and adding new language settings!

The new task will see players clean out the vents the imposters use to transverse the map. While it is being cleaned out, imposters will be unable to use it and if an imposter is already in there, they will be dramatically revealed, making some tense interactions between the crew.

The new languages on offer are Traditional and Simplified Chinese, as well as Irish; the first major title to be officially translated into Gaelige and is considered a win for the Irish community for helping to keep the minority language alive.
