Fair warning ladies, gents and themts, besides a few days ago, I haven’t touched Apex Legends since Season 11 days just before or after The Great Glitchfest of Apex… Featuring David Attenborough.

But hey, I like working with what I have and giving the best I can from that: There’s a laptop in front of me, a couple tutorial tabs next to an Overanalyzing Avatar video in the background and a couple month-old wasp corpses behind the window sill! Let’s see what ungodly unhinged cocktail of gaming edutainment I can spin from this.

Season 12, Key Gameplay Summaries: For starters, the CAR Sub Machine Gun (SMG) from Titanfall 2 is here to stay. Some balancing changes were made to gameplay, plus a range of new guns, meaning Apex now boasts a gun-roster of two-dozen!

We’re also peddling an Apex Legends CHAMPIONS EDITION if you want in on that!

The Alternator SMG is also now a floor-loot item, replaced with the Volt SMG as a seemingly more powerful alternative… Hold up, the Alternator got Alternated!? That’s some Shakespearean irony on a whole other level!

My Last Two Brain Cells – Colorized – February 18th, 2022.

The Peacemaker shotgun and Triple Take energy rifle also got buffs while Flatline got partially nerfed (that’s gamer lingo for weakened to you and me). You can only hold 2 guns maximum into battle, so choose wisely.

Without further ado, let’s break down some of the best in-game weapons! I’ll also go into detail about ammo types after.

The M600 Spitfire: Heavy Machine Gun. Despite some light nerfing, it can drop in care packages alongside extra buffs. The large magazine size and firing stability during long rates of fire also make it a must-have for players who prematurely shoot off into the sunset and need a little extra time to line up a good shot.

Kraber .50 CAL A: Care Package Sniper Gun: For my fellow short-sighted kings, getting your hands on a good sniper gun can do a world of good. I mean, what better way to take out an enemy player than using something that puts as much distance between the two of you as possible? And if you spend enough time in the shooting range, a head shot from this hefty tool can turn you into the gun-toting equivalent to One Punch Man! Very much a high-risk high-reward weapon.

R-301 Carbine. Light Assault Rifle: On the other hand, working up-close and personal means you’re more likely to hit the other bloke, which can work out if you have the armor to survive a good bout of firearm jousting! And if you want to boost your Light Machine Gun skills even more, Rampart’s passive skill is increased magazine sizes, heat capacity and reload speeds to LMGs, letting you fire longer.

VK-47 Flatline: Heavy Assault Rifle. Needless to say, my noob self always assumed “oh, is a heavy gun, therefore best becoz ‘ard”… Well, I was partially right, but that didn’t stop me taking shots out back like pornstar martini (minus the martini). It may have medium damage nowadays, but the recoil is good for stability and the medium-to-long range uses are effective.

Volt! Supply Drop SMG. Now one of the new top-dogs in terms of damage output, this bad boy may be harder to find in a care package or supply drop, but definitely worth it! And SMG’s in general are good if you want to channel your inner DP(S).

Those icons correlate to Light, Heavy, Energy, Shotgun, Sniper and Supply Drop Ammo respectively. Click here for more Apex Shooty-Bang-Bang goodness.

Genshin Impact is full of various puzzles you can solve in the open-world and during events. The newest area, Ekanomiya, is complete with plenty of puzzles for players to solve, and the 2.5 update brings even more puzzles with the Three Realms Gateway Offering Event.

Here is your guide to the Guiding Light puzzles of Ekanomiya.

Not everyone wants to spend tens of minutes trying to figure out a puzzle for just a pinch of primogems. Don’t worry – I’ve got you covered.

The Guiding Light puzzles in Genshin Impact involve a series of mirrors and rays. The mirrors are of two elements – Cryo and Hydro. Some of these objects can be rotated, but you may also alter their elemental type:

Cryo can be melted and turned into water by using Pyro. The ray of light that hits this will then reflect away from the mirror.
Hydro can be frozen and turned into Cryo. The light that hits this will, instead, pass through.
When ready, make sure the Bokuso Box is equipped and press “Z” near the mechanism to spawn the beam of light.

Thanks to PC Invasion for sharing these solutions.

You can find this puzzle north of the teleporter in the western section of the map.

The next puzzle is further south of the teleport, in an underground chamber. You’ll need to follow a seelie and light the torches in order, using pyro. This will give you a chest and reveal a hidden room with the mirror mechanism.

And that’s the solution for this puzzle!

The Cryo totem can now be attacked, causing the gate to open. In the narrow chamber, you’ll find another Cryo totem, as well as a chest. Continue following the Seelie outside until it’s on its pedestal so you can grab one more treasure chest.

Genshin Impact is available to download and play for free on PC, mobile, and PS4, as well as the PS5. If you haven’t been able to get your hands on the new PlayStation console, register your interest at our shop.

How I nearly tripled my Albedo’s damage output using the new artefact set and F2P weapon.

It hasn’t really been all that long since I posted my first build guide for Albedo, back when his rerun was initially announced. At that time, the Harbinger of Dawn was the go to weapon, and his artefacts were a mixed bag.

Now, with the new free to play weapon, the Cinnabar Spindle, and the new defence and geo damage boosting set, Husk of Opulent Dreams, Genshin Impact has given Albedo a complete overhaul.

First, let’s look at the damage comparison between the old and new Albedo.

Three weeks ago, my Albedo’s skill would hit for around 10k – with the assistance of Zhongli and Geo Resonance.

Look at my Albedo now:

Here, he hit for a maximum of 24k off-field damage with all the same buffs. This massive damage increase is all thanks to the new Free to Play event weapon and a brand new artefact set.

The Cinnabar Spindle

The latest event took us to the wilderness of Dragonspine, where we built snowmen, ran time trials, and uncovered a strange imposter. Most importantly, though, we got this great new weapon. We were also able to refine it to level five for free from event rewards, and benefited from an EXP bonus while leveling it up.

The passive, improved base attack, and defence substat should serve to give you a 10% damage increase from the Harbinger of Dawn (provided you aren’t completely reliant on it for crit rate and crit damage).

Though some have complained that this sword only works on Albedo, it’s a free weapon at the end of the day, and it makes Albedo very F2P friendly to build. This is in fact his Best in Slot 4 star, and can even out damage some 5 star swords too. Not to mention, you’ll no longer be chained to keeping Albedo’s health over 90%.

Artefacts

The Husk of Opulent Dreams set can provide up to 4 stacks of curiosity, each buffing your defence and geo damage by 6%. That’s a considerable total of 24% defence and geo damage. It’s very easy to maintain maximum stacks with Albedo, as you will gain a stack by being off-field every 3 seconds. The only way to lose stacks is by standing on field and doing no geo damage.

If you want to maintain Albedo as more of a support role, he is one of the characters who can best utilise the Tenacity of Millelith’s 4 piece set. This increases party members attack by 20% and shield strength by 30%. As Albedo cannot benefit from the attack bonus himself (because his skill scales with defence), I personally don’t recommend sacrificing Albedo’s damage for this buff. Attack can instead be boosted by another party member with a four piece Noblesse set, if needs be.

As for the stats on the artefacts, you’re going to follow a traditional DPS build. However, you’ll be substituting attack for defence. As you’re going to get plenty of defence from the set bonus and Cinnibar Spindle, you’re definitely going to want a crit rate or crit damage circlet. This will depend on how much crit rate you manage to scourge up in your sub stats, etc. The time piece should be defence, and the goblet should have a geo damage bonus. In your sub stats you should prioritise crit rate / crit damage, but defence rolls are not unwelcome either.

If you’re sticking with the Harbinger of Dawn, prioritise defence more. You could even consider using a defence circlet or goblet.

Following are the stats on my Albedo which allow him to hit for these sorts of numbers.

(Yes, we’re friendship level 10 besties, by the way.)

This is my Albedo with max curiosity stacks from the Opulent set. Again, this will not be hard to maintain. He previously had around 1,800 defence – so 2,458 is a huge improvement.

My crit rate isn’t most ideal, but I’m able to skimp on it by pairing him with the Geo traveller, who has an ER build. The Geo traveller provides a 10% crit rate buff with their elemental burst, which is pretty easy to maintain. I will at some point probably switch Albedo to a build with more crit rate and less crit damage, but for now I’m happy to pair him with the traveller or use him in my teams that capitalise on Cryo Resonance.

With the buff from the Opulent set, Albedo is able to enjoy a 92.2% Geo damage bonus. This should be the same for you, with a level 20 goblet and max curiosity stacks, plus the geo damage boost from his ascension stat.

Team compositions

Albedo slots comfortably into most team compositions as a sub DPS. He shines the most, however, in Geo compositions. This allows him to benefit from Geo resonance, which greatly buffs Geo damage.

Albedo will work especially well with characters that do AoE damage. The limitations on his skill procs apply to individual enemies, so essentially the more enemies you can attack at once, the more his skill can activate. This makes him pretty much godly with a character like Venti, whose burst continuously hits many enemies at once. He also works very well with the Geo traveller’s burst (when it actually lines up with enemies, that is). Another great candidate is Tartaglia, whose riptides can damage multiple enemies at once. Electro-charged comps also suit him in this way.

Congratulations to everyone who managed to snag an Albedo (or Eula). If you’re still pulling for him in this last week, I’m sending you all the best luck! While my Albedo’s build is still far from perfect, I hope I’ve demonstrated his huge potential with the new set and F2P sword.

Yet another glitch has been discovered, and this one can be exploited to the players’ benefit.

The Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl cloning glitch was discovered by Twitter user Kevinfor5. In order to recreate the glitch, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players need to visit the Solaceon Town daycare. Then, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players need to access their Pokemon boxes and place two Pokemon in the exact same position in different boxes. For example, a Pokemon in the corner of Box 1 and a Pokemon in the same corner of Box 2.

Then players want to take one of those two Pokemon and put it in their Battle Box. Next, select the other Pokemon to add to the Solaceon Town daycare. After selecting it for the daycare, click on “Box List,” press Y, and then swap the positions of the two Pokemon.

Deposit the Pokemon in daycare. Then, when players open their Battle Box again, they’ll see that the bottom slot says Lv.99 with no Pokemon in it.

Step by step guide

Go to Solaceon Town daycare

Access Pokemon boxes and place two Pokemon in the same position in different boxes

Put one of those Pokemon in the Battle Box

Select the other Pokemon for daycare placement then click Box List, press Y, and swap the two Pokemon

Deposit the Pokemon in the daycare and open the Battle Box again to confirm that there’s a glitch at the bottom of the list

Grab a Pokemon to delete and put it in the Battle Box

Select the Pokemon to be cloned and add it to the Battle Box

Click on the Pokemon and view its summary screen

Back out to see the Pokemon and any item it’s holding cloned

Afterwards, grab a Pokemon to delete and try to insert it into the Battle Box. Next, grab the Pokemon that needs to be cloned and add it to the Battle Box. Click on the Pokemon, view its summary screen, then back out to see that there is now two of those Pokemon.

People are using the trick to clone legendaries, or to get rare items like Master Balls – as any item the pokemon is holding will also be cloned. This glitch will surely be patched out soon, so decide if you want to exploit it while you can.

Everybody wants to add the shiny form of their favourite to their collection, but due to their rarity they can be quite difficult to find. Each Pokémon has a 1/4096 chance in being Shiny.

There are a couple of handy ways that might help decrease the time sunk into catching one of these elusive creatures.

One method is by using the PokéRadar and the Chain Counter. You can do something called ‘Chaining’ to significantly increase the encounter rate for shiny Pokémon.

Where is the PokéRadar

To get the PokéRadar you must become the League Champion and have encountered 150 Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokedex. Speak to Professor Rowan and he will give you the PokéRadar. A device that allows you to locate certain Pokémon in grassy areas.

Go to Ramanas Park once you’ve got the radar and find Professor Oak. He’ll give you an app for your Pokétch called the ‘Chain Counter’. This lets you keep track of how many Pokémon of a particular species they have captured or defeated. Shiny forms of Pokémon species are more likely to show up as this number increases.

By running away from that Pokémon, however, will prevent the counter from rising.

What is Chaining?

Chaining is where you attempt to ‘chain’ encounters with the same species to keep increasing the counter. The higher the counter gets by continuously battling the same Pokémon, the higher the chance you have of encountering a shiny Pokémon.

Listed below are how your number of defeats/captures of a Pokémon in a row affects your chances of finding a shiny Pokémon.

0-50 defeats/captures – 1/4096

50 defeats/captures – 1/2048 with 2x encounter rate.

100 defeats/captures – 1/1365 with 3x encounter rate

200 defeats/captures – 1/1024 with 4x encounter rate

500 defeats/captures – 1/683 with 6x encounter rate

How to Chain Pokémon

First, you have to make sure the PokéRadar is charged by running around. Once that’s done, it’s time to get started.

Head over to a grassy area with a Pokémon you want to chain. Activate the PokéRadar and the grass will start to shake when it’s fully charged.

Make sure you have a repel active, so you don’t run into any random wild Pokémon. Run into the shaking grass patch and catch the Pokémon you want to start the chain.

From there, keep heading to shaking patches of grass to continue the chain. So long as the chain is going, you’re guaranteed to encounter the same Pokémon in every rustling patch.

The most annoying thing about this process is that its still very luck based. There’s a slight chance if you’re particularly unlucky that another Pokémon might appear, which will break the chain sadly. If this happens it will reset, and you’ll have to start over.

Below is a more in-depth guide from PokeTips that has more details on the process of chaining and how it works:

Increased Chances Through Breeding Pokémon

If you want to increase your chances of hatching a shiny Pokémon from an egg, you can use something called the Masuda Method.

This is a mechanic introduced in Gen 6. When two Pokémon of differing language breed, they have an increased chance of producing an egg that will hatch a shiny Pokémon.

The chance increases to 1/682 from 1/4096. This is still a 0.15% chance, but the higher odds are welcome.

To obtain a Pokémon with a differing language you must trade with someone globally.

Spiritomb is widely known for its unusual method of capture in original Diamond and Pearl Games. It involved placing an Odd Keystone in a location, and then speaking to other local players. This was a tricky and time consuming process, but obtaining Spiritomb in Pokemon BDSP is slightly easier.

How to Catch Spiritomb in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

To catch Spiritomb in Pokemon BDSP is similar to that of the original. First you have to find an Odd Keystone and place it in the Hallowed Tower – which is located on Route 209.

After placing the Keystone, it’s time to get social. You must speak to 32 unique NPCs in located across the Grand Underground.

You can check your progress at the Hallowed Tower to get an idea of how far along your quest is, or, in other words, how close you are to gaining Spiritomb. The Hallowed Tower would state “It appears to have been built many years ago,” if you’ve only spoken to 0 to 7 NPCs. Here’s all the comments it will make to let you know how far along you are:

0-7 NPCs: It appears to have been built many years ago.

8-14 NPCs: Its stones appear to have shifted.

15-21 NPCs: Is that crying coming from inside the tower.

22-28 NPCs: Is the tower shaking ever so slightly.

29-31 NPCs: There is some sort of presence… it appears ready to emerge!

32+ NPCs: Yulaaah!

After meeting the required NPCs, go back to the Hallowed Tower and interact with the Keystone. A Spiritomb will appear that you can attempt to catch.

Spooky.

You can repeat this process a number of times so you can catch more than one Spiritomb.

Odd Keystone Locations

There are two guaranteed locations in Sinnoh to find the Odd Keystone. One is located on Route 208, while the other one’s in Twinleaf Town. You can get the second one buy surfing across to a small island there.

You can also find as many as you want from the Grand Underground

Despite the fact that Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl are largely authentic remakes that stay true to the original games, Studio ILCA has added a whole bunch of new elements to modernise the fourth generation of Pokemon. One such change is the location of Gible – the first form of the Garchomp line.

I never actually caught a Gible in the original Diamond and Pearl, as I never actually knew where to find it. As badly as I wanted one, I never got round to finding it. Thankfully, the remade Sinnoh features a new way to obtain Gible and Garchomp. Gabite is still located in the same place however.

Garchomp is still one of the most beloved Pokémon of the Sinnoh region, and for good reason: its remarkably strong moves are a force to be reckoned with. Even the Sinnoh Champion recognises its power as they defend their title using the Dragon-type.

Where to Find Gible in Pokémon BDSP

Players who want to catch the Pokemon will have to wait until they’ve defeated the 6th Gym in Canalave City. Once you’ve beat the Gym, follow the steps below and you can catch your own Gible.

Get HM Strength on Route 209. It’s on the fifth floor of the Lost Tower from the Old Lady NPC. You have to defeat Gym Leader Byron to use it.

Travel to Eterna City and take the South Exit to Route 206. Ride down to the end of the Cycling Road.

Make a right immediately after exiting Cycling Road’s tunnel, and use HM Cut to remove the trees blocking your way. Follow the grass underneath the Cycling Road bridge, stick to the right side.

There will be cave opening at the end of the path, ignore this. Immediately walk left instead, until you are underneath the bridge. There is a secret cave opening onscreen that cant be seen unless you press forward.

You will enter Wayward Cave. Use Flash to light the cave up. There’s a TM for it at Oreburgh Gate.

Use Strength to push the rock blocking you from going forward. Go through the opening on the left.

Get your bike out and use second gear to ride up the two slopes. Then turn right and jump over the three ramps.

You should end up in a square area of dirt. By running around here Gible will spawn. There is 15% chance of the little dragon-shark appearing.

Route 206 – Underneath Cycling Road Bridge is Wayward Cave.

Once you’ve caught Gible, you have to train until it reaches level 24 in order for it to evolve into Gabite.

Fancy.

After you’ve evolved your Gible into Gabite, you’ll need to raise Gabite to level 48, which will cause it to evolve into Garchomp.

Garchomp’s Grand Underground Location

In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, there is a second route to obtain Garchomp, which is through the Grand Underground. Grand Underground has little rooms known as Pokemon Hideaways. There are around 200 Pokemon that spawn there, however some of them are exclusive to the Grand Underground.

In the Riverbank Cave Hideaway, both Gible and Gabite can be found spawning. Traveling to Jubilife City and then activating the Explorer Kit will lead you to this particular chamber.

Make sure you’ve caught the Pokemon beforehand however to guarantee that it will spawn in this location. It can be hard to track down at first for sure, but it is definitely worth the effort. Garchomp is a powerhouse, and should be a welcome addition to any team.

Halo Infinite’s equipment system is reminiscent of the Armor Abilities from Halo: Reach. Equipment items are a wide range of consumable pick-ups that grant you an extra ability, such as Thrusters to dodge, a Repulsor that deflects certain projectiles, and my personal favourite – the Grappleshot.

Most of these are pretty self-explanatory in terms of what they do. However, when utilised properly they can be used to turn the tide of battle and give you the advantage. They’re also being used to pull of some crazy trick-shots, and it wouldn’t be Halo without those.

Now, I’m not quite sure I can guide you towards pulling off a masterful display such as that. However, I can give you the basics on how each piece of equipment works and what it’s best used for.

The Grappleshot

This thing is COOL.

The Grappleshot is by far one of the coolest additions to Halo Infinite. Almost any game is made immediately better with a grappling hook. This one is fairly self-explanatory, but it has a whole bunch of cool uses.

The first is of course you zip towards whatever you shoot it at. This means you can use it to reach locations you wouldn’t be able to otherwise. The Grappleshot makes traversing distances easy if you build up the right momentum as you can direct yourself whilst swinging.

You can use it to grab items from a distance, so you can bring power weapons etc. towards you. If you hit another player with the Grappleshot, it will propel you towards them and strikes them automatically upon impact.

It’s great against vehicles, as you can use it to pull yourself towards them and hijack them for yourself.

The Grappleshot has a lot of versatility and can allow you to get the jump on enemies by finding angles they would not suspect.

The Repulsor

If you’re the kinda person who likes to parry things in Dark Souls, then this ones for you.

The Repulsor took me a minute to get used to, as it wasn’t entirely obvious what is was for when I first picked it up. It’s a powerful defensive item projects a force in front of you to deflect whatever is coming towards you. This includes projectiles, players and vehicles.

It requires very particular timing to use, so it almost functions like a parrying mechanic. This is best used when someone’s charging towards you with an Energy Sword or a Gravity Hammer. It’s also great someone’s flying towards you in a Ghost or another vehicle. With the correct timing, any of the above will be rendered useless as they are propelled away from you.

You can also use the Repulsor to send back projectiles. Time it right and you can make someone really regret throwing that plasma grenade.

The Thruster

Dodge enemy attacks with the Thruster equipment.

The Thruster is a basic device that accelerates you a short distance in a certain direction at high speed when you use it. As a result, you may use the Thruster to move in any direction, including sideways and backwards, allowing you to avoid incoming melee attacks, bullets, and vehicles.

Use it to zoom past or away from opposing Spartans in confined spaces to completely throw them off their game. With the Thruster, it also appears as if you might be able to increase your jumping distance with the right timing, as it will propel you forward mid-air.

However, the Thruster’s increased agility is ideal for close-quarters combat where creative movement might help you gain an advantage. Just keep in mind that the ability has a short cooldown between uses, so you can’t just dash all the time.

The Threat Sensor

The Threat Sensor – well… It detects threats.

The name says it all with this one. The Threat Sensor is probably the simplest of all the equipment but that doesn’t mean it has serves no purpose. You can use the Threat Sensor to gather important information about your opponents to plan your engagement.

The device fires a short-range sensor that sticks to walls, objects, and even people. When it lands, it emits a brief sonar-like ping, like the AI Scan you may use to locate accessible weapons and vehicles, but the Threat Sensor also reveals opposing players—even through walls.

The Threat Sensor lasts six seconds and may be placed almost anywhere, providing you with a clear view of opponent movements and locations. Use it to plan your onslaught on a stronghold, or simply to gain a better view of the fighting as you approach a larger battle.

One important thing to note is that anyone wearing Active Camo will not be highlighted by the Threat Sensor, so be cautious.

The Drop Wall

It’s good for some quick cover while you retreat, or to last just a bit longer in an engagement.

The Drop Wall is great to quickly drop a wall of cover if you’re lacking some in a firefight. Hence the name – Drop Wall. Throw down a wall in front of you will that will absorb incoming fire, while also allowing you to shoot from behind it. The panels are not very durable and break after only a few shots. However, the rest of the wall will be maintained if a segment is destroyed.

It doesn’t deflect a whole load of bullets, but it does the trick to give you that extra little edge you might need to come out on top. You can also use it to completely stop a rocket in its tracks. That could be just enough to protect your killing spree.

The Drop Wall is excellent for defending a fixed location.

The Overshield

Overshields in Halo Infinite are an incredible defensive option.

The Overshield has been a pick-up in Halo for a long time, and it’s just as powerful as ever. It’s regarded as the best defensive option in the game as it basically doubles your shield capacity. This means you can take a lot more damage before you succumb to death.

Overshields don’t make you invincible, but they make you a whole lot tougher to take down. Given the right circumstances, you could easily take down three or four opponents with the Overshield’s added defence. It appears on the map the same way weapons do, so keep an eye out for the marker and its timer so you can grab it for yourself.

One of the main benefits of the Overshield in this game is that you can hang onto it. You can deploy it when you need it most, so it’s best to hang onto it for a particularly large encounter. You’ll have to use it at the right time, as it degrades over time. The shield will run out entirely after 40 seconds.

It’s worth keeping in mind it takes a sec for the activation animation to play and the effect to become active. So time it right and try not to die while you’re using it.

The Active Camo

Now you see me… Now you don’t.

The Active Camo another top-tier equipment device. It’s a Halo classic, just like the Overshield—activate it, and you’ll become almost invisible, as well as not appear on radar or be marked by the Threat Sensor. The effect lasts approximately 30 seconds and spreads to objects like the flag if you’re carrying it in CTF, which may be quite useful for sneaking away and scoring a point.

It’s important to know that firing your weapon, sprinting, throwing a grenade, or meleeing an enemy may cause your Active Camo to be temporarily broken, so don’t confront an opponent unless you’re ready to completely engage—and certain that the advantage of surprise will give you an advantage. If your camo duration is still active, it will renew shortly after you break it.

You should also be aware that utilising Active Camo does not make you fully invisible, however the effect is quite close. When an Active Camo player moves in front of them, eagle-eyed players will notice a ripple of motion, allowing them to spot and kill a camouflaged player. So just keep in mind that Active Camo isn’t flawless.
