Hogwarts Legacy just released it’s State of Play video on the gameplay and upcoming mechanics. I’m on my 69th re-listen of the seminal retrospective deep-dive by Shaun, aptly titled ‘Harry Potter’. All is well in the world of Harry Potter, not a single inch of emotionally difficult coming to terms with Jowling Kowling Rowling’s support of far-right groups and harmful policies AT ALL… Though I will admit, that brief stint with Vaush resulted in Jessie Gender making an interesting piece on the topic, so you win some, you lose some!

Jokes aside, drama around JK has sparked conversation on the ethics of consuming art from someone who advocates for trans-exclusionary laws, New Labor cronyism and a dash of implicit antisemitism if her support of the LGB Alliance is to be perceived.

And for anyone still on the fence of whether or not JK Rowling is as bad as I make her out to be, I recommend the videos by SaraZ, Jammidodger and Contrapoints on the situation.

Despite my gripes with JK Rowling on many topics, in the immortal words of Communist Johnny The Xerox machine (CJ The X), “I am biased towards art“. As someone with a passion and background in theatre and film, I’d rather bad art, or even good art by bad people exist and be consumed or discussed.

I don’t want to take away anyone’s enjoyment from the series or Hogwarts Legacy once it releases. Cards on the table, Studio Ghibli have contributed an incredible amount to the anime cinema canon, but the company also relied on crunch time, which isn’t exactly the most ethical practice in the world!

With that said, JK is a literal billionaire and WILL profit from Hogwarts Legacy’s success through royalties if it breaks even. So, here’s some ideas and suggestions for how to at least try possibly attempting ethical consumption of art JK Rowling will profit from.

Charity and Mutual Aid (brilliant video here). Despite not being perfect, they can help as long as you’re working with a trusted group. Mermaids, The Equality Project and Fumble are among the best LGBT+ UK charities (as far as I’m aware). Every little helps, as us Tesco-Leftists like to say!

Online Activism? Not always bad! I won’t deny, a lot of online performative posts about whatever big social issue is going on can come off disingenuous, but it’s not all bad. Spreading infographics, studies and political edutainment can be useful for raising awareness of issues effecting marginalized groups. In addition, online activism is an accessible form of activism for differently-abled people who may not be able to storm the Bastile with a BLM sign and molotov cocktail.

Google Scholar is a good free resource to check out studies on a great variety of topics. Type in whatever key word you like and ey-presto! Ain’t that right Harris?

Leftist Google. Right up there with the CEO Of Antifa, Rainbow-flavored gob-jobs, “you can’t say woman anymore”, The War On Christmas and other mythical entities of questionable existence!

Summarizing complex centuries-long research about gender and trans discourse is no easy task and I guarantee you won’t be able to convince everyone, but it’s better to try and fail than not bother at all.

Oh, Bobby Kotick. Bobbert Kotique. Boobie Kocktick. Soon-to-be former Blizzard CEO! It seems our whirlwind parasocial romance of venomous mockery is coming to a close. Now that Microsoft has bought out Activision Blizzard (click here for our breakdown on that chestnut), I probably won’t be able to keep taking the mick out of you unless you decided to build up a new company from the ground-up… But, as much as I hate to admit it, the desire to reduce your chances of harassing others in the gaming industry somewhat outweigh my desire to monetize the act of reading your soul to filth!

So, for possibly the last time ever: I offer onto you, dear reader, that one “Bobbert Kotique” meme I made in an attempt to make that running gag a thing outside of my blogs!

That’s enough heart-bleeding for one day, back to the news: The Wallstreet Journal has confirmed that Bobby Kotick WILL be stepping down from Activision Blizzard once the acquisition deal with Microsoft has neared it’s completion.

Phil Spencer of Microsoft has also stated Activision Blizzard and Microsoft will ‘continue to operate independently’, until the deal has been completed, then he’ll become the new chief.

All parties involved were unanimous on Bobby Kotick  leaving (took em long enough), but all agreed he should also get a payout of $300 million. GameBizUK over on Twitter shared a post confirming that Kotique’s entitlement to a payout specifically under the circumstances of change of company control had been planed for via prior employee agreement document. It may be more than the man deserves, but at least he’ll definitely be getting the boot!

A Brief Summary: Because on the offhand you made it this far in the blog WITHOUT knowing the Bobby Kotick drama, then you’re probably thinking “why is this angry and surprisingly articulate journalistic black belt so hard on this Bobby fellow? Some of my best friends are bobbies“. To cut a long story short: Activision Blizzard is a famous gaming company and Kotick owned a huge share. A billion sexual harassment lawsuits revealed the horrific treatment of women and people of colour at the company, as well as the Blizzard board’s attempts to cover things up. For more on that, have a butcher’s hook at our past articles.

Bobby Kotick claimed the sexual harassment lawsuits and allegations had ‘nothing to do’ with selling Blizzard to Microsoft… You know, in the same way that the FBI encouraging Martin Luther King’s suicide had “nothing to do” with anything.

In summary: It’s good that we’re seeing major changes here, but remember that even once Activision Blizzard has been bought, this won’t be the end. I encourage you, dear reader, to be as critical and vigilant for harassment and discrimination as I am with regards to Kotick and other major industry figures.

The post Blizzard “Woes”: Bobby Kotick’s $300 Million Payout Leave first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Ever since its announcement, Harry Potter fans have been patiently waiting for more news about the upcoming game set in the Potter Universe- Hogwarts Legacy. This is hardly surprising, as we’ve virtually heard nothing in this time, as we don’t even know  when the game is even going to be released! Apart from a few leaks, this is the first news we’ve got in quite some time!

Fans had hoped the game may get some sort of announcement at the Game awards (not the only game that didn’t make an appearance) but it didn’t quite happen. Luckily we’ve got prominent insider and leaker Millie to help us out!

Taking recently to Twitter,  Millie lets us know that we would’ve seen more of the game last year, that was until JK Rowling got caught out in transphobic controversy. As such, they decided it may be best to have some “hesitancy and caution” so the game doesn’t become embroiled in with the same issues.

Additionally, she reported that they decided to pull out of the Game Awards, instead throwing in a short CG announcement for Wonder Woman. So when will be seeing another trailer for the game? Well apparently, its all ready to go, and an upcoming PlayStation event could be the place to see it!

Previous rumours have claimed that Sony is planning a PSX event for December, which other leaks seem to have fallen in line with as well. We’re excited to see what this event could involve so we’ll be giving you more information on it when we have it!

Despite Harry Potter being her own creation, Warner Bros. were adamant to let people know that Rowling isn’t involved in the game. This will come as a relief to some fans, but could also be controversial leaving out the woman who started it all. Only time will tell how the decision goes.

Hogwarts Legacy was last shown over a year ago. It was shown right in the middle of the whole J.K media backlash. The game was victim to that.

A peak back into the wizarding world could be coming soon than expected! Despite the original trailer, the only news fans have heard about the upcoming game is that it will be released after the next Fantastic Beasts film. Unfortunately, fans have been left in the dark in pretty much every other aspect of the games release. That won’t stop us from getting excited however. We’ve seen fan-requested Hogwarts features and gameplay mechanics being shared online in hope that the developers pay attention. These include desires for social simulation similar to Persona 5 or Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Now that would be pretty amazing.

However, we’ve received an update. Whisper it quietly, but a reputable leaker has resurfaced once again and offers us hope they we will receive more news about the game sometime soon. We can only hope this is true. Before we delve into exactly what’s been said, have a quick reminder of the games trailer which got us all hyped quite some time ago!

Leaker Expects Update On Hogwarts: Legacy

Video game anlyst and PlayStation insider Millie Amand is the person we should be thanking at this time! She said a simple yet effective ‘Soon…’ on her twitter account, swiftly followed by a Hogwarts Legacy GIF. We know exactly what you’re thinking here. How can you trust a leaker? Well luckily for us, despite her being fairly new on the scene, she does have a credible history behind her. For example, she was supposedly the individual who uncovered the Marvel’s Wolverine leak, as well as various other Sony rumours.

Furthermore, Amands previous remarks have hinted at a showing at the Geoof Keighley’s Game Awards. These are set to be shown on December 9, which gives us hope we’ll finally get news then. According to Amand, Hogwarts Legacy was meant to be ‘shown at the PlayStation Showcase but assets weren’t ready for the show’. Well that’s bitterly disappointing indeed, but should come as no surprise seeing the game has already been delayed by a year.

Notwithstanding Millie’s reputation, Harry Potter fans should be excited regardless. Surely the developers realise we’ve been waiting ever so patiently for any sort of news. Let’s just hope they recognise it quick enough where our hype for this game doesn’t disappear. In all honesty, that’s very unlikely. Just by looking at these screenshots below we can tell Avalanche Studios are plotting something massive here. We cannot wait.

Revealed to us over a year ago, Hogwarts Legacy news has been very few and far between. Warner Bros. haven’t given us any new game play details or new sneak peaks since then, neither have the developers Avalanche Software. It’s all gone very quiet, other than when they informed us about the games delayed release. We should’ve been expecting the title sometime this year but got told we’d have to wait until 2022 instead.

Obviously, 2022 is slowly creeping up on us now. As a result, fans continue to wonder when exactly they’ll be able to get their claws into the wizarding world. Unfortunately, it seems we’re going to have to wait that little big longer than we’d of hoped for. Pity.

Hogwarts Legacy To Be Released After Next Fantastic Beasts Film

Recently, Warner Bros. general manager revealed in an interview with Toy World magazine that the next Fantastic Beasts film and Hogwarts Legacy will be the two big new releases for the IP in 2022. Moreover, she hinted that the latter will be out after the film, which isn’t very surprising.

“We have two major releases; a film and a game, that will be sure to generate incredible excitement amongst fans. The first is the film release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, now announced to be releasing on the 8th of April in the UK. The third instalment is sure to be a real fan favourite”.

“The second major release of 2022 will be a new console game: Hogwarts Legacy. The reaction to the trailer for this has been amazing and it looks set to be a huge success. We know that gaming is such an important part of the market and one that we have to be involved in. From what we’ve seen, the launch will be well worth the wait and will deliver a unique way for fans to interact with the franchise”.

Hogwarts Legacy isn’t the only upcoming 2022 release for WB Games. Alongside Hogwarts Legacy, they also have Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Two hotly anticipated games, especially for fans of the Arkham Series looking for a bit more DC action. Have a little peak at the main antagonists we’re going to see in Gotham Knights here.

Niantic has cast the avada kedavra spell and will be shutting down its Harry Potter app for good.

After a long and successful run, Niantic and Warner Bros Entertainment are saying goodbye to their collaboration project Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

The AR game that saw the Wizarding World come to life will be removed from apps by the end of this year and the servers will shut down completely by next year. Fear not though, there’s still plenty of upcoming events players can enjoy before the killing curse hits.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite

The AR game launched back in 2019 and was created after the success of Pokémon GO and is situated in the muggle world (our world) where witches and wizards (the players) must come together to solve “The Calamity”, overcome the confounding chaotic magic that surrounds the “Foundables,” and return them to their rightful place, keeping them safe from Muggle eyes.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite received regular updates and fixtures since its initial release and maintained a decently-sized community online. The development team confirmed the game was downloaded by millions of fans around the world, unlike other games Niantic has had to shut down in the past, like their Catan mobile AR game, which was shut down still in its beta testing phase.

A reason for this decision was not provided, however, it is speculated whether the release of Hogwarts Legacy in 2022- an open-world, action role-playing video game set in the late 1800s.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be removed from the App Store, Google Play and Galaxy Store on December 6 and players will be unable to make in-app purchases. The game will shut down fully on January 31, 2022.

However, there’s still time to take part in events during the months of November and December, including the Half-Blood Prince Brilliant Event Part 1 this month and the Voldemort Lethal Adversaries Event next month.

In what is more hopeful news for Niantic, the company have just released another AR game situated in the world of Pikmin titled Pikmin Bloom, which was recently made available in the UK, and is making a series of apps together with Nintendo.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an upcoming British film inspired by the Harry Potter books from J. K. Rowling. The writer has decided to create a spin-off to the much loved Harry Potter film series after the story ended five years ago. This is J. K. Rowling’s first time at screenwriting and will be the first film in a trilogy.

The first Harry Potter book was written nearly twenty years ago now, back in 1997. The first book was titled, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and instantly became a success. In 2000 J. K. Rowling released her fourth Harry Potter book, gaining more and more fans as the books were being released. With the huge popularity of the books, J. K. Rowling sold the film rights for the Harry Potter books to Warner Bros.

After the final Harry Potter film came out in 2011, fans have wondered whether they will see anything like it again, or a sequel to the hugely loved franchise. Fans were ecstatic to find out that a prequel to Harry Potter was coming to the big screen and it looks incredible.

Fantastic Beasts will focus on a man named Newt Scamander and his adventures among the secret community of the wizards and witches among New York in 1926. Newt is a writer and his work is read by Harry Potter when he is at Hogwarts a whole seventy years after this story is set.

Newt carries a briefcase around with him, this briefcase is a magically expanding briefcase and holds a number of very dangerous beasts and creatures. When the creatures escape the briefcase, it leaves a devastating effect on the wizard community of New York.

The story being set so far before the events in Harry Potter is a really good idea. It will show the wizarding world before Harry Potter even existed. It will be really cool, I can’t wait for the release.
