Xbox Series S has outsold PlayStation 5 in Japan for the first time and that is a massive deal!!!

As we all know the home of PlayStation is Japan, Microsoft has never really concentrated on the Asian market as their competitors Sony and Nintendo have always dominated on that side of the world as it is their home. But in shocking news, Microsoft’s cheaper slimmer platform the Xbox Series S had outsold Sony’s premier console last week for the first time. The fact the Xbox Series S is cheaper and more accessible than all the other next-gen console has helped sales considerably.

Inside the week of May 9th – May 15th, Xbox Series S had outsold the PlayStation 5 by 4,000 units, an incredible achievement for Microsoft. The Xbox Series S climbs above both PlayStation 5 editions of the console. This is largely down to the production issues that Sony has been struggling with ever since the PlayStation 5 launch back November 2020, globally fans have had their problems getting their hands on both consoles down to said production issues and scalpers buying up multiple units at a time.

Xbox might’ve made the news this week but overall it doesn’t come close to Nintendo, as expected they dominate in Japan week after week with their assortment of handheld consoles (Switch OLED, Switch and Switch Lite). The unique machine has been a phenomenal success for Nintendo selling 20 million units in Japan alone making at only the 5th console to do so (behind the Nintendo DS, Nintendo Game Boy/Colour, Nintendo 3DS and the PlayStation 2). So Xbox’s recent success doesn’t and probably will never come close to how successful Nintendo has been in Japan over the last 20 years.

Microsoft have no sign of letting up in their journey to win over the Asian market with their renewed direction in Xbox Cloud Gaming. Japan has always favoured mobile gaming so access to Xbox games on iOS and Android could win over some of the hardcore Nintendo fan base.

Globally, Xbox Series X/S have been widely successful as from Microsoft’s financial results from last year they showed Xbox hardware revenues were up 166% compared to the same period last year, which might not come as a surprise since Xbox One sales were tailing off and an increase in revenue from the gaming side with Xbox’s content doing very well.

Facts About Animal Crossing: New Horizons Special Character ‘Leif’?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ character  ‘Leif’ has come a long way. He was first introduced as a plant-loving sloth in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and operated a shopkeeper, who had some special items such as the silver shovel and also sold trees and plants for the player to buy.

Who is Animal Crossing: New Horizons Leif?

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Leif’s role hasn’t changed, only this time he doesn’t have a building for a shop, but more of a street market and sells vegetables, bushes and flowers that the player can’t obtain in Nook’s Cranny.

Ingredients for recipes that involve tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, flour, sugar and pumpkins can all be can be bought from Leif. Growing your own wheat and sugarcane allow you to craft sugar and flour. The pumpkins can just be picked once their grown, no crafting required. Leif has come to play a big part in Animal Crossing: New Horizons since the 2.0 Update, as he allows the players to get access to certain plants that can only be obtainable on a trip with Kapp’n.

1. Leif has plant shaped hair

Leif looks adorable with his hat off, finally, we get to see the Sloth exposed. While some may expect Leif to be completely bald, he actually has tiny plant shaped hair, similar to a green sprout. It’s very fitting to a sloth-like him.

2. Leif has a de-weeding service

Since update 2.0, Leif has gotten their own little shop stand at Harv’s island, it costs 700,000 bells to get him to arrive. It may be known, but many haven’t been made aware of this service yet. If a player time travels too far or perhaps hasn’t played in a long time or maybe just isn’t maintaining their island, they will get weeds growing everywhere.

Leif has a service that allows the player to get the weeds removed by the next day, however, this will only work if the player has a lot of weeds on their island. If there’s only a few, he will say he doesn’t see many for him to do the job. (Technically telling the player they can do it themselves).

3. Leif’s sharp claws most likely do all the work

If you’re unaware, Leif is a sloth, and sloths are quite vicious attackers, especially with their extremely sharp claws. They are sharp as knives and can easily cut things up without a problem. This includes the plants that they eat. This will explain why Leif chose to work with plants. It’s an easy task for him and comes naturally.

Real-Life Animal Crossing: New Horizons Cherry Speakers Made By Fan

Yes, They’re real!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has an amazing amount of new furniture from the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0. update, however, one fan, in particular, is still showing appreciation for one of the original items. The Cherry Speakers.

As much as we miss the iconic watermelon furniture, the cherry fruit is one of the most popular amongst the Animal Crossing Fandom, so it’s only right they have cherry-themed items.

Reddit User ‘Oomoo_Amazing’ spent their time through blood, sweat and tears to recreate the cherry speakers, not only are these speakers aesthetically pleasing, but they sound good as well.

They are fully functional and as said by the creator ”Yes!! It plays the full animal crossing soundtrack from New Horizons! And thank you!!” That’s lead us to believe that the Animal Crossing: New Horizons soundtracks will be pre-set, of course, they could add other Animal Crossing soundtracks, purely for nostalgic reasons, but the cherry speaker is exclusive to New Horizons.

In Animal Crossing New Horizons, a typical in-game cherry speaker requires a DIY recipe to obtain it or a player can trade with another player to get it. However, after obtaining the DIY, the player needs 10 Cherries and two iron nuggets to craft it.

Why you need ALL the fruits in Animal Crossing New Horizons

It will be interesting to see the final result, the Reddit user has expressed that they will post their results once done! It’ll be a great device to sell, as many users have expressed their interest in purchasing the furniture and the creator has shown interest in selling the 3D printing files.

The creator mentioned they were worried about whether they can sell or not, that they may not be allowed. However, they might consider the fact many online sellers create merchandise that’s Animal Crossing themed. Hopefully, they make it available to the public.

To close off, the creator asked their audience if they have any suggestions on what to make next. “Any suggestions on my next project? I’ll be too bored after this is done! My husband is starting to get irritated with me filling up the house!”

Shin Megami Tensei V Gameplay Footage – First Impressions

In the last 5 days, Brand New Shin Megami Tensei V gameplay footage has been released. Shin Megami Tensei V was announced at Nintendo Tree House, E3 Brought to you by Atlus for alongside an announcement for when it will be released, which will be the 12^th November 2021, 1 day from now.

At the Nintendo Tree House Event, they had briefly shown the Shin Megami Tensei V trailer, which showcased exclusive Gameplay with the turn-based combat style. However, it wasn’t merely enough for those who know nothing about the series or even enough for fans of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise to truly see what they had in store for the game. The recently released gameplay truly shows what you’ll be getting for your money.

The footage has significant detail and seems to be an open-world game. The art style is very similar to Atlus’s previous games from the Persona franchise and their successful game Catherine (Catherine: Full Body) on the Nintendo Switch.

The graphics seem to look pretty good on the Nintendo Switch recording, but we aren’t sure whether this was taken from a Nintendo Switch OLED where the image would look a little more ‘crisp’ or a regular Switch. The frame rates seem to drop at some points, but fans are unsure if this is because of a fault in the recording or if it is the actual game itself.

Shin Megami Tensei V Soundtrack

The Megami Tensei V’s original soundtracks are also catching the fans attention, fantastic music that’s being compared to the greatness of NieR: Automata and NieR: Replicant. One of the most loved soundtracks is the ‘Shop Theme’ which is where the player finds and meets Gustave for the first time. Beautiful ethereal sounds and a hauntingly gorgeous singer.

The game looks fantastic, it may only be released on Nintendo Switch, but there is a new offshoot called Monark, that will be released by Atlus on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 next year, February 2022.

Will Nintendo’s Animal Crossing New Horizons Direct Save The Fandom?

I may be exaggerating a little…the fandom will always be there, of course. However, Animal Crossing New Horizons was the best selling Nintendo Game of 2020 with over 31 million copies sold globally, that’s almost 10 million more copies than Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has sold since 2018. Despite this, many players including fans from the Gamecube era has admitted their engagement with Animal Crossing New Horizons has become once a week, some has stretched to 3 weeks and for others a couple months. Why is that?

The Impression Nintendo Left

As Animal Crossing New Horizons was launched, as Nintendo had mentioned before, they have 3 years worth of game updates. That left the impression on fans and new players that there would be a lot of content being released and frequently, or at least something that can keep players busy towards the next update. Upon playing for a while, they realised that wasn’t the case and that Animal Crossing New Horizons was lacking a lot of content…such as The Roost, Mini-games from Tortimer’s Island, The fortune teller Katrina and much more.

Most of the complaints have come around because of the comparison they are making with Animal Crossing New Leaf and have mostly been about previous shops or the mini-games that were available. However, some players like myself have experienced gameplay in Animal Crossing Wild World and City Folk, that didn’t have all the features New Leaf had and so not having access to these things in New Horizons isn’t a big deal.

That doesn’t mean our expectations weren’t there. We all missed Brewster The Barista, Serena the Fountain Goddess, Copper and Booker the Gate Guards, Pelly, Phyllis and Pete, The Post office Pelicans, Mr. Resetti that is only a mere voice and many, MANY more NPC’s that aren’t included, that helped bring Animal Crossing to life.

Mini-games, missed NPC’s, monthly furniture additions and recipes would be appreciated.

What Should You Expect at The Animal Crossing New Horizons Direct?

Well, the last big news around New Horizons had been based on the Sanrio Amiibo cards and the Super Mario content. There had been a lot of excitement around that and the Animal Crossing New Horizons discord was buzzing. Once the content had been released the Nookazon discord (A platform where players can trade in-game items) was extremely active, but it had only been active for a short while and only a couple messages in the course of 5 minutes, whereas before…there had been hundreds.

It’s hard to say what we’ll expect in the Animal Crossing New Horizons, we know there will be Brewster and a new Amiibo Series, Nintendo will most likely expand on that, but what else? Perhaps they will have some plans for Christmas and New Year’s, they may add a bunch of extra features, recipes and hopefully some new characters. Nintendo has been extremely quiet recently, so we will just have to wait patiently to hear from them.
