The new 1.03 update will target some of the issues that have been blasted in memes on Twitter.

Rockstar’s recent release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has been blasted on the internet for being rife with bugs. Fans of GTA have expressed a mixture of disappointment and amusement at the often hilarious bugs plaguing the remasters.

Some bugs, however, were less amusing and more irritating. While rain and weather changes can add great atmosphere to any video game, they may have gone a little too far in the remasters.

As you can see (or rather, can’t see), the rain is so heavy and overwhelming that the player can barely work out where they’re going. It renders the game near unplayable. The 1.03 patch is going to address this first and foremost, along with other bugs and glitches.

However, the bug where CJ’s face covers the entire screen when activating first person on a quadbike will be missed for its hilarity.

The new patch also brings ‘stability improvements,’ will fix some texture issues, and add a cinematic camera mode.

The Trilogy is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC – and is apparently coming to the Nintendo Switch soon.

Let’s hope they get these crucial fixes done before implementing anything new, such as VR.

Rockstar has since issued an apology for the tumultuous launch. Thankfully, with this update on the way, the Trilogy will get a lot smoother and more playable. Those interested in experiencing (or re-experiencing) the classic Trilogy should check out our shop.

New footage from Japan shows what characters will be key in the remakes

As you may be aware, Nintendo is releasing remakes for the 2006 DS games Pokémon Diamond & Pearl later this month for Nintendo Switch from the best-selling Pokémon franchise. New footage has been released from Japan that highlight some of the characters that will be featured in the remakes and have made shared on Twitter.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl were officially announced in February and have been building up anticipation for their release on November 19.

The footage was uploaded by PokéXperto from a series of adverts currently viewable in Japanese train stations, which feature QR codes to access various videos. The adverts show characters from the two games including Professor Rowan, Champion Cynthia and three of Team Galactic’s commanders: Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.

One of the new additions to the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl remakes is a section called the Grand Underground, which is located under Sinnoh. It appears to be an enhanced version of the Underground section from the original DS version.

Other new features include the ability to collect stickers and apply them to Pokéballs, triggering special effects when a player calls their Pokémon into battle, and the ability to customise a trainer with outfits. Players can also choose a partner Pokémon to accompany them, just like in the Pokémon Yellow and the Pokémon Let’s Go games.

A new job listing leads to speculation on a possible new entry in the Tomb Raider series

Tomb Raider is the classic action-adventure series starring one of the most iconic game protagonists of all time, Lara Croft. Having sold 84 million copies worldwide and achieving multiple accolades, it’s one of the most well-known game series to date.

The Tomb Raider Reboot Trilogy brought the classic series staring Lara Croft back to the forefront of modern gaming. Many fans had assumed that Shadow of the Tomb Raider would be the final entry in the rebooted franchise, but the open-ended conclusion kept hope alive for fans who wanted another Tomb Raider game.

A job posting found on LinkedIn from Crystal Dynamics revealed that the company was looking for a lighting artist with experience working on AAA games. Although Crystal Dynamics has quite a few projects in the works, the job listing specified that applicants should be able to match the style of the first and second Tomb Raider reboot games, which were developed by the studio.

It’s not a confirmation – but it seems to be a good sign

We wont know for certain what the studio has planned until official announcements are made, but since the job listing included Tomb Raider by name, I think it’s reasonable to have hope for a fourth entry!

Crystal Dynamics were not the developers of the third game in the franchise, and it didn’t perform as well as its previous two entries. Perhaps Square Enix is hoping for Crystal Dyamics to revitalise the series with a fourth title.

The studio has said in the past that a new Tomb Raider game was in the works, but wasn’t in active development. This new job listing might suggest that production is making headway. However, it’s very possible that Crystal Dynamics is working on a game with similar lighting features and visual elements to the Tomb Raider games, and they might just have been used as an example in the listing.

It was recently announced that Crystal Dynamics would be developing the new Perfect Dark title. Though there isn’t much information to go on right now, but it’s possible that the project bears some similarities to Tomb Raider, as Perfect Dark sometimes uses third-person perspective.

All we really have to go on right now is speculation, and none of this confirms anything – but it does provide the grounds for hopeful fans to believe another Tomb Raider game could be on the way.

Life is Strange is one of the most iconic and well-received storytelling game series of our time. The series of episodic graphic adventures are published by Square Enix. The very first instalment was developed by Dontnod entertainment and released in five serialised episodes in 2015. Since the release of the prequel Before the Storm, Deck Nine have taken over development.

Life is Strange has received acclaim for its well-developed characters, handling of difficult themes, and narrative – though like most player-choice-influenced stories it has its plot holes and issues. The game has also been lauded for its LGBT representation, drawing many fans from the community (including myself).

The Life is Strange Remaster containing Square Enix’s enhanced rerelease of the first Life is Strange, as well as its prequel Before the Storm (along with all its bonus content from the Deluxe edition), has been set to release in February 2022 following delays.

The Remaster was due to arrive at the end of this months, to coincide with the release of the newest series entry, Life is Strange: True Colors.

Square Enix made the decision back in August to delay release, due to the complications posed by the pandemic.

At the time, we were given a vague release period of ‘early 2022’, but Square Enix has since officially confirmed the date of February 1st for Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Stadia.

The upcoming Remaster promises a variety of enhancements for Life is Strange and Before the Storm, including engine and lighting upgrades along with visual remasters for characters and environments.

Life is Strange will get fully motion captured facial animations, so we can expect to see the game in all-new lifelikeness. I’m certainly excited to re-experience the original Life is Strange game with all its new enhancements in the remaster!

Castlevania Advance Collection has been rated by another games rating board, giving us more hope for this GBA remaster to be real

Back in June, I wrote my first ever article for Go2Games regarding the news of a Castlevania Advance Collection being rated by two games rating boards, yet with no official statement from Konami, it was still up in the air whether we could be expecting it any time soon.

Now, another games rating board has rated the GBA remaster of the gothic-horror classic video game series and has given us more of an insight into something that is basically happening, we just haven’t received the news from Castlevania’s own IP owner.

Castlevania Advance Collection

The Taiwan Entertainment Software Rating Information website joins the ranks of the Australian Classification Board and the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea by listing the Castlevania Advance Collection, and has rated the game PG-12 for “sex, violence, horror and inappropriate language”.

The website has also stated what platforms we can expect to see the remaster on; Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The Castlevania Advance Collection is composed of three games that have all been critically reviewed and each score 91 on Metacritic.

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon was released in 2001, set in 1830, and follows the protagonist Nathan Graves, who’s following the footsteps of his deceased parents and his mentor Morris Baldwin take on Dracula. Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance was next released in 2002. The game is set in 1748 and follows Simon Belmont’s descendant Juste Belmont, who is trying to save his kidnapped friend Lydie from Dracula’s castle. The final game, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, took on a less conventional setting. Released in 2003, this Castlevania game is set in 2035 and follows teenager Soma Cruz who has occult powers.

These GBA games have only been re-released singularly before on the Wii U console back in 2015 so it will be exciting when Konami confirms whether we get this remaster collection or not.

Take-Two is working on 3 unannounced remasters from their collection and we are very excited about it.

The announcement comes from an investor presentation Take-Two published this week, which lists three unannounced “new iterations of previously released titles”.

These projects are listed alongside their upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X/S remasters Grand Theft Auto V, Kerbal Space Program, and the highly-anticipated stand-alone version of Grand Theft Auto Online. 

Unannounced Remasters

Take-Two have openly discussed the possibility and intention to create remasters of past titles before. Back in March last year, the company’s CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed this during the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference and stated that the company wouldn’t interested in releasing “simple ports”.

Remastering has always been a part of the strategy. We’ve done differently than the competition – we don’t just port titles over, we actually take the time to do the very best job we can making the title different for the new release, for the new technology that we’re launching it on. – Strauss Zelnick.

Zelnick went onto explain that Take-Two takes pride in improving the technology, upgrading the visuals, and making performance enhancements so the remasters can be experienced at the best of their ability on the new-gen consoles.

Take-Two recently released its Mafia: Trilogy Collection as a remaster for PS4 and Xbox One back in May 2020 which was really appreciated by its fans from their reviews on Metacritic, so fans of Take-Two can expect their trip to the past to be extremely nostalgic and rewarding to play all these years later.

Does this mean there will be more GTA remasters in the works? Well, during Take-Two’s third-quarter earnings back in February, Zelnick was asked the same thing and gave a non-committal response by saying he was inclined to leave it as a statement and let the schedule for any GTA remasters come from its developer Rockstar Games instead.

So, we don’t know what to expect yet, but Take-Two certainly is taking these remasters with great care and consideration.
