A few weeks ago it came to light that Call of Duty: Vanguard players could expect Ranked Playlists to be implemented into the game’s competitive multiplayer within the coming weeks. Despite no official release date being given yet, a rough time frame of when to expect League Play to be added has surfaced.

What to Expect from Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Ranked Playlists

One thing that has been confirmed is that Vanguard’s ranked game modes will be developed collaboratively by Sledgehammer and Treyarch. This is a good duo as Treyarch made the highly regarded Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and its popular League Play system.

A Twitter post from @TheGhostOfHope, a trusted leaker, claims that players can expect League Play to be available within ‘’the coming weeks’’. Although this isn’t very specific, it gives a fans an idea of the release window and when to expect it Ranked playlists to be available. Seeing as Season 1 is drawing to its halfway point, it would be reasonable to assume that League Play will be added at the start of Season 2. It could come at any point between now and then, or even after.

While @TheGhostOfHope does not indicate which aspects from Call of Duty: WW2’s ranked mode would be included, people are speculating on what might be included. Exclusive prizes are almost certainly on the way, with Calling Cards being the very least. Skill ratings and divisions, as well as the leaderboards contained in Call of Duty: WW2’s competitive play, are all possibilities. For the time being, fans can only guess, as official information is likely to take some time to emerge.

Although Call of Duty: Vanguard garnered mixed reviews upon its initial release, the Season 1 Battle Pass now includes two additional perks and a grenade for players to look forward to. Additional loadout options will also be unlocked throughout all Call of Duty: Vanguard loadouts, allowing players to experiment with new perks that compete with the current aggressive options.

The purpose of Perks in the Call of Duty franchise is to aid players as they navigate levels and slaughter one another in multiplayer mode.  Customized skills that players can use during matches, skills that give them advantages towards a team win and making Play of the Game, are among the rewards mentioned.

New Perks Being Added in Season 1 of Call of Duty: Vanguard

The Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 1 Battle Pass adds two new perks to the roster in this case. Serpentine is the first perk unlocked at Tier 1, and it allows players to take less damage from ballistics and explosives while sprinting. “Your eyesight pulses when adversaries are around, even through barriers,” according to the second perk – Intuition, which is acquired at Tier 44. Finally, the Special Incendiary Grenade is a new lethal weapon that “obscures an area in a white fog and burns those who come close.”

Players can “cut damage by more than a fifth of its typical value” while using the new Serpentine Perk, according to developers. Conventional sprinting just minimally reduces incoming damage.

Players with Intuition can “perceive hazards before they round corners or break through doors,” according to the perk’s description. “This is done without the need to suppress them like Piercing Range,” as in past Call of Duty games, “giving it a more passive option for those opting for more close-range engagements,” with short-range vision. By increasing the damage scale and lasting longer, the grenade rivals the Thermite and Molotov Cocktail.

With the inclusion of these perks and the grenade, players will have more options for customising their loadouts to fit their playing style. Players can reorganise and build loadouts for certain matches in Call of Duty: Vanguard, like as an SMG loadout for Shipment to enhance hip-fire kills on the small, chaotic level. With the correct perks and the right weaponry and tools, a player can rack up the kills become a force to be reckoned with.

Wanted to try out Vanguard? Been apprehensive about purchasing because it’s been bashed? All the bugs and exploits? Well the  Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer is free this weekend. This means you have the perfect opportunity to give the online a go. This was announced in an official Activision blog posted on November 16th. Good timing too, as they just patched some things in the game yesterday.

What Time Does the Free Call of Duty: Mulitplayer Weekend Start?

The Call of Duty: Vanguard free multiplayer weekend begins November 18th at 1pmET / 6pm GMT and ends November 22nd at 1pm ET / 6pm GMT.  The game isn’t available to pre-load, you’ll have to wait until the demo begins at that time to install the game’s multiplayer.

How to Download the Call of Duty Vanguard Free Multiplayer

While I can’t say for sure how the download process will work because the demo isn’t yet available, I can give some general advice based on how prior free multiplayer weekends for Black Ops Cold War worked.

1. Go to the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store on the web or on your platform of choice.
2. Search for “Vanguard free.” It’s possible you may also see the demo offered on the front page of either storefront once the above-listed start time rolls around.
3. The search should return some sort of Call of Duty: Vanguard free multiplayer demo.
4. Download that demo and play.

On PC, simply open Battle.net and select “play free” from the Call of Duty: Vanguard tab.

What’s Included in Vanguard’s Free Access Weekend?

Unlike previous free multiplayer or Zombies events, the initial one for Call of Duty: Vanguard gives players access to the whole competitive multiplayer component of the game. That means that throughout the free multiplayer weekend, you’ll have access to every map, mode, and playlist available in the full purchase.

The classic Shipment map from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare gets a new appearance in Call of Duty: Vanguard’s November 17th update. The fan-favourite has been given a redesign for the World War II setting. A few bug patches are also included in the patch notes for the 3GB update, including a fix for one that stopped players from equipping weapon camos.

Shipment is available for players now in a 24/7 mixed mode playlist. The map was the smallest from the original Modern Warfare’s selection. It has reappeared in a whole bunch of CoD titles over the years.

This time however the map has destructible walls, down to some of the shipping containers being bulletproof. This is because it features destructible walls and windows from Vanguard’s map pool.

In addition, the patch notes indicate a solution for PlayStation 5 players who were previously unable to start Vanguard if their console had less than 40GB of free space.

The update also fixed a glitch that caused players to crash while trying to submit a clan invite, as well as a bug that stopped players from equipping camos to their guns.

There’s a free Access Multiplayer weekend coming up Call of Duty: Vanguard, running from November 18th-22nd.

So that’s the run down of Call of Duty: Vanguard’s latest update.  The fact the game is free this weekend will hopefully draw some in new players, and makeup for what is regarded as one of  the worst UK CoD launch’s in 14 years.

Despite it’s flaws though, the latest entry in the Call of Duty franchise still has a lot to offer, and can only improve through patches and updates as demonstrated by the addition of Shipment.

Sledgehammer are certainly not neglecting the game, and hopefully they will continue to address the games various bugs and glitches.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is the series’ latest World War II instalment, putting a more over-the-top twist to the game in favour of its prior attempts to keep closer to historical truth. Players are already familiarising themselves with the game and achieving the crazy killstreaks that Call of Duty titles are known for.

As expected, the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard has had some issues. Some players  just aren’t connecting with the game as much as they did with earlier editions. Understandable, considering how much the gaming industry has grown and evolved since Call of Duty’s birth. Maybe it’s just the Xbox anniversary that has me nostalgic, but Vanguard just doesn’t satisfy in the same way World at War did. However, other issues, such as bugs, are also a strong contributing factor towards putting players off.

The bugs in Call of Duty: Vanguard presently range from frustrating to funny. On the funnier end, there’s an elevator bug that sends players into the sky like they’re going up in a big lift.

On the less enjoyable side of things, there is a bug with the FOV settings. At a given FOV level, the capture message displayed while capturing a point appears directly in the centre of the screen. With the writing in the way, this prohibits players from effectively aiming down sights.

According to Reddit users, this bug is caused by a specific FOV setting, however which one is unknown. It is not a new issue in the series, and it is not limited to a single platform, since commenters soon confirmed that it exists on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms. Until the bug is repaired or the FOV option that causes it is found, the maps in the game  will likely continue to be messed up, especially those with point capture.

The Likelihood of Vanguard Issues Being Fixed

This is certainly not the only problem that has a major influence on gameplay, but it may be one of the most easily fixed through settings. Other flaws create and have caused greater problems, and not all of them are easily overlooked. The Call of Duty: Vanguard menu problem causes match interruptions, which can entirely disrupt a game’s flow. Issues like this are ones that need addressing sooner rather than later to hang on to the game’s playerbase.

It’s always disappointing to see a big franchise launch afflicted with flaws like these, especially when other aspects that perform as planned are under-appreciated. Vanguard’s launch has been regarded as one of  the worst UK launch’s in 14 years. Despite it’s flaws though, the latest entry in the Call of Duty franchise still has a lot to offer, and can only improve through patches and updates. Sledgehammer are not neglecting the game, as they recently announced they have plans to nerf shotguns. They also updated their anti-cheating policy.

The post Call of Duty: Vanguard has FOV Glitch Causing Players Issues first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Finally, the highly anticipated launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard happens on Friday. The much loved Zombies mode will be playable in-game at launch, but it has been revealed that we should not expect to see the Dark Aether questline continue until later on. Instead, additional Zombies content will be released during the first season of the game, with the main mission arriving later. More precisely, it appears like the Main Quest will not begin until after Vanguard’s Season One, which kicks off on December 2^nd.

Zombies Main Questline Coming Later

In a recent blog post outlining all of the new features and what to expect in Zombies mode, Treyarch states “Starting on December 2nd, new Zombies content & features will begin to roll out in Vanguard.” They then went on to say “Players will also encounter some other surprise elements later in Season One that will set the stage for our upcoming Main Quest.”

There are a few crucial lines here that appear to imply the Main Quest won’t be available in-game until after Season One: “…later in Season One that will set the setting for our upcoming Main Quest” and “This Main Quest will be related to the arrival of an unexpected ally after Season One.” If this is the true, the Main Quest may not be available in Vanguard’s Zombies until late December or early 2022.

Previous Call of Duty seasons lasted around two months overall, and if Season One begins on December 2, it will expire somewhere in February of next year. For the time being, only time will tell. While you might not be  able to continue the ongoing Dark Aether storyline in Vanguard when it debuts on November 5, the traditional wave-based Zombies mode will be available from launch. The post CoD: Vanguard Zombies Won’t Feature ‘Dark Aether’ Quest Yet first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Treyarch’s involvement is definitely a positive after Sledgehammer’s previous lacklustre Zombies attempt in CoD WWII.

The Zombies storyline is set to continue on Call of Duty: Vanguard. This is the first time this has occurred outside the core Black ops series. The upcoming Zombies mode being developed by Treyarch is a prologue story to the one started last year in Cold War.

News of Treyarch’s involvement will be warmly received by fans of CoD’s Zombies modes. Other Call of Duty studios have taken their own shots at the wave-based survival game in the past (including Sledgehammer’s take on Nazi Zombies in 2017’s CoD: WW2), but none of them have captured the same enduring fanbase as Treyarch’s original Zombies mode, first seen in 2008’s World at War.

Activision hasn’t shed any further details on Vanguard’s upcoming Zombies mode, but we will likely hear more before the game’s November 5th release date.

Of course, this news comes alongside Vanguard’s full release trailer, which is finally with us. As I touched on in the linked article, the game looks better than I expected. It seems they have focussed on creating a (more or less) historically accurate title that is dark and gritty, with character depth and polished graphics. Hopefully, WWII can make a come back with this title, following an underwhelming last visit to the war period. Treyarch developing their Zombies mode this time around is definitely a step in the right direction for the upcoming entry.

It will launch on November 5th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S.

Call of Duty Championships 2015

$1 Million is up for grabs! Darn.. I should have entered..

Yesterday, Activision announced their plans for the 2015 Call of Duty Championships, which will see the best of the best of ‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’ players battle it out for $1 Million in prizes.

The championships will be held from 27th – 29th March in Los Angeles. A grand total of 32 teams from around the world will compete for that all important title “World Champions”, as well as the $1 Million total tournament purse. This year, the event will be sponsored by, in part, Microsoft/Xbox and Major League Gaming.

“We developed Advanced Warfare with the competitive community in mind, and we can’t wait for the top talent from around the world to compete in the Call of Duty Championships,” Sledgehammer co-founder Glen Schofield proclaimed  in a statement.

The qualifying events are to be held through Xbox One online, whilst the actual final match championship will be broadcast LIVE on Xbox One Live and other networks. To “boost eSports to new heights” is what Activision is aiming for this year with the championships.

The championships are open to anyone at all; whether you’re a hardcore professional or have just recently started out. For more information on all of this; head to the Major League Gaming website.
