20 minutes of gameplay from the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies has been leaked, one week prior to its release.
This leak gives us the most extensive look at the upcoming game so far.
According to the devs, Vanguard is the franchise’s first crossover: a precursor to Black Ops Cold War Zombies:
“This cooperative experience continues and intertwines with the Dark Aether story to create deeply engaging lore, all while innovating on the core gameplay that this mode is famous for.”
Call of Duty Vanguard and its accompanying Zombies mode is set to release this Friday, November 5th. Pre-order it here on any console so you don’t miss out on any zombie action!
During a New York Comic Con panel, Sledgehammer contractor Sam Maggs discussed the upcoming shooter and its characters:
“We came into this process saying, ‘how do we make the iconic CoD characters?’ because you don’t really have that in Call of Duty right now,” she said. “You know when you think about a game like Halo, you think of Master Chief, but when you think of CoD there’s not really those standout characters.”
It’s true that Call of Duty lacks the iconic mascot that other shooter games usually tote. I’ve never thought of this as a negative, though. However, I get that it isn’t as marketable – any franchise wants its iconic characters to make merch of. I just hope that the characters are introduced naturally, and we can grow authentic love for them. I don’t want a cheesy mascot shoved down
Last month, Sledgehammer announced it’s opening a new UK studio based in Guildford – a well-known hub for game development – to support Vanguard’s live seasons as well as its projects in the upcoming years. We can presume they’ve got big plans ahead!
