The majority of my Star Trek knowledge comes from a smattering of YouTube clips, a half-remembered Film Theory anecdote, “why does God need a star ship” and Shaun’s brief analysis of the Ferengi in his Harry Potter retrospective. But hey, I like a challenge, plus I have a couple Trekkie friends who’ll probably like this, so hope you enjoy!

Star Trek Resurgence was initially announced in the 2021 Game Awards, being developed by Dramatic Lab and largely featuring staff from TellTale Games before it’s first bankruptcy.

Smash cut to right now and IGN have been handed in-progress test footage of a scene from the game (click here to view) where the player can make different dialogue choices.

Gameplay Breakdown: This is only a small section of the game, so maybe there will be different gameplay elements or more branching paths with future updates, but as-is, it seems decent. The voice acting is a good quality and the visuals are good for what amounts to a story-based v-slice with some dialogue prompts. I just hope the game lets you go full emo-Karen on everyone and see what fresh hell can happen… Is what I would say, but my ass won’t choose mean dialogue options in Persona 5 (Psst! Buy it!) after a third playthrough because of my feewingz, so there’s that!

The visuals aren’t anything too special, but are likely to improve since this is only test footage. Overall, it seems to take a lot of inspiration from Mass Effect (which you’re more than welcome to buy, wink wink, nudge nudge), so maybe the story elements will also link to a secondary gameplay loop, like action sections, puzzle-solving, sky’s the limit… Or is it? Are skies the limit in space? Is space a sky!? Are sky limits a plot by Big Space to sell more planes!? I don’t need sleep, I need answers!

Star Trek: Resurgence releases in Spring 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Fortnite… Honey. Baby… My dearest Jalepeno Popper! Brooklyn Nine Nine is literally standing right there! If you wanted to crossover with a sitcom of The Hashtag Lols TM, maybe go with the one that more young people know- Oh wait, the majority of the Fortnite player base is in their 30s… Okay, you get off on a technicality, but I still stand by the fact that watching Jake Peralta do 360-noscope headshots on fools before enacting an emote of the Backstreet Boys killer joke would be hi-larious! I’d tell you why, but that’d be nothing but a heartbreak AND a mistake… No, I won’t tell you why, stop asking!

Can’t be too mad though, seeing a beloved 90s sitcom fogey run around the map talking about “you kids today with your Face Books and your Snap Talks and your Ted Chats and-” only to get detonated from an enemy player’s clinger is also a particularly entertaining thought.

Back to the Actual News: Epic Games have allegedly cut a deal with Paramount Pictures, according to Nick Baker in this Xbox Era Podcast episode. He goes on to claim this deal will include multiple Paramount properties.

“I’ve been told that apparently Paramount has signed a deal with Epic to bring properties to Fortnite. The main one that I had heard about was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles […] If they’ve done the deal with Fortnite, it obviously opens the door. So, for example, we’ve got two Venoms, like, three Spider-Men […] We’ve already got [Master] Chief, so do we get Halo TV Chief?” – Nick Baker.

What Else Is There: While this may be a bit of a long shot, Star Trek is currently owned by Viacom, which itself owns Paramount, so if (God-willing) Fortnite brings back the lightsabers in another Star Wars event, maybe we’ll also get to see the Mandalorians duke it out with Spock and Picard.

On a more realistic note, Paramount owns Nickelodeon, which has the rights to Spongebob, as well as South Park and Shrek! Considering Fortnite’s affinity for including animated characters from Rick and Morty to Naruto, it could be done. Heck, if PUBG can crossover with Baby Shark, (why yes, I did write on that, thanks for noticing) I’m pretty sure Nickelodeon wouldn’t take much of a hit for letting one of their cash cows shoot “Halo man” (wink) in the face.

Calling all Star Trek fans! Here’s something to get your weekend off to a great start. Last night, we got the first sneak-peak at a new third-person Star Trek adventure game. We told you The Game Awards would deliver, right?

Titled Star Trek Resurgence, the game is being developed by a new studio called Dramatic Labs. Whilst that may have some of you feeling a bit cautious at first, there’s nothing to worry about here. Despite their new status, the company is actually filled with experienced developers who used to work for Telltales on games such as The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. Does that put your mind at ease a little bit?

You had every right to be taken aback right beforehand. After all, when was the last time the Star Trek franchise got a genuinely well received video game? Star Trek online back in 2010? There’s nothing really of note since then. So to then hear a rookie studio is taking on this beloved project, well you’d only fear the worst! But like we say, relax, we reckon they’ve got this. Dramatic Labs Hoping To Bring Star Trek Back To Its Rightful Place

What exactly can we come to expect from this new game then? If the team is full of former Walking Dead devs, well a good story-driven experience that’s for sure! According to reports, the game will tell an original story set in the era just after the events of Star Trek :The Next Generation. 

You will be stationed aboard the U.S.S RESOLUTE and take control of Officer Jara Rydek and Engineer Carter Diaz. Subsequently, you’ll be tasted in figuring out a the mysteries of two alien civilisations which are about to go to war. They’ll be plenty of opportunites to explore the vast Star Trek universe and we just cannot wait to see it in all its glory!

“As fans of Star Trek, it’s truly an honor to be crafting a story which puts players right in the heart of the action, where significant choices and decisions will affect the entire narrative,” said Kevin Bruner, Founder of Dramatic Labs. “Built from the ground up using Epic’s Unreal engine and our proprietary narrative engine, this game showcases our team’s evolution in creating thought-provoking story-rich adventures.”

MCM Comic Con Midlands 2015

Go2Games’ first ever Comic Con and the first of many to come this year! Here’s the low-down!

Saturday 14th February 2015 marked Go2Games’ first ever MCM Comic Con, which was held in the Midlands at the International Centre, Telford. We arrived on Thursday evening and stayed in an incredible secluded cottage/mansion, which our team thoroughly enjoyed. It also felt like we were a part of a horror film whenever nightfall came, which was an added bonus!

Friday was set-up day and we spent the afternoon/evening erecting our grand, inflatable tent, our fantastic banner and filling the tent with all of our goodies ready for the following morning, whilst our lovely photographers (Patrick and Joe) filmed the whole process! Here’s a look at our tent on set-up day. Pardon the bags and boxes; we were still unpacking and setting up our lovely merchandise!

Saturday morning gave an early start to the team as we arrived back at the venue, just before 8am, to give the finishing touches to our tent, merchandise, and costumes! An hour later saw one of the longest queues that I’ve probably ever seen, which was filled with such incredible cosplayers, all aching to get in to the nerve centre! Here are a few recognisable characters that I met along the way…

I was also ecstatic to meet some of my own kind along the way, and right outside our big old tent too! Does anyone recognise this marvellous man below too?…

I was very lucky to have a photo with Mark Meer, who voices the character Commander Shepard from the extremely popular franchise – Mass Effect. What a lovely guy he is too!

The whole day went extremely well. Excellent cosplay (the winners of the Cosplay Masquerade are featured at the very top of this piece), brilliant atmosphere, great customers and we all very much felt at home and in our element being surrounded by such wonderfully outrageous characters! As you can see, our tent was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Even the Star Wars clan!…

A brilliant day was had by all and we celebrated with a lovely meal made by our colleague Sam and toasted to our success! 

These morph suits, which we sell and have been modelled by the Dark Lord (Spiderman) and myself (Deadpool), sparked a lot of social interest…

Even Jean Luc Picard came along with us and gave us a helping hand. His forte is clearly cooking and he swiftly became our head chef for the stay…

I also, as per usual, managed to get myself into a spot of bother whilst doing the rounds…
