Thanks to RealIndica you can now play RDR2 with AMD FSR 2.0

This mod is based on the Cyberpunk 2077 FSR 2.0 mod created by PotatoOfDoom for cyberpunk 2077. It brings AMD’s FideltyFX Super Resolution 2.0 to Red Dead Redemption 2. This mod replaces DLSS with FSR 2.0. So if you don’t have RTX GPU can now make use of AMD’s latest scaling technology. this allows players to play an upscaled version of Red Dead Redemption 2 through team red’s technology rather than team green’s. You should note that this mod is not an official release of rockstar and there might be some bugs.

How it works

Upscaling works by rewriting pixels to enhance the picture quality. So, the AI takes the visual quality at 1080p and “upscales” it to 1440p. This is done through software and not hardware, so less work is put on graphic cards. Using AMD FSR 2.0 with Red Dead Redemption will improve the graphics on your gaming PC, whilst having smooth gameplay and higher frame rates.

You can download this mod from Nexusmods, this mod works by replacing the game’s Navidia DLSS library with AMD FSR 2.0 files (via Wccftech). Online players use at your own risk because messing with files can result in a server ban.

From watching MxBenchmarksPC video where they compared it to a different graphics mod you can see the difference it makes. The FSR mod has sharper graphics, the colour is more vibrant and the frame runs with higher frame rates. the only downside I noticed was that when there is movement from the main character the video quality becomes blurry.

As for the game itself, Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of Rockstar’s most successful releases, eating away at GTA 5. In fact, Red Dead is the highest-selling game of the past decade. Gamers have fallen in love with its gorgeous graphics, the quality of the writing, and the development of each character.

Four months after launching exclusively for the Nintendo Switch, role-playing simulation game Rune Factory 5 will be coming to Steam this July.

The latest installment of the Rune Factory series, launched in March 2022, just four months ago on the Nintendo Switch. Now, publishers Marvelous and XSEED Games have announced they will be bringing the console’s fully updated version to PC, along with graphical enhancements, new features and several downloadable packs for a fuller gaming experience.

The action role playing game, which originally started life as a spin off of the farming sim series Harvest Moon, delivers a full 3D adventure which sees players exploring expansive dungeons and battling dangerous monsters to unravel a mystery surrounding their charming home of Rigbarth. Between days of adventure and exploration the player will tend their farm, participate in local events and build meaningful friendships with a cast of quirky lovable townsfolk.

Beyond the new story and setting, Rune Factory 5 also introduced many well received new features into the franchise such as link attacks and co-op cooking. This also includes the long sought after option for same-sex marriage, something which the community considers to be a groundbreaking change for the series. However, most of the gameplay experience remains unchanged from previous entries, with the player needing to farm, craft and battle monsters to progress.

Rune Factory 5 will also be releasing with a ‘Digital Deluxe Edition’, featuring 13 exclusive outfits based on characters from Rune Factory 4 and have a handful of Downloadable Content available at launch. On top of this, owners of Rune Factory 4 Special on Steam will have access to costumes of past protagonists Lest and Frey, while fan favorite characters Doug and Margaret will come to live in Rigbarth as guest NPC’s.

In celebration of Rune Factory 5‘s release on PC, Steam is offering a 15% discount on pre-orders for both the Standard £49.99 release and the £59.99 Digital Deluxe Edition of the game, as well as exclusive pre-order only costumes.

FOR PLAYSTATION, PC AND XBOX WITH SWITCH AND OTHER VERSIONS REXING AT A LATER DATE

Ubisoft has announced that Roller Champions will be skating on May 25th!

Revealed in 2019 and originally planned to release the year after, Roller Champions is a “Ubisoft Original” free-to-play PvP online competitive sports game produced by Ubisoft Montreal.

Roller Champions looks like the young whippersnapper offspring of the ancient but still fun Brutal Deluxe SpeedBall 2 and recent competitive darling Rocket League! But with less cars especially much less of the rocket-powered type cars!

From the trailers the premise looks simple enough with similar competitive offensive/defensive and counteroffensive / defensive play and tactics with the aim to score more goals than the opposing side while navigating obstacles and different themed arenas.

Roller Champions will be available next week on Xbox One and PS4, Xbox Series X/S and PS5 via backward compatibility, and for PC through the Ubisoft Store.

Of course Roller Champions will also be rolling to Nintendo Switch, the Epic Games Store, Stadia and Amazon Luna at a later date.

“In each match, you and two teammates will face off against another team of three in an elliptical arena,” Ubisoft says. “The goal is straightforward – reach five points before your opponents do – and the basics are easy to grasp”.

“Keep control of the ball by skating and passing, steal it from your opponents with a well-timed tackle, and make a full lap of the arena to open up the goal and take your shot”.

“Once you’ve got the fundamentals down, you can level up your game by practicing and socializing in the skatepark hub, and then using your skills in matches to execute team manoeuvres and do multiple laps to increase the points each goal is worth.”

Roller Champions will support the now standard cross-play and cross-progression at launch.

Roller Champions will also feature a free Roller Pass, which players can progress through to unlock cosmetic items for their skater, and a premium version offering access to exclusive gear that won’t be available in the item shop.

The Original Open World Driving Game Was Originally Scheduled To Arrive In Sept 2022!

Nacon has declared that development of Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown has been pushed into 2023 and that the last-generation versions of the game have all been cancelled from development.

From a recent blog post, the developer stated that its “goal with Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is to make it the most polished gaming experience in the franchise by spending more time on its development”.

Nacon’s “Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown” was previously scheduled to be released in September 2022 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Nacon confirmed on Wednesday that the new entry in the long running open world driving franchise will no longer be released for Microsoft‘s and Sony‘s last-generation consoles.

“Finally, with the aim of making the most of the technology in the latest consoles and maximising the overall quality of the game, Nacon has decided to no longer develop Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.”

Nacon also revealed that it is working towards a timeline for several closed betas. While the studio didn’t confirm when these tests would take place, they said the tests would allow them “to gather your valuable feedback so we can keep improving the game’s quality until it releases, while also staying in more regular contact with you”.

Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown was Unveiled in July 2020, the third game in the long-running Test Drive franchise’s open-world Unlimited sub-series promises to let players get to grips with “extraordinary cars” within Hong Kong “a luxurious island world recreated at 1:1 scale”.

“The brand new Test Drive Unlimited keeps the DNA from the first games, and revamps it for the modern era,” promises the blurb accompanying a trailer released last April.

“You have the freedom to progress however you like, the classic open championship concept returns too. Live your best life. Race, cruise, and hang out with your friends until the sun goes down and even after!”

Playstation has allegedly told its studios they can’t comment publicly on reproductive rights

Bungie’s CEO Pete Parsons has stated Sony Interactive Entertainment’s ( SIE ) imminent acquisition of the studio won’t stop the creators of Destiny from standing up for what it believes in.

Last week SIE Head Jim Ryan sent studio employees an email reminding them to “Respect differences of opinion” with regard to the sensitive subject of reproductive rights.

The email reminder which was sent after a leaked Supreme Court Draft apparently exposed plans to overrule Roe vs. Wade, which legalised abortion across the US is said to have enraged Playstation employees and sent shockwaves across all of Sony’s studios including Insomniac Games the creatives behind Spiderman.

According to leaked emails sent from Insomniac studio Head Ted Price, the studio had compiled a comprehensive reply to Playstation Studios boss Herman Hulst in which a large collective of Insomniac Studios staff appealed to the parent company to “Do better by employees directly affected” by the situation.

SIE are now reportedly working to improve inter-studio relations collaborating closely with Insomniac Games to put forward a scheme to provide financial aid to employees who have to make travel and temporary living arrangements outside of their home states to receive reproductive care.

Playstation is also reportedly planning to match a $50,000 donation Insomniac is making to the “Women’s Reproductive Rights Assistance Project”

Price however also added that Playstation won’t allow any of its studios to publicly comment on reproductive rights.

Bungie, the latest in a long line of targeted studio acquisitions in the early stages from Sony Playstation is one of the most high profile video-game companies to vocalise publicly its own position on the subject of reproductive rights in recent weeks.

“The leaked draft decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade represents a blow to freedom in America and is a direct attack on human rights,” It had said earlier this month.

“Standing up for reproductive choice and liberty is not a difficult decision to make, and Bungie remains dedicated to upholding these values.”

Earlier in the week, a Twitter user added it would “really suck if Sony put a muzzle on Bungie in future”.

A senior community manager at Bungie responding to the comment offered full confidence that “there will never be a ‘muzzle’ big enough to stop us from standing up for what’s right.”

The statement was given full support by Bungie CEO Parsons, who simply replied “Yes.”

Sony publicly revealed in January that Bungie and Sony had come to an agreement to collaborate and operate under the Sony umbrella of its world-renowned creative Sony Studios. The agreement between Sony and Bungie allows Bungie full autonomy and freedom of publishing rights to its own Destiny and Destiny 2 IP remaining a wholly independant multiplatform studio and has reiterated that future Bungie releases will remain multiplatform for the foreseeable future.

The Sony acquisition of Bungie is reportedly valued at a whopping $3.6 Billion and is currently still pending due to FTC investigations but Sony remains confident expecting the acquisition to be fully complete by the end of the year.

Overwatch Anniversary Remix event returns for round 2 introducing new styles, colours and fan favourite skins!

The first Overwatch 2 Beta test window has closed. The Beta that was available for several weeks allowed players to test run and try “Overwatch Hero Reworks” which brought new maps and game design elements into the fray. To keep momentum and interest in the game high, a new round in the Overwatch Anniversary Remix event is already well underway that will introduce new versions of some of Overwatch’s most memorable costumes and outfits.

The “Overwatch Anniversary Remix Vol. 2” event returns on [ May 17th – June 7th ] bringing with it brand new colour variations to 6 previously released skins while also bringing back remixed skins from “Overwatch Anniversary Remix Vol. 1” again. The new alternate outfits on offer include Black Wolf Hanzo ( Okami Legendary Skin ), Hydra Symmetra ( Dragon Symmetra Legendary Skin ), Neon Cat Sombra ( Black Cat Legendary Skin ), Night Owl Ana ( Snow Owl Legendary Skin ), Poison Dart Lucio ( Ribbit Lucio Legendary Skin ) and Noxious Roadhog ( Toxic Roadhog Legendary Skin ).

The listing includes Terms, Phrases and Abbreviations. Some you may have encountered on your digital travels through Los Santos, some are easily recognisable and deciphered and some are totally unheard of depending on your gaming experience journey.

Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries has been attacked by angry fans of the game after the Season 02: Lone Wolves update of the game had recently released. The studio made controversial changes to the game that has affected enjoyment for the already shrinking playerbase. One of which recently, was the removal of the “glitch” weapon, the “tank gun”, which was found in the campaign section of the game. The Tank gun was a popular, overpowered gun that the player could find that would shoot Scorpion tank shells. It was often used in speedruns, legendary difficulty runs, LASO runs and for fun in general. Using it made the campaigns boss fights rather trivial as it was so powerful.

Due the the public outcry about the change in the latest update, 343 Industries has decided that they will be adding the gun back in the upcoming Season 2 patch. This is just one of the changes announced about the reversal of changes by the community manager of 343 Industries, John Junyszek.

The tank gun was thought to be a nod back to the Scarab Gun easter egg found in Halo 2 and Halo 2: Anniversary, which was a well-known feature of the games. The tank gun however, was supposedly not intended to be included in the release version of the game, which is why it was dubbed a glitch.

It was an invisible object, with no name, placed on top of the far railgun of the crashed ship, on the mission Outpost Tremonius. While in the players hand, it remains invisible and affects the use of the players abilities like vaulting over walls, attacking with melee and using certain equipment. However, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, you can and will absolutely destroy enemies and send them flying using this gun. It took players less than a month into the games release to find it, and quickly became well-received.

343 Industries claim that they are actively listening to feedback and taking it seriously. It is hoped by the players of Infinite, that the developers will continue doing this as to prevent such contentious changes again in the future. The developers have previously mentioned Halo Infinite being part of a 10 year plan of the Halo games universe, so it is in their best interest to keep spirits high to retain loyal players, while trying to draw in new players.

In the immortal words of Shaun (for the second time in my blog-writing experience), “I play video games… I PLAY video games”. That said, the production and behind-the-scenes insanity can be just as entertaining, rage-inducing, hilarious or somber as any great game.

So, without further ado, here’s 5 controversies and “controversies” I found particularly interesting:

1: Activision Blizzard’s “frat boy culture”.

I’ve made no secret of my deep-seated borderline erotic passion for mocking Bobby Kotick, now former Coca-Cola board executive and extremely soon-to-be former CEO of Activision Blizzard, the company behind Overwatch, World of Warcraft and…*checks notes* Spider-Man Friend or Foe!? Used to play it all the time with my brother… Hard to segue from that into the severity of the controversies, but I’ll try:

The company perpetuated a culture of sexism, sexual assault and protecting the abusers in the company, Kotick chief among them. The worst acts included groping, coercion, blackmail with nudes acquired from said coercion, crunch time (a horrible and unfortunately common practice in the gaming, animation and manga industries) and unequal pay between male and female workers.

Needless to say, I could make this whole list on just ActiBlizz shenanigans if I wanted to, but for now, let’s keep it to just two with-

2: “Buttgate”!

I only heard of this one through brief glimpses of trailers and online cultural osmosis at the time, but as I understand it, here’s what happened: A lot of promotional media for Overwatch pending it’s release just so happened to reveal the character Tracer packs what terminally online fetishists would refer to as “Whooty” (white booty).

Reactions to Tracer were largely divided into three camps: Those who started frothing at the mouth (and other organs).

Those who sparked discussion on sexualization of female characters in gaming.

And the anti-feminist YouTube skeptic crowd who claim feminists are the ones ruining games… Speaking of anti-feminists:

3: GamerGate!

This one’s too fascinating for me to recount in just a couple witty paragraphs. The saga of GamerGate is full of twists and turns.

Non-existent game reviews causing seething hatred. Cheating allegations. The transition of the atheist skeptic YouTube movement towards Anti-Feminist YouTube, which in turn lead to the rise of progressive leftist YouTube. The LITERAL Swat Team… And a 4Chan nutter made a game about assaulting one Anita Sarkeesian for the incredibly horrible crime against humanity of talking about games through a feminist critique on the internet!

Ian Danskin covers GamerGate in much more detail with his UC Merced Talk. Needless to say, this is an Oscar-bait biopic waiting to happen folks!

4: The Corrupted Blood Incident.

Of all these controversies, thank God this one doesn’t have a silly name!

Back when World of Warcraft was near it’s peak in popularity, there was a boss enemy with a virus ability that proved deadly to players… Try saying that three times fast!

While the virus couldn’t spread to players outside of combat with Hagfar the Fart-Sniffer or whoever it was, the devs forgot to extend that luxury to in-game pets of the player base!

So, the virus began to spread throughout the entire game, Blizzard were wracking their heads for solutions and player behavior towards the virus in this time turned out shockingly similar to the fresh hell that was 2020’s global pannini!

Twitch and Streamlabs have joined forces help streamers improve broadcasts from an Xbox, without the need for a capture card. The web-based Streamlabs Studio will allow streamers to customize their broadcasts with widgets and overlays, such as a chat panel or live stream alerts, making them more appealing visually and in terms of practicality.

“Live streaming gives viewers unprecedented access to their favorite creators. Real-time viewer engagement via chat and alerts create incredible shared experiences,” Streamlabs’ head of product, Ashray Urs, said in a statement. “In the past, creating professional broadcasts and engaging viewers from a console has been challenging. With Streamlabs Studio, you can transform console gameplay into a high-quality live stream production with viewer engagement tools to interact with your community.”

Typically, Twitch streamers who broadcast their Xbox console gameplay have had to jump through a series of hoops to do so. You have to run the video through a PC with the help of a capture card if you want to add onscreen donation alerts or custom layouts. Xbox owners can now select “Streamlabs” as a destination in the Twitch app and log into the Streamlabs Studio website to customize the stream. The site also works on mobile and tablets, so you don’t even need a PC to personalize your stream, or to switch between preset scenes.

All these features in Streamlabs aren’t free, however. Streamlabs Prime costs 5 USD p/m or 50 p/a. However, it does make streaming more accessible.

If you’re not willing to shell out, Microsoft is supposedly working on an option to make Xbox streaming easier.
