The Tamagotchi is coming back for its 25th anniversary but this time its wearable. Fans can now raise their electronic pet from their wrist.
The upcoming watch pet will allow players to use a microphone to call out to it and use a touchscreen to pet it. The original Tamagotchi was initially released in November 1996 as an electronic toy for children. The new Tamagotchi from Japanese toy maker Bandai was spotted earlier this week by Kotaku, which will feature a touchscreen LCD and up to 30 hours of battery before needing to recharge.
As of now the Tamagotchi smartwatch will be sold by lottery, which you can apply for between June 17 and July 2. The winner will be announced later in July. Following the lottery giveaway the smartwatch will be on sale from November 23rd. The retail price will be approximately $68, with the additional ‘smart cards’ which can be inserted into the smartwatch retailing for $10.
The new smartwatch will also feature Tamagotchi Sweets Friends cards which will give you themed items like sweets and desserts to feed your pet.
