White Night
A 1930’s-inspired noir horror game to launch on 3rd March 2015 on PS4, Xbox One and PC
Created by former Alone in the Dark developers, White Night is set to release on 3rd March 2015 on the aforementioned consoles, which was announced by developer OSome Studio.
Set in Boston in the 1930s, White Night is described as an “old-school survival horror adventure” that features a unmistakable black-and-white film noir look. One of my favourites, might I add!
“We wanted to create something that people would enjoy, but also something that would stand out as unusual and refreshing in today’s survival horror landscape,” OSome Studio co-founder and creative director Ronan Coiffec has said on the PlayStation Blog. “That meant revisiting the themes that made classic horror games like the original Alone in the Dark so gripping: mature storytelling, strong characters, compelling environments, and equal respect for tension and terror,” he added. “White Night is a good old ghost story full of mystery, poetry, alchemy, and suspense.”
White Night is set in a creepy and deserted mansion, like many horror horror games before it, but with an exciting new noir feel to it! To get inspired, Coiffec and his team listened to jazz music from the 1930s, pored over black-and-white films of the era, and even rented a real mansion in Normandy where the team stayed for a week to “steep ourselves in the setting.”.. That’s precisely what I would have done. Well.. I’d do it anyway just for the heck of it!
