Everything You Need to Know About the xScreen
The portable screen is designed to plug directly into the Xbox Series S using its HDMI and USB ports, creating a laptop-like gaming experience, similar to portable screens created for the PS1 and GameCube. It was announced last month ahead of its Kickstarter campaign and allowed people to reserve the screen for $1 and lock in ‘early bird’ pricing at A$159 (£85).
It was then officially launched on July 7 at A$249 (£135) and managed to reach the A$13,000 goal within the first 20 minutes.
It currently stands at A$90,000 as of writing, with 428 backers and 28 days left to pledge.
The xScreen offers an 11.6″ IPS screen with a resolution of 1080p and a 60Hz refresh rate. This does mean that any Xbox Series S game that supports 4K resolution or 120fps won’t be able to use these features on the xScreen. It uses integrated power so that it can be powered by the Xbox Series S without the need for a second power adapter, as well as an integrated 5-watt speaker.
It weighs only 695g and can be placed in a 15″ laptop bag for transportation.
