“Want to know what happens AFTER the premiere?” they wrote on Friday.” We guarantee to expand the world of Dying Light 2 Stay Human for at least 5 years post launch with new stories, locations, in-game events and all the fun stuff you love!”
Numerous Development Delays for Dying Light 2
The sequel to 2015’s zombie survival game was announced at Xbox’s E3 2018 conference and was set to debut in spring 2020, but that date was pushed back to January 2020.
Following complaints of sexual harassment, narrative designer Chris Avellone left the project in June 2020, which impacted the development process. They also had issues with technical limitations, which meant the game had to be re-built from scratch essentially.
The Dying Light 2 developers responded to impatient fans in March by reading out some of their most hostile comments and assuring them that the game would be released this year.
The game’s first announced release date was set for December 7, 2021, but it was later moved back to February 4, 2022. It looks like it has been well worth the wait though.
Following opposition to its prior assertion that the game will take more than 500 hours to complete, the Dying Light 2 production team clarified the game’s length and responded to backlash from fans.
While the tweet was meant to be complimentary, it was met with criticism from players who felt it was too long for a single game. Techland then clarified in a follow-up tweet that the main storyline within the game is only 20 hours long. The total game time is inclusive of completing everything on offer. Check out some co-op gameplay that was recently released!
Dying Light 2 launches across all platforms on February 4th 2022. It’s available to pre-order from our store now!
