The original BioShock game was a historic title for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 generation when it was launched in 2007. It immediately became a tremendous success thanks to some great environmental storytelling used in-game. Bioshock: Infinite was almost as well received as the original instalment, however the 2010 sequel was not on the same scale. Now that a new game is in the works, fans of the series must be curious as to where things will go. Luckily, for those wandering what’s next there have been some leaks about some potential details of the next game.
BioShock Isolation Rumours
As shown in a series of tweets, there are rumours concerning the future BioShock game. This includes the possibility that it would be developed with Unreal Engine 5.The current working title for the game is BioShock Isolation. The most intriguing leak thus far claims that the fourth chapter of the franchise will have two different cities that are at war with each other.
The leaks display a slideshow with some resolution images. The words “there’s always a city” appear in the image, a reference to BioShock: Infinite’s significant plot discovery involving lighthouses. The presentation also features an image of two towns. One stands straight and the other, which appears to be built underneath it, upside down.
The top city is described as a “free and affluent society” on the slide, while the bottom city is described as an “isolated underground” metropolis. Another intriguing feature is the use of the third game’s bird and cage symbols. This could connect the new title to the environment, narrative, or characters of BioShock Infinite.

The first BioShock was praised for its fantastic storytelling, but it also had a strong horror element to it, which was mostly carried over into the sequel. Infinite, on the other hand, eschewed the horror and aquatic themes in favour of a political and philosophical drama set in the skies. It’s anyone’s guess which route the franchise’s next instalment will go, but hopefully soon we will learn more about what could be the next entry into the BioShock franchise.
BioShock Isolation is currently rumoured to be in development.
