Filming for Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 begins with some new acquisitions, namely Chukwudi Iwuji.
Iwuji’s role is unspecified despite director James Gunn’s reveal of the move. Gunn took to Twitter on Monday to announce that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has officially started filming. In doing so, he revealed a picture of the main cast in celebration of the occasion. Many fans were left shocked discovering that this picture included Iwuji, who plays Clemson Murn in Gunn’s upcoming HBO Max series Peacemaker. After speculation that Iwuji had joined the Guardians 3 cast spread like wildfire, Gunn himself updated Twitter to confirm the exciting news.
In addition to his starring role in Peacemaker, Iwuji’s acting credits include parts in Barry, John Wick 2, Daniel Isn’t Real, and The Underground Railroad miniseries.
“Chuk has indeed joined the cast,” Gunn wrote. “After working with him on Peacemaker, I wasn’t about to let go of one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with – so I gave him the role most every big-name actor in Hollywood wanted.”

Despite Marvel not yet unveiling which character Iwuji will be playing, Gunn’s dialect suggests it is a rather significant one. As always, take this with a grain of salt. Until we hear an official confirmation regarding roles, then I wouldn’t speculate too much. At least for now, we know we can expect to see Iwuji join our favourite ensemble on their next journey. Guardians of the Galaxy 3’s release date is set for May 5, 2023, and we can’t wait.
In other news, October and the beginning of November have seen some big next-gen titles being released, including the likes of Call of Duty: Vanguard, FIFA 22, Far Cry 6, and Left 4 Dead’s spiritual successor, Back 4 Blood.
