Recent leaks have suggested that e3 2022 is happening, although it will be an online only event. This should probably not be too surprising, given the covid 19 pandemic is still an issue some even organizers need to take into account, even if it may seem to be passed.
Previously it had been roumored that this would not be the case. Though the organisers had previously stated that e3 2022 would be a purely digital event, recent rumores indicate that it may have been canceled outright.
These rumors may be false though, in light of recent new information. Renowned insider tom henderson has sent a tweet claiming to have new info from the ESRB. according to henderson, emails where sent from the ESRB to game devs that referred to E3 2022 as being digital only. This wouldnt make sense if the event was cancelled, so it is safe to assume that if this is true, the event is on.
It also helps that Tom Henderson is a very reliable source. He nailed the release date of cod vanguard, and while he was wrong about GTA trilogy being pushed back to 2022, Rockstar instead pushed back the Ps5/Xbox Series X versions of GTA 5 for the same reason stated.
