It saddens me to say that The LEGO Movie was passed over for an Oscar nomination in Best Animated Film category yesterday.
Fortunately, with writer and director Philip Lord’s talents, they will not be held down!
It’s okay. Made my own! pic.twitter.com/kgyu1GRHGR

This is not a tragedy. Congrats to incredible crew and cast of The Lego Movie, who made a classic. — philip lord (@philiplord) January 15, 2015
While a huge box-office success and a critical favourite, it’s possible The LEGO Movie’s lengthy live action sequences disqualified it from consideration. Unfortunately the snub means the film’s Australian animators, Animal Logic – best known for their work on The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Harry Potter: The Goblet of Fire, 300, the Academy Awards-winning Happy Feet and The Matrix – are sadly slipping through without the kudos on this one that they so clearly deserve!
It’s okay. As Twitter user Kid President points out, Space Jam wasn’t nominated on release either.
@philiplord @ElizabethBanks You are awesome! It’s okay. Space Jam wasn’t nominated when it came out either. THANK YOU for making a classic. — Kid President (@iamkidpresident) January 15, 2015
With Daniel stating the rather poignant fact: Golden statues don’t pick the winners. History does.
