The most recent Forza Horizon 4 update has introduced a huge bug which prohibits the game to run on Xbox Series X and S.
A comment was published on the Xbox Series X Reddit page advising players to be weary of the bug, saying ‘do not update Forza Horizon 4.’
The comment continued to say ‘There is a new update round about 7 GB. It breaks the game. The game won’t start any more on Series consoles. Not just me, the whole Forza subreddit has the problem. My whole Xbox black-screened and shut off when I first tried to open it.’
The official Forza Support account took to Twitter to have their say on the issue, confirming that there was a problem. You can see the tweet below:
The team is currently working on a fix and hoping to have an update by tomorrow. We thank you for your patience. https://t.co/SvLUEI8gX5

Forza Support’s Twitter account later advised players that there was a way around this issue but could delete their progress. They continued to state ‘The current workaround is to take your console offline, launch the game, then re-enable online via the Xbox Series X/S dashboard. DO NOT attempt these steps if you’ve already deleted your local save. This will cause you to lose your progress and start the game from scratch.’
A few hours later, a Tweet added ‘The team is currently working on a fix and hoping to have an update by tomorrow Friday. We thank you for your patience.’
Forza Horizon 4 was originally released for Xbox One and PC in 2018, but was since updated for Xbox Series X/S in 2020. In the same year the game was also made available on Android devices through Game Pass Ultimate.
