Big news is set to be revealed to the gaming world shortly. Host and creator of The Game Awards Geoff Keighley has now reported that the December 9 show will feature a world premiere that he has “been working on with a developer for 2.5 years”. What could this be, we wonder.
Last Sunday, Keighley tweeted that he dropped in to see the developer in Summer 2019. Unfortunately, that was the last time he visited studios around the world so we’ve been left in the lurch since then.
Despite last year’s event not being in front of a live audience, we will now see a return to an in-person event which is set for December 9 at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. We’re glad its going to be returning in some style.
2.5 years sounds like a long time, but summer of 2019 was actually my last global tour to visit developers. I always have so much fun visiting studios and hearing about their projects. Hope to do it again in 2022.

The Game Awards 2021: Everything You Need To Know
This will be the eight edition of the annual event, and we just cannot wait for it! It will undoubtedly be a grand occasion, with an on-stage orchestra, celebrity guests, the awards and a plethora of game reveals. Just what we like to see down here at go2games.
Who’s up for what though? Well, Arkane’s Deathloop is nominated for nine prizes, Insomniac’s Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is up for six, while Hazelight’s It Takes Two and Double Fine’s Psychonauts each received five nominations.
It’s certainly going to be a tight contest that’s for sure. The ones up for the big prize, the Game of The Year, are Deathloop, It Takes Two, Metroid Dread, Psychonauts 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Resident Evil Village.
Previously, the main game of The Game Awards 2020 was the Last of Us Part 2, picking up a total of seven of the ten prizes it was nominated for. That’ll be a tough feat to follow this year, but developers will be hopeful they can achieve it. Additionally, we saw the reveals of a reboot of Perfect Dark and an untitled Mass Effect game. Check out what former lead writer at Bioware had to say upon the prospects of a TV Show for the Mass Effect franchise here.
