As part of the Season 4 update on Thursday, the new MG82 Light Machine Gun (LMG) was added into Warzone player’s arsenals. However, as it often is with new weapons introduced by Raven, the MG82 appears to be meta-shifting once again; with many streamers and notable Warzone content creators affirming the weapon as being extremely overpowered.

Developer Raven Software quickly acknowledged the complaints from the community, playfully tweeting “The MG 82 (BOCW) made one too many trips to the Pack-a-Punch machine before deploying to Verdansk. Element 115 is off-limits in #Warzone so we will be making an adjustment to this Weapon soon.”
The MG82 looks like it is on track to receive one of the fastest nerfs amongst new weapon introductions since Warzone was created, so any players looking to take advantage of the new Meta will have to move fast.
For players wondering why it is that Raven tend to introduce Meta-shifting weapons so frequently, earlier this year Raven’s creative director Amos Hodge noted in a VGC interview:
“With so many guns – we’re nearing close to 100 – there’s always going to be one or two that are the best and part of the meta, but we want to make sure that we’re constantly changing that so the meta doesn’t get stale and boring. If the meta was still the M4 from when we launched, it would be boring.”
Ah… the good old days, when my trusty M4 was all I needed to conquer Verdansk. He may have a point though, if the Meta remained the same it would indeed get boring pretty quickly and these new weapons do keep the game fresh. For me, I find the strength of the new introductions to be the issue. I do agree that shifting the Meta is definitely a good thing to keep the game fresh but often the new introductions are so strong that players are forced to quickly level up a weapon in order to compete, just for it to be nerfed. This seems to be the case with the MG82. Are you guys enjoying Season 4 and the new MG82 meta? Let us know in the comments.
