You Might Have Missed These In The Animal Crossing New Horizon’s Direct
Friday – 15th October at 3pm BST, Nintendo premiered the Animal Crossing New Horizons direct. I’m sure we can all say there was far more added than we expected. There were accurate predictions made earlier this year, which we spoke about in this blog. With all the excitement, it can be hard to catch everything. So far we’ve seen Brewster’s Cafe ‘The Roost’ added, cooking, farming, an invitation feature where you can invite your favourite villagers to your home, new emotions, hairstyles, customisations for Nookmile items and a ton more, but what did we miss?
1. Brewster’s Memories
I think we can all agree, the spotlight was brutally swiped away from Brewster this direct, with him having such little screentime. However, something some of us failed to notice is that he framed all his memories. Animal Crossing Wild World, Animal Crossing City Folk or ‘Let’s Go To The City’ in Europe and Animal Crossing New Leaf.
If you look carefully, towards the right side of the room. You can see three pictures. One from Animal Crossing Wild World, where K.K. is performing live on stage (even Brewster is a big K.K. fan), City Folk where Brewster has taken a picture with Blathers, lastly New Leaf…the moment he opened up his standalone cafe.
2. Vine & Plant Features
We all noticed that when Kapp’n takes you to another island that they look extremely different to the islands that the dodo airline takes you to. Islands like these can be a different season or time of day, but they also have plants that are exclusive to that specific place. Such as vines and flowers.
The vines can be picked up, just like you can do with weeds and flowers, but another neat feature is that they can be a substitute for ladders. Yep! You can climb up those bad boys and get to another cliff without the need for your ladder.
Another amazing feature is that there are now some flowers that glow in the dark. If you’ve been a fan of Disney or Studio Ghibli films, now’s the chance to have glowing golden flowers all over your island.
3. New Drink Items
These can either be drink items that can be bought from Nook’s Cranny, A special item bought from the Happy Home Vacation Centre (DLC) or an item we can ‘cook’ or craft ourselves. There are new drinks available in the game, which do look very similar to a tasty mocktail you’d get on a vacation. These will go wonderfully with the Cinnamonroll parasol and tables across the beach.
4. Bubble Blowing Machines
Finally, we can experience the life of the party with bubble blowing machines. These will be a great addition to fashion shows, arcade homes, the town hall on event nights or if you want, have an island filled with nothing but bubbles.
5. Wardell is Wendell’s Son?
This could very well be true, but for some reason I doubt it a little. I think Wardell is Wendell’s nephew and here’s the reason why. You have Daisy Mae – Joan’s granddaughter, Celeste – Blather’s Sister, C.J. – Supposedly Chip’s son, Flick – Supposedly Nat’s son as well. However, there is one thing they all have in common. The same profession. Whereas Wardell, does not have the same profession as an Artist that Wendell does. His son could very well choose his own path, but considering the pattern, it isn’t likely.
He could also be a different breed for the walrus’s, an example would be K.K. Slider being a labrador and Isabelle being a Shih Tzu.
Overall – Animal Crossing New Horizons
Overall, many of us had the impression that there would be small updates and Brewster’s Cafe – The Roost being the biggest feature, not necessarily an update as gob-smacking as this. As mentioned, the players’ engagement in Animal Crossing New Horizons dropped significantly and some with month-long intervals, but after the update announcement, everyone has been jumping head first, back into their islands, not to mention the ACNH discord has become lively as well.
