The showcase will give us a “look into the future of PS5″…
Sony has just announced a PlayStation showcase for Thursday, September 9th, airing at 9PM BST.
In a Twitter post, Sony stated that the showcase will offer a “look into the future of PS5”.
With a run time of around 40 minutes, Sony promises in a blog post that we’ll get a look at “updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers, for games releasing this holiday and beyond”.
It also encourages viewers to “stick around after the presentation to get more updates from some of the studio teams featured in the Showcase”.

Sony has clarified that “PlayStation’s next generation of VR won’t make an appearance this time” but adds that “there will still be plenty of great PS5 games from developers large and small” featured at the event.
Sony didn’t offer any specific details on what will be shown during the PlayStation Showcase, but it seems like we’ll get an update on Horizon Forbidden West and Sony’s next God of War game, at the very least; with both titles being slated for release in 2022. Ahead of the previous State of Play events, Sony had made a specific note to mention that these games weren’t to be showcased — and there’s no such language in Thursday’s announcement.
The PlayStation Showcase 2021 will be broadcast on YouTube and Twitch.
