You have to play this, no butter or scones. Hold on a minute…I need to calm down…
Square Enix has released a demo for Neo: The World Ends With You. an action- roleplaying game that has carried through from my childhood. It follows the story of the main protagonist Rindo Kanade, who fights for survival in modern-day Shibuya Japan. In order to survive, he must play the ‘Reaper’s Game’. He is partnered with his friend Tosai Furesawa to play this game, but will their life be the only thing they pull out of the deathly covers of Shibuya?
Neo: The World Ends With You is a sequel of the original DS game released in 2007 ‘The World Ends With You ‘ also known as TWEWY. Since then a Nintendo Switch version called The World Ends With You: Final Remix has some extra content that links to the upcoming release. They have also released a Mobile Game called Solo Remix.
For the original game, all I can say is that the story was well thought out, the characters all have their unique developments, personality and pace of change. Despite the humour, they seem more human and very relatable due to the trial and errors they go through. The World Ends WIth You is unpredictable, it doesn’t play by the rules, which you’ll find is the same with most of the players you will encounter in the game.

It’s like a breath of fresh air to be able to play a demo of Neo: The World Ends With You, the demo has more than 2 hours and 45 minutes worth of gameplay on average and if you’re extremely adventurous and want to explore Shibuya, you’ll get the most out of it and gain at least a little over 3 hours, if not more. The combat system is a lot better than the Switch port of ‘Final Remix’ as many had a problem with motion controls being the only option to move your characters around when in docked mode. However, in this upcoming release, they are now able to move around with the analogue stick and fight by pressing buttons as opposed to touch screen in handheld mode for the previous games.
If you have an interest in playing the original, why not try the Switch version? Or if you want to go for something a little cheaper, try the mobile game. Square Enix can take all my money and if you’re up for a challenge filled with a great storyline, characters and combat. I recommend it, I have very high hopes for Neo: The World Ends With You.
