Bandai Namco just announced the release of “gundam Evolution”, an upcoming free to play shooter based on the Legendary anime franchise “Mobile suit Gundam”. The game will launch for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC later this year, with the PC version being hosted on steam

Now I am a *huge* mecha nut, but I have only actually ever watched one season of Gundam (Iron blooded orphans, sor those curious). I just dont really vibe personally with the real robot aesthetic, gravitating more towards super robots like Grendizer, Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, Voltes V, GaoGaiGar and Gurren Lagann but even then I am insanely hyped for this game.

The game will be a free to play, 6v6 PVP First person shooter, with players able to choose between 12 playable units at launch, Including the Iconic RX-78-2 and Zaku 2 From the original Mobile Suit Gundam, Gundam Barbatos from “Iron Blooded Orphans”, and the Sazabi from “Char’s CounterAttack”. The representation does seem to be very weighted towards Mecha from the “universal Century” timeline, with very little from other settings being show in the trailer, although we do get a glimpse at the Turn A gundam from… Turn A Gundam, and obviously the afore mentioned barbatos. While I think an appearance from something G gundam is reasonable to assume, such as the God Gundam… Bandai, please, add my boy Tequila gundam to the game, I beg you. Alongside this there are a couple of other odd exclusions, such as the Gundam Unicorn.

The game will feature 3 modes: “point capture”, “Domination” and “destruction”, as well as 2 currencies, called EVO Coin and Capital Points. EVO coins are apparently able to be used for “real world purchases” whatever that means? This might be grabeled translation for your standard microtransaction premium currency (most likely) OR this could be a currency you accrue playing the game that you can use to buy Gundam Merchandise in the real world, Such as model kits (this is almost certainly not the case but man I hope it is, daddy needs a new Nobel Gundam Kit). meanwhile the Capital points are used to unlock new Mobile Suits and Cosmetic items.

The game is set to launch into closed network PC beta test on april 7 though to April 12. You can register for the Beta March 9-28, with additional betas for other platforms set to come later.

The Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour event saw a number of announcements among the competitive gaming sections of the internet. The livestream coincided with Bandai Namco’s announcement of pre-orders being available for an Android 21 figurine, the antagonist who debuted in Dragon Ball FighterZ (psst! Which we happen to have).

In addition, S.H Figurearts have also announced an Android 21 figure recently, which will be sold widespread in October. I’m no Figurine Collector Expert Man (though I sincerely wish that was my code name in a Metal Gear Solid game), but hopefully this is good news for those of you who are.

PLOT TWIST ALERT! You thought this would end with related news about the figurine announcement, BUT IT WAS ME, deciding to tack on a mini roast to the rest of this paragraph! Turns out this was a stealth blog roast all along!

What, when, where, why and who am I roasting this fine morning… I won’t name and shame the actual blog author, but let’s just say ‘A Certain Forbes Blog Posted February 21st’! Easier to maintain my brand as a likable plucky underdog speaking strewth to power if I’m not punching down on fellow content writers trying to get by.

Needless to say: I found out about this upcoming Android 21 figure via Forbes article and it claimed the iconic baddie would be coming to FighterZ as a DLC character on February 24th… Now, if this was a video essay, this would be the part where I would break down the door and use clever editing to film a conversation between Myself and Myself Wearing a Fake Mustache and Monocle! Then I’d be like “aha! You haven’t played the game or even done a picosecond of googling because turns out Android 21 always has been a playable character this whole time! Checkmate! Parry this, you filthy casual”!

And that’s that! I found this little period of perceived fact-checking superiority quite the titillating experience while it lasted. Then I went back to my small-time Hashtag Quirky Bloggy Funtimes, Forbes went back to being a substantially more successful business and we all lived happily ever after!

Publisher’s Bandai Namco has revealed it’s plans to develop its own “IP Metaverse” to help their fans interact, improve and create communities with each other. Namco Bandai has shared details on their blueprints of their mid-term plans (April 2022 to March 2025) during their meeting with the shareholders on Tuesday, and explained that the plan’s core aim will be what it calls its ‘IP Axis Strategy’.

This strategy consist of three main goals – using the IP Axis Strategy to connect with the fans through its IP, enhancing IP value and making its projects span worldwide to improve sales outside of Japan. As part of this strategy, the creation of the ‘IP Metaverse’ is vital, Namco Bandai has also said that the project will cost ¥15 billion (£95 million) on implementing.

The Metaverse is currently a popular term among tech companies with Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg going the extra mile and releasing their own VR Metaverse to the public. The Metaverse is used to describe a hypothetical, online virtual world focused on social connection.

Facebook are not the only ones to actually give the Metaverse a try. Microsoft aim to incorporate the Metaverse into Mircosoft teams to add a “personal but fun” spin on meetings and social event which is similar to what Namco Bandai would like to do with their expansion into the metaverse.

Namco Bandai’s plan reads as this;

“Bandai Namco will develop a metaverse for each IP as a new framework for connecting with fans,”.

“In this IP Metaverse, we are anticipating virtual spaces that will enable customers to enjoy a wide range of entertainment on an IP axis, as well as frameworks that leverage Bandai Namco’s distinctive strengths to fuse physical products and venues with digital elements.

“We are aiming for open frameworks that provide venues for connections with and among fans and business partners. Through the IP Metaverse, we will establish communities amo

ng Bandai Namco and fans, as well as among fans themselves.

“Through these communities and content, we will build deep, broad, mul

tifaceted connections that continue for long periods of time, and we will focus on the quality of those connections. In this way, we will work to maximize IP value over the medium to long term.”

As the plan states, the ¥15 billion (£95 million) investment into the metaverse will go towards establishing the “data foundation” (data universe) and creating content for the IP Metaverse itself.

The plan ends with a reiteration that “realizing the metaverse concept” is one of Bandai Namco’s main strategies over the next three years.

Bandai Namco revealed today that the game with a perplexingly punctuated  title coming to the Nintendo Switch.

.hack/G.U. Last Recode is a remastered trilogy of the original JRPGs. There will also be an extra fourth chapter called “Reconnection”. This will serve as an epilogue for the game. Rebirth, Reminisce, and Redemption are the other three chapters, all of which are set in an in-world MMORPG where if you die in the game, you might fall into a coma in real life.

What is .hack/G.U.?

The franchise already has a remastered edition available on PS4 and PC which has received some mixed reviews. The .hack/G.U. Last Recode release on PS4/Switch was a good attempt to bring an older franchise into the modern era. All the enhancements added were not only necessary, but also welcomed. It can be said there are some  design flaws from its age, but that can be said about any modern recreation of an old game.

In .hack/G.U., the battle system has always been real-time rather than turn-based. When the player faces monsters in G.U., an arena opens in which the characters can attack and dodge their opponents. Players usually have the option of bringing two other NPCs into battle with them. There are a variety of healers, tanks, and mages to pick from, creating a diverse roster to mix up gameplay.

The remastered version on Switch is intended to commemorate the .hack franchise’s 20th anniversary, with the first .hack game, Infection, being released on the PS2 in Japan on June 20th, 2002.

The Switch version of .hack/G.U. Last Recode will be released in Japan and South-East Asia on March 10th, 2022, and March 11th for North America and Europe.

A collector’s edition has also been confirmed.

Developer, From Software, and publisher, Bandai Namco, have just given us our most detailed look at their upcoming title to date via a 19-minute gameplay preview. The video offers “a brief introduction to Elden Ring’s fundamentals” and aims to convey some of the title’s mood and gameplay.

The footage shown below is from a PC character build which is still in development.

Following an earlier leak, the Elden Ring collector’s editions and pre-order bonuses have also been officially revealed.

The Elden Ring release date was recently delayed by one month to February 25, 2022. Bandai Namco claimed, “the depth and strategic freedom of the game exceeded initial expectations”.

A closed network test for Elden Ring is set to take place next week on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

“Selected fans will be able to experience the opening hours of the long-awaited title to get a hands-on glimpse at what the full game will have to offer while assisting the development team in testing the game’s online servers ahead of its release date,” according to Bandai Namco.

Elden Ring takes place in a world called the Lands Between, which was created in collaboration with Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin, who created the game’s lore. This title looks like it will be a game-changer for any From Software fans out there or anyone new looking to dive headfirst into the experience and challenge this game will pose.

In other news, October and the beginning of November have seen some big next-gen titles being released, including the likes of Call of Duty: Vanguard (released today, November 5th), FIFA 22, Far Cry 6, and Left 4 Dead’s spiritual successor, Back 4 Blood. The post Elden Ring Gameplay Preview Released first appeared on Get2Gaming.

The new “Legendary Pack 2” downloadable DLC for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will be released on November 5, with a free update on November 4th, according to publisher Bandai Namco and developer Dimps.

Legendary Pack 2 will bring Caulifla, Kale, Jiren, and Gogeta to the game on November 5, 2021. Not only that, but more is yet to come. Bandai Namco confirmed the next add-ons will arrive in 2022.

We already knew that some of those characters will appear. Jiren (Full Power) was initially hinted in June 2021. Bandai Namco stated Gogeta (Dragon Ball Super) would also appear in August 2021. Caulifla (Super Saiyan 2) first appeared in October 2021. Kale (Super Saiyan 2), on the other hand, was a surprise held for the release date announcement video.

As you can see in the trailer above,  other paid additions, in addition to the new characters, appear. A new Mission ‘The One and Only Saiyan’ is teased. The Volcanic Wasteland is also an extra level added. There will be four parallel quests, ten skills, costumes, and more Loading Screen Illustrations. The free update items, which include costumes, Raid Quests, figures, Super Souls, and Dual Ultimate Attacks, appeared around the 3:30 mark. Finally, at 4:40, the 2022 add-on is shown.

Kazuya Mishima joins the fight…

Kazuya Mishima was revealed as the penultimate DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at E3 2021. His introduction means we will see one of the most iconic characters in fighting game history joining Nintendo’s industry-uniting franchise. Considering how impactful and influential Tekken has been since its first introduction to arcades in 1994, there is no doubt that Kazuya is worthy of taking that second to the last spot on the Smash roster.

The reveal trailers inclusion of the Tekken series famous Volcano scene was definitely a nice touch by Nintendo.

The reveal trailer was everything I had hoped it would be. I personally loved the end detail of Kazuya dropping Kirby off the volcano, just for him to fly back up in classic Kirby fashion.

Admittedly, although a lot of smash fans were happy with the announcement, there were some who disapproved. These fans wanted characters such as Halo’s Master Chief, for example. However, considering everything Tekken has done to figurehead the fighting game scene, it is only right that a Tekken character has a spot on the roster; and no Tekken character is more deserving than Kazuya Mishima.

With every iconic character added to the Smash roster, it is important for an equally iconic victory scene to accompany them. Although there have been some questionable ones over the years, there have also been some great ones. Masahiro Sakurai often loves to reference classic moments from the characters original games in their victory scenes. An example of this is Sephiroth’s victory scene referencing Final Fantasy 7 (see below).

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans worldwide understand this need for good victory screens, especially for DLC characters with historical importance, like the above two. The victory scene makes that hard-fought win taste even sweeter.

One fan (AngelDemon24, Reddit) has thought of what fans believe to be the perfect scene for Kazuya, in line with Sakurai’s attention to detail regarding classic references. It is based on Kazuya’s ending in the original Tekken game.

There are definitely several iconic Kazuya scenes to choose from. Regardless, I am more than excited to see one of the fighting game genre’s poster boys joining the Super Smash roster.

Tekken x Street Fighter is no longer in development, Tekken’s Katsuhito Harada reports.

Tekken X Street Fighter was announced by Bandai Namco at the 2010 San Diego Comic-con, alongside Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken. Street Fighter X Tekken was released 2 years later, in 2012. However, 11 years later, we still haven’t received Tekken X Street Fighter.

Street Fighter X Tekken was made by Capcom (as opposed to Bandai Namco). The core game mechanics were based on the 2D gameplay of Street Fighter, with the game including projectile-based moves such as the iconic Hadouken, dissimilar to that of the Tekken series.

Namco was set to release their own version of the series, which would follow their 3D gameplay style. Tekken X Street Fighter, however, had its development paused in 2016. As a result, we had heard little regarding any new developments on the game until recently, when Harada confirmed that development had been completely abandoned.

Bandai Namco consistently assured us that the game was still coming over the years. Unfortunately, however, that day will not come any time soon.

This is tough news to take for any hardcore fighting game fans who had waited these long 11 years to see some of your favourite franchise characters clash in a Tekken format.

Harada had previously said that they had developed about 30 percent of the game. He pointed out that from a motion standpoint, much of what they worked on was on display with the iconic Street Fighter character Akuma’s introduction into Tekken 7’s Roster.

Separate to character motions, Harada explained that they had a desire to show the character models they developed to all of us, but they would need co-operation by Capcom to do so.

In a VGC interview in 2019, Harada noted that with the continual success of Tekken 7 and its DLC, Tekken X Street Fighter was becoming harder and harder to justify. He notes that typically a fighting game has a 1-2-year lifespan, but the perpetual success of Tekken 7 (due to the DLC content) made investing in another fighting game irrational. Tekken 7, the most recent instalment in the Tekken series has accumulated over seven million players. Therefore, Tekken X Street Fighter has simply fizzled out.

Maybe one-day development will continue. Until then, we will simply have to remain patient and hopeful.

Bandai Namco release Pixels Defense, a game based on the upcoming action comedy film

I think we’d all be right in saying that it’d be pretty silly NOT to release a game based on a film about video games, right?! Well Bandai Namco have done just that. They have created an iOS and Android game dubbed “Pixels Defense”. This is undoubtedly going to be the best game of the summer, and the ONLY film related game of the summer it seems.

Pixels Defense is a free-to-play (woohoo!) tower defense mobile game, which lets you team up with the film’s heroes (Adam Sandler, Peter Dinklage, and Josh Gad). Players will be able to face-off with classic video game characters such as Frogger, Pac-Man, Q*bert, Galaga, Centipede, Tetris, Dig Dug and much more.

The player will also get to command the heroic “Arcaders”, where they will strategically set up the team to defeat hoard after hoard of enemies, before they can pixelate the cities of the world.

You can acquire the game by heading over to the Amazon App Store or Google Play. It’s a summer game that you won’t want to miss!
