Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick discusses the troubles of including real life brands into the ever expanding world of GTA online

Brand Collaborations are all the range in the video game world these days, with the likes of Fortnite, Fall Guys and the assortment of sports games such as FIFA and NBA 2K all jumping on the brand integration train with success so it’s surprise that probably the biggest video game of the past decade Grand Theft Auto V that doesn’t wasn’t to go with the wave of other games. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has suggested that players shouldn’t expect to see any brand inclusion anytime soon.

The world of GTA is a fictional world, so to bring real-life brands in, they really have to be iconic and they have to fit within that world, Zelnick says.

It’s very much a creative decision driven by the team at Rockstar. It’s not a financial decision.

Zelnick said NBA and PGA (games that are under the Take-Two umbrella) lend themselves to big clothing brands while GTA Online is a fictional world and to add real life brands to that they have to be iconic and fit within that world. The GTA Series and the online section of the game has always been known for parodying brands and pop culture moments so to add real life brands would look out of place in the vibrant land of Los Santos.

The real question is, does GTA need to include real life brands into their ever changing world? the answer is…no, as of time of writing GTA has made over $6 billion. An obscene number that companies around the world couldn’t even imagine let alone from one singular game that came out in 2013. GTA 5‘s wider success is largely down to GTA Online, making $800 million on shark cards alone, the player base can buy in-game currency with these shark cards to buy property, clothes and cars in the world. In it’s latest full-year earnings report Take-Two claimed that GTA 5 has shipped over 165 million copies of the game since it’s release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, lasting through 3 generations of consoles including Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

The GTA train keeps on rolling with the GTA Trilogy: the Definitive Edition was released last November with remastered versions of industry changing titles of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas but it came with largely negative reviews because of the poor state the game was released with many glitches some of them crashing the game. But the shining light is with improvements and many patches being introduced over the last couple of months the game has been an enjoyable experience for many and the Trilogy capitalises on the one thing that gamers love, nostalgia!

Oh, Rockstar. Honey. Baby. My darling GTA holes. Corporate Uncritical Networking Teams of epic proportions! We NEED to talk… Just, in general, like, wanna get a pint after reading? Your treat, of course.

To briefly summarize before we get to the news: Rockstar has been making so much money from GTA 5 and GTA Online that they’re basically the Disney of gaming companies, in that they don’t really have to try too hard to make stuff anymore because that Scrooge McDuckian money pool isn’t exactly going anywhere! After 8 years of expansions to GTA 5 Online (psst, which we have!) we now get the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition.

Criticisms range from bugs and glitches to strange spelling mistakes from a corner-cutting AI of samurai proportions and- THE BURGER DOESN’T SPIN!? And I’m sorry, “the taste of a real man’s heat” sounds more like a bikram yoga joint than a hotdog place! If I wanted to taste a man’s heat, I’d glaze myself in hot sauce and become a contortionist!

GTA 6: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly: Known leaker who covers titles from Rockstar and Quantic Dreams games (AccNGT) has recently aired some concerns on Twitter regarding how ‘Some people don’t realize how chaotic the development is’, also claiming that although the visuals will be high-quality, it will be a disappointment if it were to release next year.

While Naughty Dog and Rockstar have been known to get their hands dirty with crunch time issues (which you can find out more on here), given the recent announcement of the Dr Dre expansion for GTA, I doubt even Rockstar would confirm anything for GTA 6 this soon.

AccNGT doesn’t clarify if they’re talking about the gameplay or story mode being the main things to suffer.

Other leakers have claimed that GTA 6 allegedly started production shortly after former co-founder and writer Dan Houser left Rockstar. His departure has lead to Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two to dropping in stocks, so GTA 6 may well end up being the Metal Gear Survive of the Grand Theft Auto universe if this is true.

The post ‘Disappointing’ GTA 6 Claim from Industry Insider! first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Take-Two is working on 3 unannounced remasters from their collection and we are very excited about it.

The announcement comes from an investor presentation Take-Two published this week, which lists three unannounced “new iterations of previously released titles”.

These projects are listed alongside their upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X/S remasters Grand Theft Auto V, Kerbal Space Program, and the highly-anticipated stand-alone version of Grand Theft Auto Online. 

Unannounced Remasters

Take-Two have openly discussed the possibility and intention to create remasters of past titles before. Back in March last year, the company’s CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed this during the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference and stated that the company wouldn’t interested in releasing “simple ports”.

Remastering has always been a part of the strategy. We’ve done differently than the competition – we don’t just port titles over, we actually take the time to do the very best job we can making the title different for the new release, for the new technology that we’re launching it on. – Strauss Zelnick.

Zelnick went onto explain that Take-Two takes pride in improving the technology, upgrading the visuals, and making performance enhancements so the remasters can be experienced at the best of their ability on the new-gen consoles.

Take-Two recently released its Mafia: Trilogy Collection as a remaster for PS4 and Xbox One back in May 2020 which was really appreciated by its fans from their reviews on Metacritic, so fans of Take-Two can expect their trip to the past to be extremely nostalgic and rewarding to play all these years later.

Does this mean there will be more GTA remasters in the works? Well, during Take-Two’s third-quarter earnings back in February, Zelnick was asked the same thing and gave a non-committal response by saying he was inclined to leave it as a statement and let the schedule for any GTA remasters come from its developer Rockstar Games instead.

So, we don’t know what to expect yet, but Take-Two certainly is taking these remasters with great care and consideration.

Everything we know…

Yesterday we received the news that The Elder Scrolls 6 hasn’t left the design phase yet and could be anything up to five years away. Well, it’s not the only sequel that will be released a decade after its predecessor.

GTA V was first released in 2013. Due to the fact GTA V is receiving a next-gen remake in autumn, it is likely we will not be seeing GTA VI for a good few years also.

Everything surrounding GTA VI has been shrouded in secrecy with no real news of the project. Fans have been speculating regarding release dates, the setting for the game etc. Some fan-created rumours, which could carry some weight, have now surfaced.

A Youtuber named Tom Henderson recently gained a following due to ultimately predicting all details regarding the Battlefield 2042 reveal.

Similarly, Tom predicts the game will be set in Vice City instead of the 1980s (as anticipated by some fans). He also suggests that the multiplayer map will be dynamic (i.e., constantly changing and evolving), likening to the Fortnite map and its constantly altered regions. Despite lacking any details regarding the story plot, he also predicts that it will contain multiple characters (as did GTA V). Lastly, he envisions a 2025 release date. I think this release date is plausible considering the stance Rockstar has taken in perpetuating GTA V’s success.

Additionally, GTA VI will only be released for next-gen consoles; therefore, they wouldn’t make it available for a few years until most people can upgrade. Moreover, Rockstar will be hesitant to overexert employees after being accused of poor working conditions during crunch time for the Red Dead Redemption 2 release. All these factors suggest that the game will not arrive until at least 2025, as predicted.

Of course, these rumours are still fan-created, despite coming from a more credible fan source. All of this is speculation. He even says to take some of it with a pinch of salt. However, what has been suggested is all highly plausible.

Rockstar have revealed their latest update for GTA V, Cunning Stunts. This is the biggest racing update to the game since it was released in 2013.

The news features allow you to do loops in tubes, drive between the blades in the windfarm, launch off of ramps and even more.

Cunning Stunts will make it look like a Hot Wheels race, in Los Santos. It looks fantastic.

I am sure that if you are a GTA fan then you have properly seen all the new mods popping up recently. Some of the mods online are so amazing and GTA just looks incredible to play recently due to these new features.

Someone has now finally made a Back to The Future mod which is fully functional. This mod actually lets the player time travel, fly and is fully equipped with all the sound effects straight from the film. The man responsible for the mod is Joshua Vanderz and it includes multiple variations of the classic Delorean. Mr. Fusion and even the skid marks on fire appear once you hit 88 MPH.

It has now been nearly three whole years since Grand Theft Auto V was first released. Since the game was first released we have received a huge amount of DLC which is what keeps GTA as one of the most popular video games today.

Rockstar show no signs of stopping with introducing more and more DLC into the game with another big expansion on the way. The next update is a huge improvement on Executives and Other Criminals. Further Adventures in Finance and Felony will continue in your mission to become the ultimate criminal kingpin of Los Santos.

This update will see players use warehouses and offices to distribute their contraband across Los Santos for huge profits. This update looks set to be the most anticipated update since the Heist update last year.

Further Adventures in Finance and Felony will arrive June 7^th and will also see the introduction on a range of new vehicles including thePegassi Reaper.

There is also a potential update coming to GTA which users will be excited about. An image has been leaked of Middle Park in a GTA V engine. This could potentially see a Liberty City add-on to GTA V allowing players to fly between different islands that have previously appeared in the GTA series. Before getting anyone’s hopes up, this is only a rumour at the moment.

All of the GTA maps on one game has been something that Rockstar have previously thought about and something that GTA fans have been crying out for.

I really hope Rockstar go ahead and do this, I would love to see Liberty City return. However for now, it is just a rumour.

Everyone loves to mod, but this GTA V on the PC mod shows utter carmageddon. You have to see it to believe it!

Now there have been some pretty insane, hilarious, and utterly ridiculous modding videos getting about, but this one is just pure insanity. With just one press of a button, the seemingly harmless cars turn into missiles and aim directly at other vehicles and pedestrians, which sends them all rocketing! As you can see from the video, poor old Franklin receives a bit of a bashing, but he is only surviving this carocalypse due to the fact that god mode has been turned on. I highly doubt that you’d survive otherwise. The sky is literally raining cars!

Our resident Agent of Chaos, Bernodd Montgomery, is showing his support for Lips Appreciation Day!

For those of you who don’t already know him, this is Bernodd Montgomery and he is our very own Agent of Chaos here at Go2Games! He derives from the infamous Grand Theft Auto franchise and lives happily in Vinewood with his nice BMX. Bernodd has already given us a taster of his pouting talents in the photo above, so lets take a look at some others. All in the name of lips appreciation!

I may have failed to mention that Bernodd actually spelt his name incorrectly on purpose. It has somewhat given him a false identity so that, if this happens again in future, the police will “have the wrong man” due to incorrect name spelling… It was his theory, not mine!

The elderly take to GTA V, and have brought with them a few classic lines!

Well.. This has certainly brought comfort and joy to the new year! Elderly people playing GTA V. I don’t think you can get any better than that, can you? This video has been brought to you by the guys behind the React YouTube channel.

Watch as a few of the elderly people play Rockstar Games’ open-world hit, GTA V, for the first time. The way they play, aided by their audible reactions is just down right brilliant! The players were given 30mins of game time, with no other information than that of basic controls.

Here are a few of the classic quotes that you’ll expect to hear on this video:
