Niantic have revealed the details of the upcoming Mountains of Power Event in Pokémon GO! It signals the start of the next chapter in the Season of Heritage.

The next chapter of the Season of Heritage is set to kick off with the Mountains of Power Event. The next season will focus on Steel and Rock type Pokémon, as Spark, the Team Mystic Leader, believes they hold the key to unlocking the next gate’s mechanism. Pokémon GO Mountains of Power Event Details

The Mountains of Power event will stars on Friday, January 7th at 10am local time and finishes on Thursday, January 13th at 8pm local time. During this event, Zubat, Geodude, Slugma, Barboach, Machop, and Nosepass will spawn more frequently. Rarer Pokémon will have a higher spawn rate too, meaning Onix and Ferroseed will be easier to find. There’s also an increased shiny rate.

These aren’t the only bonuses during the event. There will also be a bonus to earning hearts with your Buddy Pokémon, meaning you will have to walk half the distance to earn them. This means you can evolve friendship Pokémon faster.

You will also be able to receive special Timed Research tasks to gain Mawile and Beldum as rewards, as well as Geodude and Slugma.

A number of Pokémon will also be featured across different Raids. Level 1 Raids will feature Alolan Geodude, Beldum, Bronzor, Onix, and their shiny forms. Medicham, Absol, Ursaring and Donphan will be featured in 3-Star Raids. The 5-Star Raid Pokémon will be Heatran – the legendary Fire/Steel type Pokemon from the Sinnoh region. Finally, Mega-Aerodactyl will make a reappearance for the Mega-Raid eggs, giving those who missed it another chance to acquire one for themselves.

The January Community Day for Pokémon Go will take place next Sunday, but there will be a follow-up Community Day the weekend after the Spheal Community Day.

On Saturday, Jan. 22, the game will hold its first “Community Day Classic.” Unlike the regular Community Day, this event will provide players with a second chance to obtain a previously featured Pokémon and event move.

Bulbasaur is the centrepiece of the first Community Day Classic. Bulbasaur will occur in the wild more frequently than usual during the event, giving you more opportunities to catch a Shiny Bulbasaur. Furthermore, any Ivysaur that evolves into a Venusaur before 7 p.m. local time will learn the rare Charged Attack Frenzy Plant.

Throughout the event, a few in-game bonuses will be available. You’ll get triple the amount of XP for catching Pokémon if you use Incense and Lure Modules, which will last for three hours.

Pokémon GO Spheal Community Event Day Info!

As mentioned before, January’s first Community Day taking place on January 16th will feature Spheal, alongside a variety of other event bonuses. The event will run between 11am and 5pm local time.

Spheal will spawn in the wild more frequently than usual, and you’ll have more chances to encounter a Shiny Spheal.

On the day of the event, if you can evolve Sealeo into Walrein, it will learn two event-exclusive moves: the Fast Attack Powder Snow and the Charged Attack Icicle Spear. You’ll have until 7 p.m. local time to evolve Sealeo and learn these attacks, which is two hours after the Community Day concludes.

A few extra in-game incentives will be active throughout January’s Community Day, in addition to increased Spheal spawns. First, when you capture Pokémon during the event, you’ll get triple the usual amount of XP. Furthermore, any Lure Modules and Incenses you employ will last three hours.

The Community Day Classic will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Additional information on the event may be found on the official Pokémon Go blog.

New content is being added to Pokémon GO on a regular basis. The Season of Heritage has added a whole bunch of bonuses and events, such as the Swinub Incense Day event and the Dragonspiral Descent Event.  Details for the Pokémon GO 2022 Johto Tour have been revealed in a blog post, and many more bonuses are coming whether you hold a ticket or not.

Due to the success of the Kanto Tour in Pokémon GO, Niantic has revealed that another GO Tour will be released in February, this time focusing on the Johto region. To participate, Pokémon GO enthusiasts must purchase GO Johto Tour tickets. Fans will be able to choose between two versions of the event, one concentrating on Pokémon Gold and the other on Pokémon Silver, just like in the previous Pokémon GO Tour.

Pokémon GO Tour Johto 2022 Event Details

The global event will be live on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 9:00am until 9:00 pm local time. Players can purchase a ticket for the special ticketed experience in addition to the free experience.

Ticket-holders will be able to attend an in-person event on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at a few select places. Trainers will take the next step in their journey with the appearance of Pokémon from the Kanto area, as a nod to the end of the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver games.

It’s important to bear in mind that there are two versions of the ticket available, and you won’t be able to switch which version you have later on.

Regardless of version selection, all ticket holders will be able to experience  certain features during the Pokémon GO Tour: Johto. A full list of all the features available during the Johto Tour experience can be found in Niantic’s blog post about the details of the event.

The “Dragonspiral Descent” event, which introduces a new Pokémon from the Unova region, will be one of the first mini-events of the Season of Heritage in Pokémon GO. The Dragon-type Pokémon Druddigon, as well as its shiny variation, will make its introduction to Pokémon GO.

Dragonspiral Descent Introduces Druddigon to Pokémon GO!

Professor Willow uncovered a curious ancient gate on one of his travels in Pokémon GO as part of the ongoing plot. Thanks to the  trainers’ efforts on Swinub Incense Day, that gate has now been opened. The Dragonspiral Decent is a reference to the Dragonspiral Tower from the Pokémon Black/White games, which is home to either Reshiram or Zekrom.

During the event, these two Pokémon, as well as their shiny variations, can be found in Pokémon GO’s Five-Star Raids. The ancient gate’s opening has resulted in an influx of Fire, Electric, and Ice encounters in the game. Druddigon can be obtained by completing the Field Research Tasks linked with it. You can also catch Druddigon through 3-Star Raids.

Other Pokémon Available

The Dragonspiral Decent event will begin at 10 a.m. local time on December 7th and end at 8 p.m. local time on December 11th. Seel, Vulpix, Sneasel, Dratini, Mareep, Bltizle, Trapinch, Deino, and Fire-type Darumaka are among the other Pokémon that will appear in greater numbers during the event.

In addition, Dragonair and Vibrava will arrive in greater quantities. Players who catch all of the requisite Pokémon will receive 1000 XP and 3000 Stardust as part of an event-themed Collection Challenge. During this event, the Mega Evolution of Steelix will also be available.

Druddigon is a Dragon-type Pokémon, as its name suggests.  Rather than releasing them all at once, like they did for the first two regions, they are now being released in stages. Dedenne was just released in the Season of Mischief, and this technique turns it into an event with a long wait time. The Unova dex in Pokémon GO still has some gaps to complete, but it is gradually filling in.

Although there is a huge list of Pokémon with higher spawn rates for this event, there are no sources stating that the chances of finding shinies has increased. Players will have to either hope for higher odds to match the higher spawn rates, or resort to utilising incense to attract larger numbers of Pokémon. At this time, the Field Research assignments that will award Druddigon are likewise unknown.

Niantic have recently revealed the Breakthrough Reward for completing field events in Pokémon Go throughout the month of December. Field events are one of the best ways to grind and gain xp in the game. They are acquired mostly through spinning PokéStops, which provide players with objectives to perform in exchange for various rewards.

Each day that a Pokémon GO user completes a Field Research activity earns them a stamp, which leads to a Field Research breakthrough when they have collected seven of them.

The rewards for the breakthroughs tend to change each month, with a different Pokémon being on offer as a reward. This rotation will change as of 9pm GMT / 1pm PT on December 1^st and will last until January 1^st 2022, 9pm GMT / 1pm PT.

Pokémon GO’s December Field Research Breakthrough Reward

Currently available as a Field Research Breakthrough reward is Deino, a Dragon/Dark type Pokémon from the Unova region.

Deino is a strong Pokémon and definitely worth adding to your collection, as it has a good move set for gym battles and PVP. It costs 25 Candy to evolve into Zweilous, and then a further 100 Candy to evolve into Hydreigon.

Other Events to Look Forward to This Month!

There’s a lot more to look forward to in December for Pokémon GO fans as there’s a whole bunch of events going on this month and throughout the start of next year. On December 1st, Pokémon GO will launch its Season of Heritage event,  which will provide players with many seasonal bonuses and extra challenges. The first event will be a special Swinub Incense Day on December 5th.

There will be a Dragonspiral Descent event,  which will feature Unova’s Dragonspire Tower and runs between December 7th and December 12th. Those are the only details revealed about the event at the time of writing. On top of that is a special Pokémon GO Community Day happening.

The final Community Day event will be held on both  December 18th, and  December 19th. During the event, Pokémon that appeared throughout 2021’s Community Day events will be appear more frequently in the wild. Additionally, Pokémon featured in 2020’s Community Day events will hatch from Eggs and appear in raids. December Community Day will be a great chance for anybody catch something they might have missed.

To end the year, The Pokémon GO Holidays event will return on December 16th, and runs until December 31st. It will feature costumed Pokémon, Ice-type Pokémon appearing more frequently in the wild, event-exclusive Field Research, winter-themed avatar items, and many other bonuses.

In Pokémon GO, the Season of Heritage event has begun. The Season of Heritage is a special timed event that will last until March 21st 2022 to as preparation for the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Pokémon GO’s Swinub Incense Day Event

A special Incense Day is being hosted to commemorate the event’s start which will feature Swinub among a whole bunch of other Ice and Ground-type Pokémon. Swinub will appear at a special Incense Day event which will be on the first Sunday of the month. Blanche and Professor Willow are asking Trainers to catch lots of Ice and Ground Pokémon. They also urge you to collect a lot of Stardust, as part of the new season.

Aside from the possibility of obtaining  Swinub in Pokémon GO, players will also have the chance to capture a shiny version.

During the event, if a player evolves Swinub into Pilowswine and subsequently into Mamoswine, that Mamoswine will know the Charged Attack Ancient Power. Ancient Power hits for 45 power in trainer battles and has a chance to boost the user’s attack and defence. Ancient Power deals 70 damage in gyms and raids.

Other Features of the Incense Day Event

• • The in-game store will have a 1 PokeCoin bundle with two Incense
  • There will be Event-specific Field Research tasks available
  • Ice-type Pokémon will be attracted to Incense from 11am to 12pm, 1pm to 2pm, and 3pm to 4pm
  • Ground-type Pokémon will be attracted to Incense from 12pm to 1pm, 2pm to 3pm, and 4pm to 5pm

The British songwriter has joined forces with Niantic to serenade Pokémon GO fans

If you’re a fan of Ed Sheeran and hunting for Pokémon in the wild then you’re in luck! It was announced yesterday that the Grammy-award winner is receiving his own collaboration event on Pokémon GO and now Niantic has released details of what fans can expect.

The event will be running from 7 PM BST on November 22 to 9 PM BST on November 30.

Pokémon GO x Ed Sheeran

The Ed Sheeran Collaboration Event will be offering a special musical performance from the hit song maker that features songs from his latest album “=” as well as some classics from previous albums. Players will be able to access the performance through the in-game News from when the event begins on November 22.

The setlist includes:

• “Perfect”
• “Bad Habits”
• “Overpass Graffiti”
• “Thinking Out Loud”
• “First Times”
• “Shivers”

There will also be a rendition of “Overpass Graffiti” played every night as in-game music!

The Pokémon GO x Ed Sheeran collab will also feature an event for all of the Water-type first-partner Pokémon currently available in Pokémon GO as Ed mentioned he always goes for a Water-type starter Pokémon when playing any Pokémon games! This also means that Totodile, Mudkip, Piplup, and Oshawott will all be appearing in the wild a lot more frequently in the next week! You might even run into a Froakie or a Squirtle wearing sunglasses if you’re really lucky!

Take a snapshot every day for an extra bonus and when you complete Field Research tasks, you will have more of a chance to encounter the Squirtle wearing sunglasses Pokémon!

The collaboration event will also offer a new Avatar item (a “=” hoodie), Water-type Pokémon stickers and a one-time free event box that includes: A Lure Module, 20 Pokéballs, 10 Razz Berries, and 10 Pinap Berries.

We have just had confirmed that Pokemon Go is collaborating with the global superstar Ed Sheeran in the next few months.

I think the majority of us wouldn’t have quite predicted that Pokemon Go’s next collaboration would be with none other than Ed Sheeran, but here we are.

The Ed Sheeran HQ Twitter account revealed the upcoming crossover. The game’s official account subsequently retweeted it with an eyes emoji, confirming the collaboration.

No other details about this have been revealed, so it’s unclear how Ed Sheeran will be in Pokémon Go. The most straightforward guess would be that he wrote some music for the game. Who knows? In any case, Ed is coming. He’s collaborated on other projects such as Game of Thrones and Rise of Skywalker, but those were acting roles, unlike Pokémon Go.

The last update involving Pokémon Go was in September when Niantic announced new Safari Live Event in-person dates. They were initially supposed to be held back in 2020, but they were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pokémon Go was also in the news because Niantic had planned to reduce the interaction radius of PokeStops and Gyms related to the pandemic.

However, following an outcry from fans, Niantic decided to walk that back and keep the interaction radius at 80 meters instead of 40.

In other news, October and the beginning of November have seen some big next-gen titles being released, including the likes of Call of Duty: Vanguard, FIFA 22, Far Cry 6, and Left 4 Dead’s spiritual successor, Back 4 Blood. Niantic has cast the avada kedavra spell and will be shutting down its Harry Potter app for good.

After a long and successful run, Niantic and Warner Bros Entertainment are saying goodbye to their collaboration project Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

The AR game that saw the Wizarding World come to life will be removed from apps by the end of this year and the servers will shut down completely by next year. Fear not though, there’s still plenty of upcoming events players can enjoy before the killing curse hits.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite

The AR game launched back in 2019 and was created after the success of Pokémon GO and is situated in the muggle world (our world) where witches and wizards (the players) must come together to solve “The Calamity”, overcome the confounding chaotic magic that surrounds the “Foundables,” and return them to their rightful place, keeping them safe from Muggle eyes.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite received regular updates and fixtures since its initial release and maintained a decently-sized community online. The development team confirmed the game was downloaded by millions of fans around the world, unlike other games Niantic has had to shut down in the past, like their Catan mobile AR game, which was shut down still in its beta testing phase.

A reason for this decision was not provided, however, it is speculated whether the release of Hogwarts Legacy in 2022- an open-world, action role-playing video game set in the late 1800s.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be removed from the App Store, Google Play and Galaxy Store on December 6 and players will be unable to make in-app purchases. The game will shut down fully on January 31, 2022.

However, there’s still time to take part in events during the months of November and December, including the Half-Blood Prince Brilliant Event Part 1 this month and the Voldemort Lethal Adversaries Event next month.

In what is more hopeful news for Niantic, the company have just released another AR game situated in the world of Pikmin titled Pikmin Bloom, which was recently made available in the UK, and is making a series of apps together with Nintendo.

The hit mobile game Pokemon Go will be seeing special events where players can catch Dedenne!

The Festival of Lights event will kick off this November 5th and the With Light Comes Shadow event will drop November 9th. Alongside Dedenne, the electric fairy pokemon, we’ll also be seeing other Shiny pokemon and bonuses for players, so hop back on the poke-bandwagon while it’s still hot… Or, debatably lukewarm, but hey, free stuff for the masses, I can dig it.

The game’s developer Niantic stated the Lights festival will be running from the 5th to the 14th, featuring a fireworks display to celebrate the game’s launch. The end date of the Shadow event is currently unknown. For a full breakdown on the various available pokemon dropping on the events as well as raid-specific rewards and more, check the official Pokemon Go info page’s breakdown here. There’s also statements that Team Go Rocket will be  “appearing significantly more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons”, but I’m a casually puritanical Jessie and James simp, so your mileage may vary. Though I’m getting ahead of myself, playing Pokemon Go for the story is like ordering a salad at McDonald’s, and in the immortal words of nerd workout legend JaxBlade, “going to McDonald’s for a salad is like going to a hooker for a hug”.

Some of the event reward highlights include:

• Double the friendship gains, which is almost as good as doubling the friendship GAINZ!
• Gift bonus rewards all around, sharing is caring!
• Open up to 45 gifts per day.
• Wild encounters include shiny powered-up versions of Pikachu, Electrike, Ploptop, Litwick, Blitzle and more… Comment away if you can guess which of those I just made up!

Niantic. Sweetie. Baby. Honey boo boo. We NEED to talk about branding! Going back to the McDonald’s salad analogy, I’m not saying Pokemon should have a Darwinian level of scientific accuracy behind the mechanics of a video game world built on high-stakes cock fights with super-powered pets, but at least show a little teeny tiny bitesized modicum of self-awareness here! What kind of Colombian Marching Powder were the CEOs on that made them think this decision made sense? Does “flying” mean something different in the Pokemon universe? Are you implying Flying pokemon that can’t learn flight actually refers to a pokemon’s ability to wear tight jeans with the zip left down? DETAILS MAN! They are important!
