Now THAT’S what I call a pro-gamer move! The good folks at Riot Games have promised to donate all proceeds from battle pass purchases to Ukraine! That means all the battle passes from League of Legends: Wild Rift, Valorant, Teamfight Tactics and whatever my MOBA-virgin brain can interpret Legends of Runeterra as falling into! The donation period of battle passes will include those between March 5th to 12th. Proceeds from the League of Legends ‘Bee skin’ line will also be donated at this time.

Riot has also donated one million USD between three non-profits: International Medical Corps, The Polish Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières, which sounds like a plotline from Metal Gear Solid and translates to ‘Doctors Without Borders’.

“The war in Ukraine has caused an expanding humanitarian crisis […] Since it began, we’ve heard from players around the world that they want to help—and so do we… All proceeds from both Riot’s donation and the player fundraiser will directly support humanitarian relief in Ukraine and other affected areas.” – Riot Games in public statement.

Have you ever felt disgruntled after working really hard on something, only for someone to copy you and try to get the same credit? Well that’s precisely how Riot Games are feeling right now. The studio are supposedly suing a Vietnamese game studio after arguing it has created a “knock-off” of Teamfight Tactics. Let the gaming controversy ensue!

According to reports, the game developer have filed the lawsuit against Imba Network for creating the auto battler I am Hero: AFK Tactical Teamfight. What grounds do they have do this though? It seems the game has copied character likeness, background stories as well as ‘copy and pasting character lore’. They’re going to struggle escaping this one it seems.

The lawsuit was filed in California, and asks the court to restrict Imba Network from selling its game and thereby infringing on the League of Legends copyright. Teamfight Tactics is inspired by the Dota 2 autochess mod, but uses its own hugely popular MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game League Of Legends as the setting.

Additionally, Riot Games are also looking to seek £110,991 for every sign of copyright infringement. Obviously, that isn’t something you want to be seeing after you make a game, but then again, don’t steal I suppose? Moreover, a cease-and-desist letter has also been field with Imba. It details how the Vietnamese company took “extensive but non-exhaustive side-by-side chart of copied characters and game play elements”.

After all this, Imba continue to deny the accusations. When we have further developments on the lawsuit, we will let you know. In the meantime, check out what Riot Games have planned for the future. Before you go though, check out this image below which shows the similarities in the two games.

Riot games, best known for League of Legends, has finally shared more information on its upcoming, currently untitled 2d fighting game, internally being referred to as Project L. As well as the release of a band new, over 6 minutes trailer for the game, Project leads Tom and Tony Cannon spoke more about the fighting game set in the league of Legends Fighting game.

Project L was announced all the back in august of 2019, but aside from it being a fighting game developed by riot we knew basically nothing about it. A later livestream confirmed it was set in the league of Legends universe, but for over 2 years now that was it.

As part of a blog Post, Tom Cannon explained “Our initial reveal back in 2019 showed a potential direction that we could take the game. But Project L is in R&D: the phase of game development where we’re exploring options and finding the fun. Today, our explorations have borne fruit, and we’ve landed in a spot that we’re all pretty excited about! So now felt like a great moment to bring you up to speed, especially with all the Undercity Night’s festivities happening across Riot.”

Tom added later on “We’re excited to share that Project L will be a tag-team style fighting game, where you’ll build and pilot a team of two different champions. In this preview, you’ll see we’ve updated the game’s art style and included a breakdown of a champion’s kit. You’ll catch a glimpse of how we’re approaching controls with an easy-to-learn but hard-to-master mentality.”

“We also talk a little about one of our top priorities for the game: to build the absolute best in netcode that you can get in a fighter. Of course we’re starting with rollback as a foundation, and we’re adding in existing tech from Riot like RiotDirect, which does a great job at minimizing ping for League of Legends and VALORANT.”

Unfortunately, we are likely not going to see Project L until at least 2023.

“Our goal is to build a super high-quality fighting game that the FGC can invest deeply in, playing for years or even decades. That takes time to get right, and we’re not going to rush it.”

Riot Games has announced more events to celebrate the release of Arcane

If you didn’t have an eventful weekend like I did, then maybe you decided to check out the new Netflix show that I have been constantly posting about since its first announcement. No? Well, you should.

Arcane has finally debuted its first 3 episodes on Netflix, leaving plenty of suspense and anticipation for the next episodes to drop and Riot Games have now announced more events for fans to enjoy this month.

Progress Days

Progress Days has been confirmed to be the next part of RiotX Arcane‘s celebrations and is a holiday the show’s town of Piltover celebrates and is an event that will offer a load of Arcane tie-in events across Riot’s titles, along with a few extra surprises too.

We have already been informed of certain tie-ins across the board of Riot’s different titles, including Wild Rift, Valorant, and of course, League of Legends, and more content will be added to each during the Progress Days event such as players being able to explore the Council Archives in League. We have also been told about the epic gaming crossovers for PUBG Mobile and Fortnite that Arcane has also received. But why stop at those popular games? Why not go all out for the Progress Days celebrations?

So fans will be thrilled to find out that Arcane will also be crossing over into Among Us as well.

Players of Among Us will be able to look like a Piltover enforcer (sus) or the character Heimerdinger in the crossover event thanks to a small clip in the Progress Days event trailer showing the gameplay footage. No other details on what else the collaboration will involve have been released so far, but all the excitement for the show and the games involved is increasing.

The biggest games are about to crossover to celebrate the release of Arcane

Only one more day to go before Arcane premieres on Netflix and the promotion for the show based on one of the biggest games of all time is now spreading across to some of the other biggest games of all time.

Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds have both received the Arcane treatment and are offering exclusives for fans of the show to enjoy in their worlds.

Arcane Crossovers

Fortnite is no stranger to crossovers when it comes to games, movies, and even music being promoted through the online game by inspired skins and patches being added to the game for a limited time. Arcane is no exception when it comes to this, as one of the protagonists in the show, Jinx, has arrived on Fortnite.

Players are able to buy the “Arcane Jinx Outfit” in the item shop, along with items from the Arcane: League of Legends Set. You can have some fun with Jinx’s Dream Monkey Back Bling, and pick up the Pow Pow Crusher Pickaxe, made from surplus Pow Pow parts. You can also purchase some music from the Arcane Original Soundtrack.

Epic Games also announced League of Legends has arrived in its store, along with Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra, and Valorant, for the chance to get people into the League universe.

PUBG Mobile has also tapped into the RiotX Arcane celebrations by bringing the world of Runeterra onto the island of Erangel. Players can experience Arcane-inspired weapons and gear, characters, and map locations taking over PUBG MOBILE once the 1.7 update hits in mid-November during RiotX Arcane.

Both collaborations are bringing Arcane to a wider game community and are allowing everyone to experience it- no matter what their preferred game is.

Arcane drops on Netflix on November 6.

Chamber has an exciting kit, to say the least.

Riot has revealed the latest Agent to enter their competitive shooter with a special trailer released on Friday (see below). The new agent, Chamber, had his arsenal exhibited for the world to see.

Chamber is a new sentinel character. His Ultimate brings out his custom sniper rifle, which kills enemies in one shot and slows enemies around the player who died. For a more detailed breakdown, here are all of his abilities:

Chamber ability kit

C — Trademark

Place a trap that scans for enemies. When a visible enemy comes in range, the trap counts down and destabilizes the terrain around them, creating a lingering field that slows players caught inside it.

Q — Headhunter

Activate to equip a heavy pistol. Alt fire with the pistol equipped to aim down sights.

E — Rendezvous

Place two teleport anchors. While on the ground and in range of an anchor, reactivate to quickly teleport to the other anchor. Anchors can be picked up to be redeployed.

X — Tour De Force

Activate to summon a powerful, custom sniper rifle that will kill an enemy with any direct hit. Killing an enemy creates a lingering field that slows players caught inside of it.

Chamber is set to arrive in Valorant on Nov. 16, one patch after the release of Episode 3 Act 3.

In other news, October has seen some big next-gen titles being released, including the likes of FIFA 22, Far Cry 6 and Left 4 Dead’s spiritual successor, Back 4 Blood. Riot Games is going all out to celebrate its Netflix debut show releasing this week

Welcome to RiotX Arcane! A cross-game, cross-platform, cross-WORLD experience in celebration of the release of Netflix’s upcoming League of Legends series, Arcane. 

Riot Games is putting out all the stops to celebrate the release date of Arcane later this week. First, it dropped the final trailer in anticipation for fans to get excited, and now it has announced it will be holding Arcane-themed events across its games for its gamers to get involved with.

RiotX Arcane

League of Legends

League of Legends’ champion Caitlyn is receiving a new look with a huge art overhaul that includes updated skins and splash art, along with Arcane-themed skins. Inventor Jayce and the Arcane protagonists Jinx and Vi are also receiving new Arcane-themed skins too.

Wild Rift

The mobilised version of League is also getting an in-game event with Jinx and Vi skins to grab through daily logins into the game. Caitlyn and Jayce will also be added as new characters through the upcoming Hextech Heist event. There will also be themed weeks in Guild vs. Guild that will include Jinx and Vi, offering exclusive rewards while showcasing Piltover’s most iconic rivalries.

Legends of Runetterra

The digital collectable card game that is inspired by Magic: The Gathering is getting an entire permanent PvE game mode titled “The Path of Champions”. It’ll include an Arcane-themed series featured around characters from the show and their adventures in Piltover and Zaun. Jayce is also arriving as a playable champion. Both Valorant and Teamfight Tactics are getting some Arcane cosmetics too, as well as an Arcane battle pass with a new agent Chamber for Valorant.

Riot Games also announced that all its games have surpassed 180 million monthly active users and thanked its players via a tweet. The Netflix show could not come at a better time to celebrate that massive achievement.

The new Netflix show based on the global sensation debuts this week and the final trailer dropped to celebrate!

During Netflix’s fan event “TADUM“, the video streaming service announced it would be releasing a new show titled Arcane, based on the multiplayer online battle arena video game, League of Legends.

The show debuts on November 6 and we got another exclusive look at the show before it premieres thanks to Netflix dropping the final trailer!

Arcane Final Trailer 

The animated series based on Riot Games‘ League of Legends will tell the story of fan-favourite Champions Vi and Jinx, and what led to them becoming estranged sisters.

Vi and Jinx’s conflict will play out as a war brews between the twin cities of Piltover and Zaun. Piltover, the pristine city is for the elite with fancy clothes and armoured enforcers, and Zaun is the underground city for the abandoned and cut out from society. Finally sick of being screwed over by Piltover, Zaun starts to fight back. However, as things shake out between the two cities, the mad tinkerer and the gauntlet-wearing enforcer will be battling it out while confronting their long-simmering family issues.

The voice talents in the show include Hailee Steinfield, Ella Purnell, Kevin Alejandro, Katie Leung, Jason Spisak, Toks Olagundoye and more. The animation looks absolutely breathtaking and the show holds a lot of potentials to get this right, with Netflix previous animated shows based on video games, like Castlevania and The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf being strong examples of Netlfix getting a video game series’ adaptations right.

Imagine Dragons and JID also joined forces for Arcane’s opening, titled “Enemy”, which was released last week with a music video created by Riot and Fortiche Productions, the studios behind the show itself. The music video tells the story of Jinx’s childhood and what caused them to turn to crime.

Arcane comes out on Netflix globally on November 6.

Netflix unveiled its trailer for its upcoming animated series Arcane, based on the global sensation, League of Legends.

If you were like me and didn’t have any plans to entertain yourself on a Saturday evening, you probably tuned in to the new Netflix global fan event “TUDUM” to see all the latest news and trailers for Netflix’s fan favourite and upcoming new titles.

Many shows were featured in the long stream on YouTube, including two exclusive sneak peeks at The Witcher Season 2 and the recreation of the most iconic anime openings of all time for Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop. Yet one title definitely caught my eye despite shamelessly never stepping into the game’s universe before due to the sheer size of it. That show being Netflix and Riot Games‘ Arcane, based on League of Legends. 

What is Arcane about?

Arcane was originally revealed during Riot Games’ 10th anniversary back in 2019 and has been highly-anticipated ever since. It is set to premiere on Netflix globally, as well as Tencent Video in China, on November 6, just hours after the League of Legends Worlds Final, making the premiere a global celebration for games and fans of League alike. This is also Riot Games’ first venture into producing and developing a show, so Arcane’s reception will have a big impact on Riot Games’ prowess.

Set in the utopian region of Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun, the story follows the origins of two iconic League champions-and the power that will tear them apart.” Official Netflix Synposis.

The first three episodes of Arcane will focus on the very beginning of the two sisters from the hit game series, JInx and VI, and will continue world-building with its breathtaking animation and its characters going through moral dilemmas as the show goes on.

CEO of Riot Games Nicolo Laurent also said in a statement that “the players all over the world that love League and its universe is what inspires [them] to create expressions of Runeterra worthy of their fandom”. He also said the launch of Arcane is the “beginning of the next chapter for Riot Games” and the company “cannot wait” for their players to see what it has in store for them across games, entertainment and sport.

Arcane is definitely one of my most anticipated video game adaptations I am looking forward to coming out this year and will be available globally on Netflix from November 6.

The League of Legends developers are looking to explore the Chinese market more

Riot Games, known for its popular online battle arena video game League of Legends, has announced it will turn its attention more to China by adding a new headquarters in Shanghai and with extra focus on new games for a global audience.

Hundreds of roles will be created, according to the CEO of Riot Games, Nicolo Laurent.

League of Legends Dominates in China

China is a very important market for Riot Games because of the popularity of PC Gaming, with 32% of game revenue and nearly 45% of gamers in the Chinese market, according to Niko Partners.

League of Legends is also incredibly popular there, with a lot of passionate fans for the video game, as well as the developer itself.

The League of Legends World Championship, the annual professional League of Legends world championship tournament, was held in China in 2020 and will be held there again this year.

More e-sports and world competitions have become extremely popular in China, with estimations predicting e-sports will make $1 billion this year due to China’s contribution, and it’s that market Riot Games wants to tap into.

In China we have a lot of passionate players for ‘League of Legends’ and for Riot Games.”

“So as a result, we would like to double down in China and continue to invest here including not only working on e-sports, but for example, game development and other things like entertainment.” – Leo Lin, VP and head of China for Riot Games.

Not only that, but Mobile Gaming has become increasingly popular in China and now accounts for the biggest revenue overall in the country.

Riot Games launched its own mobile game last year titled League of Legends: Wild Rift in some regions, yet it has to fully launch in China. This is a change for Riot Games but the company believes it is an important area to move forward with and used a familiar title to kickstart this transition.

Riot Games is 100% owned by Chinese gaming giant Tencent, however, the developer has stated Tencent respects it works independently and has not tried to influence anything with their products.
