That title might be mildly confusing. Call of Duty: Vanguard is a shooter based on the second World War! Of course there is war in the game. That’s not what I mean though. Players want to see War – the game mode from Call of Duty: WW2 make a return in Vanguard. A user on Reddit made a post calling for Sledgehammer to add the game mode back in to the current iteration of the franchise.

War Game Mode in Call of Duty: WWII

War was a popular game mode in Call of Duty: WWII, where two teams of six players took on the roles of Allied or Axis soldiers. It was an objective-based game mode in which players fought in battles based on legendary WWII moments. War Mode hasn’t been in a Call of Duty game since, it appears that some fans are hoping for it to return in some manner in Vanguard.

Below is some gameplay from YouTuber Lil Izzy for those of you who may be unfamiliar with the War game mode.

War Mode was a terrific addition to WW2, according to a poster on the Call of Duty: Vanguard subReddit, and they are keen for it to return. People have echoed this sentiment in the comments, with one even claiming that Call of Duty: WW2’s only redeeming feature was the War game type. According to one comment, implementing War Mode took a lot of time and effort, which could be why it hasn’t been in any Call of Duty game since.

Fans don’t just want to see War Mode return; they also want map voting to return to Vanguard. For many years, the ability to vote on the next map has been a component of Call of Duty multiplayer, but it was noticeably lacking from 2019’s Modern Warfare. However, map voting was reinstated in last year’s Black Ops Cold War, but it is currently removed from Vanguard. This back and forth doesn’t really make any sense, and it doesn’t seem like an extensive feature to implement.

Visibility appears to be a significant issue in the latest CoD.

Call of Duty: Vanguard players have voiced many complaints since the game’s launch. Whether it’s been related to shotguns, spawns, etc. The latest game mechanic for users to demand a change to has been the Mortar Barrage killstreak.

As one would expect, Mortar Barrage sees one area of a map hit with several explosive payloads. If any enemies step inside, they are guaranteed to die, making it an excellent streak to use in Call of Duty: Vanguard’s objective modes. However, if players step near a teammate’s mortar fire, they will have trouble seeing anything due to the massive amount of dust that flies up into the sky. This problem shows clearly in a clip from Reddit user Dull-Caterpillar3153.

The amount of mortar dust in the footage is absurd, with the Call of Duty: Vanguard players unable to see anything around them. Even as they move around, the dust blocks their line of view, with the player often looking up to the sky in frustration. The strikes continue to hit the ground for several seconds, adding to the player’s frustration, as they cannot find any enemies when so much dirt is flying up into the air. In the comments, players added that the screen shake caused by the mortars hitting the ground only makes friendly versions of the streak more frustrating to deal with.

I have both played and enjoyed Vanguard, and I must say visibility is a frustrating issue. It makes the Piercing Vision perk a necessity.

Showing how troublesome the streak is, a separate Reddit thread from user IMPERATORVII7 focuses on the problems caused by the mortar dust and screen shake. While other Call of Duty: Vanguard issues are highlighted, the player’s primary focus is Mortar Barrage.

The complaints are understandable, especially on small maps like Das Haus or Shipment, where the dust will end up covering a large chunk of the map. Several comments back up their claim that the game is an “eye strain” because of this streak.

Mortar Barrage isn’t the only killstreak to receive complaints, either. Users have voiced their frustrations regarding the random path of the Bombing Run, causing you to die by your own kill streak. Sledgehammer has been listening to player feedback, and some changes will likely be coming soon.

If you have tried the new CoD, you are no doubt having fun with it; I for sure have been. However, you have also probably realised that time-to-kill is insanely quick on this latest entry, more so than in the past.

For that reason, racking up high-level killstreaks can be a bit daunting as your life can be taken at any moment, from any angle.

Luckily, there is a particular field upgrade that makes these high score killstreaks seem more attainable. Many players would have already been aware of this, but it is called Dead Drop for those who aren’t. By using Dead Drop, you can store your killstreak progress between lives if the field upgrade is activated.

Field upgrades are gradually earned over time while you play a multiplayer match and act as occasional boons to help you and your team in a match. Dead Drop is perhaps one of the more selfish ones, making it easier for you to earn your own rewards, but when you think about it, a high killstreak at the right time can totally save a game.

The post Call of Duty: Vanguard – Easy Killstreak Method first appeared on Get2Gaming.

The latest Call of Duty: Vanguard title released last week and revisits the franchise’s traditional roots by taking players back to World War II. We follow six Operatives along their various missions and operations throughout the war. Alongside a great campaign, Call of Duty: Vanguard also brings back the multiplayer that Call of Duty is so notoriously renowned for. However, as with any new game, Vanguard does not come without its bugs and glitches.

While the majority of the existing bugs will be resolved in future updates, some of them are currently causing things not to function properly. This is generating a lot of aggravation among some Call of Duty players. Many players are presently frustrated because the popular Combat Shield, previously the Riot Shield, isn’t working the way it usually does.

The Problem with the Combat Shield in Call of Duty: Vanguard

The Combat Shield in Call of Duty: Vanguard functions as a barricade for players. It protects them from incoming gunfire and forcing the opponent to find another means to eliminate them. When the Combat Shield isn’t in use, like it is in prior games like Modern Warfare, it is placed on the player’s back and prevents shots from behind.

This isn’t the case in Call of Duty: Vanguard however, as when it is on your back the shield currently does not block any bullets. Now, based on previous functionality and in the interest of realism, you would expect the shield to block bullets regardless of placement. The fact that it doesn’t block from the back has proven to be quite frustrating for some players.

On the other hand, it could be that this functionality is not actually a bug and has intentionally been changed to balance gameplay. Some players are supportive of the new functionality. It can be considered quite cheesy to use a Combat Shield to protect yourself from the back, with no penalty to movement when it’s stowed away. So, in a way, the functionality of the Combat Shield is not designed in a realistic way regardless. Either solution will lead to frustrations from either side.

If this functionality is not intentional, then it is almost guaranteed Sledgehammer will roll out a fix for this issue at some point in the future. But it could be possible that it is intentional and how the combat shield is supposed to function now. The game has only been available for a couple of days at this point, so of course some malfunctions will be present. If you are someone who uses the shield as a secondary, for now it may be best to substitute it for another secondary until a patch is released.

Other Ongoing Issues Right Now

There are also plenty of additional issues afflicting the game right now, such as Skill Based Match Making putting people in lobbies much over their ability level. Another big issue is that in modes like Hardpoint, the spawn sites either favour one team or leave players vulnerable to spawn killing, which occurs when a player is eliminated shortly after respawning. I am yet to see a Call of Duty release that isn’t plagued by these issues however.

In most games, the spawn points are moved away from the current players on the map to give the player time to assess the area and start playing before confronting an adversary. The spawn sites are now fixed, allowing foes to camp in the zones and rack up dozens numerous kills without giving their opponents time to react and strike back. There have even been cases of people spawning behind enemy lines too, which clearly isn’t supposed to happen. Hopefully the spawn issue will be fixed soon, as this can be one of the most frustrating aspects at times.

Sledgehammer Games releases a teaser teasing the Pacific Map coming to Warzone in place of the current Verdansk.

Call of Duty: Warzone have had the same map for its entire existence with the well known Verdansk map being introduced during release. Verdansk being a map that is originally featured on Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is based in the Cold War whilst the new pacific map, rumoured to be called Caldera is based in the World War II. Caldera is coming on Call of Duty: Vanguard in November with the map coming to Warzone in December.

Sledgehammer give fans a very short glimpse of what is to come for Warzone and Vanguard players in the pacific map. Especially, giving some incite into the story line of why players are heading to the Pacific.

In the teaser, it appears that Sledgehammer Games connect the story in Verdansk to the story in the Pacific, with Black Ops Cold War’s Adler, Woods, Hudson, and Mason together interrupting Call of Duty WW2 Captain Carver Butcher, after discovering him in a hidden Nazi bunker where he then goes onto then revealing he established the Vanguard team which then saw him move to the Pacific Island of Caldera to find the Nazis who fled Germany before Berlin fell.

With Call of Duty: Vanguard being released today; fans will be able to play on the Pacific Island of Caldera on Multiplayer Mode, with the map coming to Call of Duty: Warzone in place of Verdansk on December 3^rd. Although, replacing Verdansk comes at a big risk, fans have been asking for a new map on Warzone ever since Rebirth Island was introduced. It comes at big risks for the main reason of players being used to Verdansk and the specific locations. Fans letting go of something they are very much aware of will be a hard withdrawal to bare and may take time to become accustomed to the Caldera map. The map setting should be interesting as the setting is completed different to the current Verdansk map. We hope that the Warzone community accept the map as their own and enjoy it thoroughly.

With the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Vanguard not far off at all now. Sledgehammer Games have revealed what exclusive bonuses will be available for players who pick up the PlayStation version of the latest CoD title.

In the Battle Pass bundle, PlayStation fans can look forward to monthly double XP events, more custom loadout slots, and five tier skips. This was announced on the PlayStation Blog and recounted by CharlieIntel below. Those who play on a PlayStation console will also receive a new Combat Pack for each new season (PS Plus members only). Call of Duty’s Exclusivity History

Activision and Sony have an agreement in place that allows PlayStation players to access content before other platforms, and Vanguard is the latest in the series to carry on this tradition. Previously, PlayStation had early access to Vanguard’s Champion Hill mode, while the beta was first available on PlayStation before being made available on Xbox and PC.

According to a new video for Vanguard, the PlayStation-exclusive content will not be available on Xbox or PC for at least a year.

Microsoft had a relationship with Activision for Call of Duty exclusivity for years before Sony took it away from the Xbox business with Black Ops III in 2015. Since then, every PlayStation game has included some type of unique content, and Destiny did as well when it was released by Activision.

Vanguard is set to be released on November 5, and it isn’t the only major event for Call of Duty this year. To correspond with the WWII theme, the battle royale game Warzone is launching a brand-new map, Caldera, and changing its name to Warzone Pacific. In addition, with the acquisition of Digital Legends, Activision is really stepping up its efforts in the mobile market for Call of Duty.

Sledgehammer Games speak on the use of DualSense that will be implemented into Call of Duty: Vanguard and the addition of four New Multiplayer Operators.

Call of Duty have shown clear focus on applying real qualities and features into Vanguard to give players a realistic experience. This being shown by the real-life WWII setting, the attention to detail, the weapons used and more. PlayStation 5 DualSense controller feature is used to “Heighten your senses” with “immersive haptic feedback, dynamic adaptive triggers and a built-in microphone, all integrated into an iconic design.”

Depending on the gun of choice on Call of Duty: Vanguard. Players are to apply dissimilar amounts of pressure to the shooting trigger with this also applying to the aiming trigger. The controller will also give feedback, allowing the players to feel the weight of the gun as they fire with gun attachments also having affect on the feedback.

Sledgehammer Principal Engineer, Chris Fowler states in a PlayStation Blog; “Our goal in Call of Duty: Vanguard was to simulate the trigger weight of real-world weapons, and to give the player the opportunity to find the trigger pull that works for them in the game.”

“The feedback applied by the DualSense controller doesn’t just impact the firing trigger in Vanguard, but the scope trigger as well, meaning the downsight speed and L2 trigger weight changes based upon what weapon you’re wielding.  For example. heavy weapons will feel heavy, lighter weapons will feel light, and everything in between.  Plus, the attachments you have on your weapon will play a role in this as well, so it’s a factor to consider as you’re making your selections.” He stated.

Fowler then proceeds to explain how the use of DualSense’s haptic feedback will work for players.

“So when enemy fire is tearing through your cover, you will feel the impacts of the bursts and debris around you”

The use of DualSense brings players a much more realistic feel to the game, closing the gap between gaming and real-life war.

In a separate PlayStation Blog, Sledgehammer also details four new multiplayer operators.

Main character, Arthur Kingsley is amongst one of the four added multiplayer operators with him previously only being able to feature on the single player campaign mode. With the only other already revealed campaign mode player, Polina Petrova also being one of the four new operators added onto multiplayer. Both being playable on Campaign Mode.

Other two operators are completely brand new, one being Daniel Take Yatsu, a brave loyal soldier that keeps the promise of “no one gets left behind”. Lastly is Padmavati Balan, a rogue soldier that hates imperialism. She troops alone on a mission to save her people.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is scheduled for release on November 5^th when all the discussed Vanguard content will finally be playable.

With Vanguard writers hoping on playing a hand in creating two sequels for the game, stated earlier this month. Also being discussed during a New York Comic Con panel by Sledgehammer contractor Sam Maggs. She stated that she hopes Vanguard’s characters can become new mascots for the blockbuster franchise over multiple series entries.

Activision release Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies trailer leaving the COD community interested in trying out.

Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies mode trailer dropped October 14^th via YouTube showcasing interesting new additions from Treyarch. Fans seem to have noticed the return of original World at War Zombies map, Shi No Numa. Specifically pointing it out, Call of Duty Youtuber and Informant ModernWarzone posted a video on twitter showing proof of his sighting of the map. In the video, he shows frame by frame clips of the trailer. Pointing out the things that confirms it to be Shi No Numa.

With this later being confirmed by Activision fans are left excited. Shi No Numa being one of the monumental maps to drop with it being the third ever Zombies map changing the scene of Zombies as a whole.

Activision announced that Call of Duty: Vanguard is the “franchise-first crossover” stating that it is the “precursor to Black Ops Cold War Zombies.” Adding “This cooperative experience continues and intertwines with the Dark Aether story to create deeply engaging lore, all while innovating on the core gameplay that the mode is famous for.”

“From Stalingrad to Shi No Numa, you’ll fight Von List’s undead army on all fronts” with the trailer revealing many new abilities that have never been seen before on a Call of Duty: Zombies.

Zombies being developed by the original Treyarch opposed to Sledgehammer Games leaves the COD community very excited for what they have in store. Treyarch being original developers of the Call of Duty series, being in partnership since 2005 with the release of Call of Duty 2: Big Red One. Treyarch are heavily credited for the development of Zombies mode in the Black Ops series, especially Black Ops, Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3 with the Zombies being a standout game mode on those games.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is set to be released November 5^th with many fans excited all over the world. Many being interested in the Campaign mode which has been developed by Sledgehammer Games, which features an interesting storyline during World War II. Many Call of Duty players being interested in the Multiplayer game mode which has added new game modes and has always been the go-to for the COD community. But with the new Zombies trailer being unveiled, it has grasped many fans interest. We look forward to seeing how far the Zombies game mode will excel; with the addition of the classic map, Shi No Numa, many of the community believes Zombies could top all game modes in next month’s release.

The developers are making some significant changes before the beta launch.

Over the last week or so, players got access to Call of Duty: Vanguard in a PlayStation exclusive alpha. The alpha featured the new Champion Hill mode, which played like a sweaty Gunfight tournament that mixed small-scale Gunfight with battle royale themes, as duos and trios competed in a series of rounds to be the last team standing.

Overall, the alpha ran smoothly, and the new Champion Hill mode was definitely exciting. However, there were a few player concerns, especially with issues such as low visibility and lighting.

The Alpha stage is a trial period where many game mechanics are not set in stone and could change drastically before release or the later beta stage. During the beta stage, the mechanics you see will likely be closer to what you can expect at launch.

Hence, thankfully, these problems are being addressed by the developer Sledgehammer Games for the upcoming beta period.

In terms of beta periods, we have a few dates for you to add to your diaries. Notably, PlayStation users have significantly earlier access overall than Xbox or PC players.

PlayStation players on PS4 and PS5 who have pre-ordered Vanguard will have access to the beta first, from September 10th to a few days later on September 13th, before any other platforms.

After this, on September 16th, there’ll be a small opportunity for those on PC and Xbox platforms to take part in the exclusive beta alongside their PlayStation counterparts, for 24 hours only. This period is only available to those who have pre-ordered any edition of Call of Duty: Vanguard.

On September 18th, the Call of Duty: Vanguard beta opens up for everyone. PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S players will all be able to participate in the ongoing beta until two days later, on September 20th, when the entire beta will come to an end.

Call of Duty Vanguard’s promotional material has been leaked ahead of the game’s announcement…

The leaked promotional material confirmed much of what we know already, including the title’s alleged name, which we now know to be true.

Alongside the name confirmation, we received the game’s logo and key artwork. According to Charlie Intel, all of this was leaked from the game files of Black Ops Cold War following its Season 5 update.

We have also been given confirmation that Call of Duty: Vanguard will be available in three forms (Standard Edition, Cross-Gen Bundle, and Ultimate Edition). Some offer early access to an open beta.

Lucas, Polina and Wade Operator skins are also pictured, as are various weapons, including the Breacher assault rifle, Snowstorm marksman rifle, and Thunderhead submachine gun.

On Wednesday, reputable leaker Tom Henderson claimed that Activision plans to reveal Call of Duty: Vanguard on August 19th. He also appeared to hint at a November 5th release date for the game.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is being developed by Sledgehammer Games and will likely be revealed via an in-game event in free-to-play Warzone, as Black Ops Cold War was last year.
