EA has just announced a new FIFA 22 Ultimate Team promotion, Next Generation, in which anyone playing the game before January 14, 2022, will receive one of six possible wonderkid cards. All you have to do is play the game at least once before the cut-off point.

You will need to play FIFA 22 on either PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X (or S), PC or Stadia. Sadly, Next Generation players aren’t included in the Nintendo Switch version of FIFA 22.

Once you’ve qualified to earn a Next Generation item, EA says it will appear in your account “starting December 15”.

Next Generation is the second new campaign announced by EA in the space of a week, with FIFA 22 Numbers Up materialising last Friday – offering upgradeable cards for Bellingham’s team-mates Mats Hummels and Gio Reyna, along with Premier Leaguers such as Diogo Jota and Declan Rice.

Below is the complete FIFA 22 Next Generation cards list:

There may be some push-back, as tech reporter for Bloomberg Mark Gurman has pointed out the App Store’s primary policy being against letting third-party companies make their own gaming hubs in the store. And don’t even get me started on the Fortnite-Chinese store debacle or the play store legalese that became the impetus for a 1984-style ad on the topic by Epic Games.

Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia GeForce Now, and Google Stadia have also tried (and currently failed) to appeal to Apple, but as of yet, the only way way these services have gotten to work is via Cloud-based gaming services, like how Facebook (possibly soon to be Meta) has a bunch of accessible mini-games of varying quality you can play with friends on Messenger. I like Words with Friends and the basketball hoopy-shooty-woosh-dunkery one.

Gurman has gone on to state that despite Netflix’s games being playable via the in-app login, it can’t be downloaded from the app itself. You’ll have to get it from the app store first, then log into Netflix. For Android games, Netflix’s gaming system functions this way for the Google Play Store.

“Apple will need to change its rules or grant Netflix an exemption” […] “That leaves the ultimate success of Netflix’s service in the hands of Apple, a longtime partner but also a growing rival.” – Mark Gurman

The Funtime Netflix Recommendation Hole: Because I’ve heard many a sad tale from friends of mine complaining they ran out of stuff to watch on Netflix, so here’s some recommendations for anyone using Netflix UK, or anyone who’s international and uses Nord VPN or the like.

White Tiger (Netflix Original): A shrewd young man from a poor family uses his wit and intellect to rise to incredible wealth. A darkly funny and emotionally raw exploration of class struggles and inequalities. Think Wolf of Wallstreet but double the wolf (or tiger rather) and half the Wallstreet.

Inside Job (Netflix Original): What if every single majorly insane conspiracy theory (besides the Flat-Earther’s) was real and kept under wraps by a corrupt government? Boom! Quirky adult sitcom fun times written and produced by Gravity Falls creators Shion Takeuchi and Alex Hirsch! I especially liked the episode parodying James Bond that also acted as a critique of toxic masculinity and incel culture. For a breakdown on the Incel crowd, have a butcher’s at the video by Contrapoints on the topic.

Om Shanti Om: My very first Bollywood experience and a welcomed one! You know how a lot of JoJo fans (myself occasionally included) point to all the weird wacky plot points without context in a non-sequitur jokey way which leads to a “you gotta see it to believe it” method of encouragement? Om Shanti is basically THAT for Bollywood, so I won’t go too in-depth on the plot, but I will say it is a hilarious and beautiful watch alone or with friends. Overcome the one-inch-high barrier that is subtitles and you’re in for a world of fun.

Using your phone as a controller now possible with Google Stadia

Google has revealed a new feature Google has added “Phone Link” to Stadia, allowing you to play games using your smartphone as a gamepad on Android TV devices, your Chromecast, and through a web browser. Previously, Stadia required that you have a dedicated Stadia controller to play games using the service; you can use the phone link to connect a third-party gamepad. These include Xbox and PlayStation controllers that can be connected through Bluetooth, wifi, or USB via the Phone Link accessory.

A smartphone and a Google Stadia controller.

To connect and utilize this is simple, the “controller” icon has to be pressed in the Stadia app, and “Phone touch gamepad” would then be connected. Tapping this will launch a new menu that confirms that you can use your phone as a virtual controller to play on any screen. To utilize this fully, one would have to use the same Wi-fi network to operate this within a local server.

Stadia’s “bridge mode” is very helpful in this instance. The game streaming platform will immediately recognize any controllers connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth or wired connection. Once connected, the controls on the screen disappear and you will have gaming access for your phone; with this, “Playing on TV” is shown on the screen.

You can use your phone as a bridge to connect unsupported controllers to your TV for playing. With Phone Link utilized, you can connect third-party controllers to your smartphone and then have those controllers work when playing on your TV.

YouTube channel 9to5Google has outlined much of its setup here:

Using your phone screen as a controller may not work for many 3D games due to the lack of tactile controls. This means it lacks the precision of an actual gamepad. But, if you don’t have enough controllers for a multiplayer experience, it is a useful tool.

Stadia’s “Phone Link” tool is available to use now.

War for Wakanda DLC is the latest instalment that will be added to the action role-playing brawler video game. Developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix, we shall also be reunited with the Black Panther himself, T’challa, voiced by Christopher Judge.

Comic Book Resources (CBR) spoke to the development team behind War for Wakanda, explaining what fans can expect from the DLC in terms of the gameplay and the characters involved.

War For Wakanda DLC

Hannah MacLeod, Writer, stated that the biggest thing the development team wanted to focus on was how T’Challa comes with an entire nation and go into depth with his character through that. She also mentions the team wanted to focus on how the characters fit into the overall story side of things with the Kree invasion (the main story arc in the DLC), and not just from a fan’s point of view.

Scott Walters, Senior Designer, goes onto explain how T’Challa addition to Marvel’s Avengers works with the rest of the Avengers and how they didn’t want to make anyone underpowered or overpowered because, “at the end of the day, we want everyone to have fun regardless of the hero they pick.”

T’Challa is going to be very much about buffing and debuffing both players and enemies alike. His skills of combat include; light combo, heavy combo, range attacks, and heroics. Walters goes onto describe if fans want to gain the most out of Black Panther, they will need to learn “the nuance of the skills, the rotation in which to apply them, and how to maintain all of those buffs and debuffs to be most effective.”

Players will get to play as Black Panther as well as explore the Wakanda biome, a brand new biome that stands out from all the biome previously featured, due to being outside of the US, and features the “technological utopia blended with nature” fans see in the MCU adaptation.

Also from the MCU adaption, we met Ulysses Klaue, who will be the main enemy for players to defeat but will see him in a new, unexplored light.

He was also really fun to tap into just in terms of his personal vendetta against Wakanda. It’s so similar to T’Challa’s backstory; they’ve both lost fathers to things that they consider unfair. It makes them almost alike enough to be dangerous, almost as if they’re too similar to be in the same room without butting heads. It wasn’t about just getting a big bad to punch; Klaue is someone who could say just the right things to make T’Challa snap. – Scott Walters, CBR.

Ulysses will be incredibly tech-savvy in the game with his sonic technology that the development team had fun creating a new damage type and a new enemy archetype. Players can expect to fight enemies with this sonic technology along with drones that will disorientate the player which you can tackle in solo or multiplayer.

A level of customisation can be expected for players with heroic upgrades and to the skills as well as through gear perks for players to tailor and fit T’Challa to fit their playstyle.

With the new War for Wakanda DLC attracting more Black Panther only fans, and this DLC being the latest instalment to a long campaign game, the development team wanted to make the campaign accessible to those playing the DLC by including the option to easily access it from the main menu. Fans that only want to play the War for Wakanda DLC can expect some spoilers from the main campaign but will be free to enjoy it for the DLC only nonetheless.

War for Wakanda DLC will be available on August 17 and added to Marvel’s Avengers at no additional cost for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Stadia and PC.

Only specific Destiny 2 fans have received this secret message…

Don’t believe us? See for yourself. Bungie has sent out special kits to a select few, but fans were pleasantly surprised to come across this secret message.

The most recent season of Destiny 2, called ‘Season of the Splicer’ started in May and will only be running until August. Players must battle for The Last City as their fate is in their hands…but as a special tribute to Season 14, Bungie chose 45 Destiny 2 content creators to send these kits to. As Destiny 2‘s at week 6 out of 13, this means the season is halfway through and will soon be coming to an end, fans still have time to get through but most have completed half of the ‘Season of the Splicer’ content. The story throughout this season has meshed well with the kit Bungie has chosen to send out to content creators, it follows Destiny 2’s chaos, corruption and by definition ruinous theme.

Here, we see the Twitter user and Youtuber RickKackis showing his fans the special package he received, called the ‘Season Of The Splicer Survival Kit’. The gift comes in the form of a bulky briefcase. Inside the case, he was greeted with a card that has just a few letters on the almost blank page. He also received; a cassette player, a cassette tape, Koss Porta Pro headphones, a light-up display shaped in the Destiny logo (it also changes colour!) and…an ultraviolet torch that is what he uses to reveal that mysterious message on the card, which is, of course, written with the Season of the Spicer storyline in mind. There’s no doubt that the Season of the Splicer is focused around Vex’s plan to push The Last City into ruin, so a secret message that can only be deciphered by Destiny 2 content creators is the best way to send out something interesting to the fans.

Tried to get a good pic of the hidden message!
Doesn't seem like anything too crazy pic.twitter.com/rDnLKbrCM8

— KackisHD (@RickKackis) June 22, 2021

After shining the UV light over the small card, the message is revealed…and it reads (ahem..) :

“You are called upon to become Splicers to override the endless night that has befallen the Last City by destroying the Vex Network from the inside.

Here is your survival kit to help endure the endless night and dive into Destiny’s latest season, Season of the Splicer.

Show your community you’re ready to jump into this new season using the following hashtag #SeasonoftheSplicer. We wish you an amazing journey!”

However, the message (though a pleasant surprise) just happens to be a celebration for The Season of the Splicer, rather than revealing any crazy spoilers, which in a sense is a good thing for any fans who have yet to play through. There will sure to be other fans who will continue data mining for such spoilers regardless but in the meantime, at least this season can come towards a gentle close for players and welcome a new change for the next set of content to arrive after August.

You can get Destiny 2 on the PS4, PS5, PC, Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S.
