No Man’s Sky has received a new free update called Outlaws.

Fans of the space-exploration game were sent into a frenzy two days ago after Hello Games‘ founder, Sean Murray, tweeted a cryptic pirate flag emoji. Murray has a habit of posting single emojis to announce the arrival of updates, so this latest emoji caused a sea of speculation on what a pirate update could be. This morning, Murray tweeted a second pirate flag emoji, causing even more excitement.

However, fans won’t have to wait any longer with Update 3.85 Outlaws out now. The official trailer introduces “outlaw systems; the ability to recruit your own squadron of pilots; improved space combat; a stunning Solar Sail Starship and much more!” Watch the trailer below.

No Man’s Sky‘s last major update Sentinel was released in February, which focused on an overhaul of the combat system and it looks like this latest update follows in the same vein.

Pirate’s Life for Me

Outlaws allows players to recruit their own crew of pirates, or wingmen, and has increased the number of ship slots so you can amass your own pirate fleet. The update brings a new ship with solar sails but it also adds planetary frigates to the game as well. And with an improved space combat system and the ability to launch pirate raids on planets, players can terrorise both space-farers and landlubbers alike.

The update also brings a new Outlaws Story to the game and sends players on bounty missions for more pirate raids. Fully committing to the pirate theme, players can smuggle items and evade cargo scans and hide out in your very own pirate coves – or outlaw space stations, if you prefer – when tired of pillaging or hiding from sentinels.

But, perhaps most importantly of all, this new update also allows players to wear capes!

No Man’s Sky won a BAFTA last week for the Evolving Game category and, with this latest update, the game doesn’t look set to stop evolving any time soon.

Coming to Switch

No Man’s Sky is available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. But Nintendo Switch owners have something to look forward to as well, with Sean Murray tweeting today that the move to Switch is “shaping up nicely” for this summer, with all five years of the game’s updates included from its launch. So watch out for that!

The post No Man’s Sky Releases New ‘Outlaws’ Update first appeared on Get2Gaming.

The CEO of Gearbox Entertainment, Randy Pitchford, will be stepping down as President of gearbox software, and moving over to the newly formed film and TV portion of the company, Gearbox Studios. He is handing the reigns over to former CTO Steve Jones. Jones has worked at Gearbox for the last 22 years and served as Technical director on the first two “Borderlands” games.

While with Gearbox Studios, Randy will be overseeing the development of the upcoming Borderlands movie. Despite this, Randy has said that he will continue to give his “institutional knowledge of Gearbox brands and franchises”

Earlier this year, Gearbox was acquired by the embracer group, (who also own 3D realms, the original creators of the duke Nukem franchise currently owned by gearbox) in a deal worth 1.3 billion. At the time, Randy Pitchford told Gamesindustry.biz that it was “like a rocket booster” for his company’s ambitions.

The company is now split into 3 sections, Gearbox software, gearbox studios and gearbox Publishing, with the latter being headed by Steve Gibson.

Randy Pitchford got his start in the games industry at 3D Realms in Texas back in the 90s, where he worked as a level designer on numerous classic FPS games for the Build Engine, such as Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior. In 1997, he left 3D Realms and went to work at Rebel Rocket on the game “Prax War”, but Publisher EA pulled the funding in 1999 and Randy left Rebel Rocket to found Gearbox Software.

Gearbox would then go on to produce 3 expansion packs for Valves “Half-Life”, released as “Half-Life: Opposing Force”, “Half-Life: Decay” and “Half-Life: Blue shift”. After this, Gearbox would come to be best known for Developing and releasing the celebrated Borderlands series, the first entry of which sold 4.5 million copies.
The studio has also had some controversy. In quick succession Gearbox released the much Maligned “Duke Nukem Forever ” and “Aliens: Colonial Marines ” which were received incredibly poorly. This pales, however, to the 2018 Litigation against Pitchford over him allegedly leaving a USB stick containing company records and an adult video at a medieval themed restaurant. The Litigation was settled out of court and Randy Pitchford was exonerated.

Despite being available on the Console version of Xbox Game Pass for well over a year now, Bungie’s Seminal FPS-RPG/Looter Shooter “Destiny 2” will finally launch on Xbox Game pass for PC. The Game Will come Bundled with the “Beyond Light” Expansion.

The game received Heavy optimisation for the console version last year with the port to the Xbox Series X, With additional support for 4k resolution and the ability for the console version to run at 60FPS. The version coming to the game pass will be functionally indistinguishable from the version available on Steam or Stadia, however People playing the Xbox games pass version will have a unique Platform Icon for cross-play. This will help players distinguish between people playing on different versions of the game.

The release will Feature the most recent Expansion for Destiny 2, “beyond light” which added the controversial Darkness based abilities of stasis. The expansion tells the story of the guardians trip to europa in an effort to stop Eramis, the leader of the fallen house of Salvation, in her efforts to harness the darkness for evil. Along the way you encounter and learn more about many characters within the greater destiny narrative, including returning favourites from destiny 1 such as Variks the Loyal and the mysterious Exo Stanger, as well as learn how to use the dark power known as stasis yourself.

However Bungie have made clear that the game will not include the next Expansion, “Destiny 2: the Witch Queen”, scheduled to launch on February 22nd, 2022. This expansion will continue the narrative of the destiny franchise as the Guardians come into conflict with Savathun, Hive goddess of deception and sister of Oryx, Main villain of destiny 1’s “The Taken King” expansion. Players will face off against a new threat, the Lucent Brood, a group of enemy aliens who have been gifted the same abilities as players, including resurrection.

It is also not currently clear if the Xbox Game Pass version of Destiny 2 will feature the expansions “Forsaken” and “Shadowkeep” from 2018 and 2019 respectively, or if these will need to be purchased separately by players.

For the last 7 years Bungie’s Destiny franchise has been the leading voice in the looter-shooter/ FPS RPG genre. Despite its initial poor reviews and numerous missteps along the way, the game has created a dedicated and loyal fanbase. However, even now you will be hard pressed to find a fan who doesn’t have some complaints about the game or its direction.

The most recent case of this is destiny’s lack of an integrated loadout system. Due to the sheer amount of activities in the game, there is often need to change out your entire set of armour, Mods and weapons. The Sorts of gear you need for PVP are completely different to what you need for general PvE, and that can be completely Different from the sort of gear needed for High end PvE such as raids. This is bad enough, but when you need to change up to 4 or 5 different armour mods this can get incredibly tedious.

While destiny 2 does not currently have an integrated loadout system, there do exist some third party sites such as Destiny Item Manager (DIM) that have similar functionality, but it all exists in a semi-jerry-rigged method and its a system that is not accessible for all players. As such a number of fans have taken to creating their own ideas for how the menu UI could work.

Due to the sheer amount of Players wanting this change to come, It seems likely that it wont be too long until bungie adds this to the game. However, with how long it took to get a trasmog system into the game, and how negatively the system was received when it did finally come out means it’s best to be sceptical going forward.

Destinys next expansion, “Destiny 2: the Witch Queen” is set to launch on February 22nd, 2022, and is available for pre-order now.

The post Fans are pressuring Bungie to add a Loadout System to Destiny 2 first appeared on Get2Gaming.

According to recent rumours, Bluepoint Games may be working on a project related to Bloodborne. A recent tweet from Colin Moriarty says:

Bluepoint games are the studio known for recently recreating the original Demon’s Souls, the first title in the series by FromSoftware. Since Demon’s Souls original release on the PS3 back in 2009, FromSoftware has found great success with the game’s spiritual successors Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro – Shadows Die Twice.

The games are known for being notoriously hard, promoting a slow and steady playstyle. Bloodborne flipped this on its head, encouraging players to fight more aggressively with stronger emphasis on utilising speed and mobility against the cursed beasts that plague the city of Yharnam.

As Bluepoint have already demonstrated through the Demon’s Souls remake on PS5, they are more than capable of breathing new life into FromSoftware’s original creations. The PS5 remake of Demon’s Souls managed to not only improve the game visually and improve the feel of the game, but did this while staying true to the original vision FromSoftware had intended. All the frustrations of the original game refreshed and revitalised to raise your blood pressure once again, yet still just as satisfying to see “Demon Vanquished” flash upon your screen after conquering one of the games many fearsome bosses.

However, Bluepoint Games has also said recently that the next project they will be working on is an original title, so this had led to some speculation that the two projects are linked and that we may be seeing a sequel to the original Bloodborne. I am not sure how much truth there would be to this though, as FromSoftware are probably more focused on the development of Elden Ring. This means they are unlikely to be as involved in a Bloodborne sequel being developed alongside Bluepoint Games. So it’s more likely Bluepoint are working on a remastered version of Bloodborne.

Although Moriarty is not known for making leaks of this nature, he is on the other hand well connected when it comes to information relating to PlayStation releases. He has connections to many people working with PlayStation titles from his history as a reporter for IGN, where he focused solely on PlayStation coverage. To add to this, he is also the host of Sacred Symbols, a popular podcast that also focuses on PlayStation information.

You could say the information comes from a credible source and conclude that is quite likely we could be seeing a Bloodborne remake quite soon. Some would argue that it might even be too soon actually, as Bloodborne was only released in 2015.

I however eagerly look forward to returning to the plague infested Yharnam, whether that be through for the form of a sequel or a remaster. Bluepoint are known for working on their projects fast though, so I don’t expect it will be long until we start to hear more about what they are working on.

In the meantime, whilst waiting to hear more, why not try Bloodborne – GOTY edition to get a feel for the original, or the Demon’s Souls remaster to see just how good Bluepoint Games are at what they do?

The post Bloodborne Rumours: Bluepoint Games goes “to Yharnam” first appeared on Get2Gaming.

The 1.3.2 update for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla contains various bug fixes, as well as new graphics options for Stadia users.

The new update launched at 1pm today. This update has fixed various issues that were obstructing gameplay and visuals, as well as offering more graphics mode options.

This update has laid the groundwork for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Viking Age Discovery Tour DLC, to be released on October 19.

This is a free educational DLC that will allow players to interact with the environments Valhalla has to offer, discovering the history and Viking culture as they explore. The DLC will be completely free for those who already own the game, and a standalone version will be available for £16.99 for PC. It’s fantastic that Ubisoft is making its wealth of research widely available for students, scholars, and gamers alike.

Our favourite pink blob is back with a 3D platforming adventure

Kirby is one of Nintendo’s most iconic characters, but for the past few years he’s been mostly neglected – and Kirby games have been struggling to compete with Nintendo’s other titles. But things are looking up for Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

The game was announced officially at Nintendo’s Direct, to much excitement. This entry in the series will be Kirby’s first fully-3D platformer. Perhaps it’s due to Kirby’s positive reception in Smash Bros Ultimate that led Nintendo to produce a series of Kirby fighter games, but the vast majority of fans have been longing to see Kirby returning to his action-platformer roots.

The world depicted in Kirby and the Forgotten Land appears to be a post-apocalyptic version of our own world, overrun with plants and animals. It is a jarring thematic contrast from the typical bright Kirby colours and cheery soundtrack – which only makes me more curious to see how the game will unfold.

Despite how different the setting is to Kirby’s home planet, Popstar, it is complete with familiar characters, enemies, and obstacles. Kirby will be kitted out with his iconic (and terrifyingly powerful) copy ability too.

I do have to wonder about the dissonance between the eerie setting and cheerful Kirby-esque tone. What brought this civilisation to rubble? Could Kirby’s god-like powers possibly have something to do with it? As cute and squishy as he looks, Kirby’s dealt with some of Nintendo’s most frightening and straight-up absurd bosses ever.

Whatever the story behind this lost civilisation, I’m expecting it to be just as strange and inexplicable as the series’ other elements.

The previous platformer in the Kirby line-up was Kirby Star Allies for the Nintendo Switch in 2018. In this game, Kirby was able to recruit up to three enemies to help him conquer various platform challenges. The game received high praises for its graphics, mechanics, and soundtrack. Additional content added in a later update provided eager players with some extra challenges, and the game became the most successful series entry since Kirby’s Dream Land.

Everybody loves a gaming-themed home appliance. A personal favourite of mine was the “Jugger-Nog Mini Fridge” which released alongside Black Ops 3. For Destiny fans a new must-have home appliance has become available for pre-order in the form of a Destiny-themed Toaster.

Last year, Bungie announced that if the Destiny community was able to raise around $800,000 USD for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital then they would release an official Destiny-themed toaster. Well, the community did in fact hit this target and now this exciting bit of gear is set to hit the streets.

The Toaster is made in reference to the frequently used term “let’s get this bread” by Destiny players during loot runs and the Jötunn rifle itself being nicknamed a toaster.

Hi friends, I’m really excited to be writing my first post on the Go2games blog!

Blogs are amazing platforms to share knowledge, ideas and personal thoughts. Firstly I want to start off by introducing myself, my name is Teneil I am 21 years old and I am part of the social media administration team at Go2Games! I would get straight into telling you my first tasks of the day but I would be lying if i didn’t tell you that it started with a Spiced Chai Latte lol. My day started at 10am posting the new 60 seconds news video on twitter and Tik Tok, my colleague Tanisha manages the other social media platforms e.g. Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat.

I actually got to sit behind the scenes whilst Ron, Toby and Sam from the post production team filmed the news episodes which was a really cool experience!

I later followed with uploading Daily Deals/ News Images which consist of the latest gaming updates, news and upcoming releases… if you’re a Sonic fan you defiantly want to head over to the twitter page for their most recent announcement!

This afternoon the “Inside streamers” second episode went live on YouTube, they came together for a second time by the benches for a good old chit chat… its definitely worth a watch!

To end the day I released the Go2Games “Music2Games” playlist which is our most recommended hits to play whilst gaming, call me bias but our playlist caters to everyone.

Overall it was a really successful day and excited to see what tomorrow brings!

Why The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes won’t let you play as a female

Zelda: Triforce Heroes allows you to team up with three other friends to ultimately conquer the dungeons in the Zelda universe. Although there may by three heroes and a whole host of different costumes to wear, playing as a female is not an option in the game.

The director of the game, Hiromasa Shikata, has stated in an interview that the game requires three male heroes, so there is no room for any female leads playable in the game. He has also stated that the story focuses on a prophecy, which was made with male heroes in mind.

“The story calls for this sort of legend/prophecy where heroes will come together to help solve a problem,” Shikata has said. “And in that, they are male characters. So, because the game is set with that as the story background, you cannot choose a gender; you are a male character.”

Shikata also stated that the developer doesn’t see a big problem with the choice, but there is still room for female characters to be invested in. “I understand what you’re saying, and just as general information, we do have a lot of female staff members who are playing this game and enjoying it. It doesn’t seem to be a big issue to them. They still are getting emotional investment in this game. And to be honest, Link isn’t the most masculine of guys in the world, depending on how you want to project yourself into the character.”
