With the upcoming 2021 Game Awards this week, we have decided to compile a list of our own favourite games which we’ve been treated to this year. For those unfamiliar with the gaming world, this list will come particularly useful for you if you’re looking to buy a gamer that perfect gift this Christmas. So fear not, you won’t disappoint your loved one if you stick closely to what we have to say!
Not only this, but we reckon it’s best that we divide the games into specific age groups. After all, we don’t want you walking in on your nine year old playing Deathloop this boxing day, do we? Well, I mean, I hope we don’t that is. So buckle in and make sure you double check what’s age appropriate for your loved ones this Christmas (oh and don’t forget to buy the correct one for the correct platform)!
Kids
Super Mario World + Bowser’s Fury- Now, now, don’t get angry at us. Of course we know that Mario games can be enjoyed by players of all ages. Believe us, no one was more excited for the latest release of Mario Party Superstars. However, there is no doubt Super Mario World is one of the best family games of the year, and that’s why we love it so much.
Whilst the original was released in 2013, this updated version improves on it in every way! Delve through a ton of collectables whilst exploring worlds with our favourite Italian plumber. Or perhaps you’d rather control the likes of Luigi, Peach and Toad instead. The choice is completely yours in order to save the Sprixie Kingdom.
Additionally, the bonus of getting to play Bowser’s Fury is a massive plus. The open-world platformer sees Mario team up with Bowser Jr. and will have you entertained for hours. The adventure through the cat-themed world is certainly not to be missed.
Forza Horizon 5- Who doesn’t love a great driving game? We definitely do! For those looking for the rush of driving at fast speeds but don’t want that lawsuit to follow, well this will have you covered.
Get behind the wheel and witness the immersive open map of Mexico. Explore the grand cities, beautiful beaches and historic ruins in your own customised cars. Not only this, but there’s a plethora of challenges across its action packed story. A must-have for every driving fan, pick up your copy here.
Teens
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart- An evil robotic emperor is set to conquer cross-dimensional worlds and is coming for your one. What’s not to like? This latest edition to the classic Insomniac franchise is certainly a worthy entry! Its platforming never gets tiresome and neither does its unique combat styles.
Not only this, but you’ll be able to control a new female fighter called Rivet, who is a great addition to the goofy cast. Overall, the game looks beautiful on the PS5, and will be gratefully appreciated as any present this Christmas. Don’t hesitate, get your copy here right now!
It Takes Two- Listen up all co-op lovers! This one is here for you. The indie game can only be played with two players so find a partner quick to team up with. This is what steam have to say on the product:
“Embark on the craziest journey of your life in It Takes Two. Invite a friend to join for free with Friend’s Pass and work together across a huge variety of gleefully disruptive gameplay challenges”.
“Master unique and connected character abilities in every new level. Help each other across an abundance of unexpected obstacles and laugh-out-loud moments. Kick gangster squirrels’ furry tails, pilot a pair of underpants, DJ a buzzing night club, and bobsleigh through a magical snow globe. Embrace a heartfelt and hilarious story where narrative and gameplay weave into a uniquely metaphorical experience”.
Videogames For Adults
Deathloop– We’ve previously mentioned this game already, and for good reason. This first-person shooter sees you take on assassin Colt, who is stuck in a time loop in an alternate 1960’s. The the only chance for escape is to end the cycle by assassinating eight key targets before the day resets. Learn from each cycle – try new paths, gather intel, and find new weapons and abilities. Do whatever it takes to break the loop.
Halo Infinite- Does anything really need to be said about this? Any gamer worth their weight knows how amazing this game is, so we don’t really need to say much more. Only that if your loved one hasn’t played it and is an Xbox gamer, well get it. Get it now.
So that’s all our games to buy this Christmas! If you want a wider range of selections, well check out our website for even more great titles to explore!
