Splinter cell is one Ubisoft’s most beloved franchises, despite the series having been on hiatus since 2013s Splinter Cell Blacklist. Fans have been calling for the series to return since then, and recent leaks suggest that the franchise may be about to make its long awaited return.
Ubisoft has recently filed a trademark for “Splinter Cell”, with the application having been filed on December 6th. Not, trademark applications dont necessarily suggest a game is in the works, as it can easily just be case of a company protecting their properties, but keeping in mind that there have been recent rumors of a new Splinter Cell game this may be one of the few cases where this is more than just IP protection.
Back in October, rumors started to circulate that Ubisoft had greenlit a new Splinter Cell game, with the project moving into the early phases of production. Reports have claimed that the game may be being built as an open world title, which would fit in-line with Ubisoft’s general game output.
