For those who enjoy their gaming with a HDR-capable display, you’ll understand how vital it is to to calibrate it perfectly to get the best visual quality. Whilst the Xbox offers an HDR Game Calibration, gamers will be happy to hear Microsoft is bringing it over to Windows too, with a Windows HDR Calibration app. Great news!
What will the Windows App offer?
As with the Xbox app, the Windows version will give us three test patterns. These consist of patterns which give us the chance to change the darkest visible detail, the brightest visible details as well as display maximum brightness. It seems that these will be taken from the HDR Gaming Interest Group, and they always have our best interest at heart, don’t they?
Despite the fact Microsoft said the certified HDR displays work appropriately on default settings, they still encourage us to get the Windows HDR Calibration app for the convenience alone. Why wouldn’t you to be fair? An extra bit of help never goes amiss.
Where can you find this capability?
It is located in the Settings app under System>Display> HDR in the Windows 11 Dev Channel build 22557 that just rolled out yesterday. However, since that it not quite live, you will be redirected to Microsoft’s blog post. Once it becomes an option, you will also be able to get it from the Microsoft store. When that happens is another question, but stay tuned for when it does!
In the meantime, why not check out all the other exciting projects Microsoft have going on! Also, don’t forget to head on over to our store for all the gaming goods your hearts can desire!
