The Force seems to be getting stronger and stronger for us gamers in recent weeks! After the latest game play trailer for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker SAGA, EA has just announced that three new Star Wars games are on the from Respawn Entertainment. What a time to be a Star Wars fan!
According to reports, one of the games will be the sequel to the critically-acclaimed title- Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. After selling a staggering 10 million copies worldwide, it shouldn’t come as too much of surprise Respawn would be eager to make a follow up. Referred to only as ‘the next chapter in the Star Wars Jedi story’, God Of War 3 director Stig Asmussen will once again take the helm, but other than that there’s obviously little information on Fallen Order 2.
The other two games are set to be a first-person shooter directed by Peter Hirschmann, who has a long history of involvement with Star Wars titles, and a strategy game to be developed by a newly formed studio, Bit Reactor, and overseen by Respawn.
Previously, Peter was VP development at LucasArts as well as being executive producer on the original Star Wars Battlefront games. He expressed his joy of working on the project by stating “Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, as this is a story I have always wanted to tell”.
Respawn Eager To Get Started On New Games
Respawns infamous reputation with First-Person Shooters will certainly have every Star Wars fan excited for the upcoming games. Whilst there is no confirmation that the new shooter will have anything to do with Star Wars Battlefront, there is a possibility it could be a spin-off to the series.
Additionally, the strategy game looks like it has potential too. As previously mentioned, the game is in co-production with new studio Bit Reactor, which is head by Greg Foerstch. Greg has formerly worked on the design of Sid Meier’s Alpha Centurai as well as being an artist for other Firaxis titles such as the XCOM series. Therefore, we should be excited to see what he can bring to the Star Wars table.
“We are huge fans of Star Wars here at Respawn and we’re thrilled to work with Lucasfilm Games on new titles that we have wanted to make for years,” said Head Of Respawn, Zampella. “If you want to make great Star Wars games, you should come join us on our journey.”
Who’s excited for this journey to get started then? If you want to pick up a copy of Fallen order, well you know where to go!
