Apex Legends ‘Season 11: Escape’ has been announced alongside images of a new playable character in the form of Ash (pictured above).
Plot twist, Ash has technically taken part in Apex Legends before the upcoming season 11. Remember that overseer in Apex’s Arena Mode? It was Ash all along! From the critically acclaimed and severely underrated Titanfall 2! This likely means we’ll see some epic crossover event between the franchises once season 11 drops. EA has plenty of wriggle-room to work with storywise.
For an epic-looking story trailer to Ash’s inclusion to Apex, click here. Ash is a sort of artificial intelligence ‘simulacrum’ formed from the consciousness of formed from one Dr Ashleigh Reid who eventually goes on an onslaught of Agent Smithian proportions. A recent press release also claims Ash and the slither of Ashleigh in her subconscious has some connection to another doctor in the Apex universe. From a glance over at the Apex Legends comics, our two main suspects for who Ash may have known in her human days are either Dr Aleki Gibraltar or Armen Fletcher, both of whom work with ‘The Group’ on the ‘Project Iris’ initiative.
Titanfall’s C.A.R Sub Machine Gun (as opposed to a Dom Machine Gun) will also be added in Season 11. A while ago, Respawn mentioned delaying plans for a new Titanfall game due to focus on developing Apex after its unexpected success, so if this does well, maybe we’ll hear more rumblings of another Titanfall game coming. Community coordinator Jason Garza claimed a month ago that prospects of a Titanfall sequel are unlikely, but Respawn vaguely countered this with statements of how the franchise are at the company’s roots and a general ‘who knows what the future may hold’ optimistic tone.
Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
