Attack on Titan x Sanrio collab announced: Hello Kitty Erwin is a reality - Get2Gaming

Fans are loving the unexpectedly cute combination.

Everybody loves Hello Kitty. The cute cat produced by the Japanese company Sanrio is recognisable all over the world for her iconic red bow and white fur. Sanrio has had crossovers with plenty of anime before, including My Hero Academia, Steins;Gate, and Mobile Suit Gundam. This time around, the famous kitty is taking up residence with the Survey Corps.

At the time, we didn’t know which character was assigned to whom. (Turn around!!! one of my friends yelled when I sent it to them.) Everyone felt it was pretty obvious that Maru would be our beloved and brooding captain.

We didn’t have to wait long for the reveal though. It came the following day:

I had to get in on the fun myself, and drew my own interpretation of Commander Kitty.

Attack on Titan, which first aired in 2013, is one of the most popular anime of all time. No doubt, the collab is shaping up to be a huge success. You might think that fans of such a gorey show wouldn’t meet Sanrio’s target demographic, but it’s quite the opposite. Fans are always looking for comedic relief from the darkness of Attack on Titan, and the parody spin-off Attack on Titan: Junior High, is very well-loved.

I, and surely many other fans as well, am dying to get my hands on a few of the plushies. Jean is my all-time favourite character, but Hello Kitty Erwin is kind of too iconic not to buy. And I can’t buy Erwin and leave him Levi-less! I’m looking forward to the release, but I don’t think my bank account is.

Part 2 of the final season of AOT is set to release January 9th, 2022 – so hype is in a good place right now!
