We here at get2gaming have formerly reported on the news that sony are porting 2018s “God of War” (dad of boy) to PC in January next year. However it has just come out that, despite Sony Santa Monica overseeing the project, it is being developed by Jetpack interactive.
Jetpack are a studio you probably haven’t heard of by name before, however they are far from new at the PC porting game. They have left their mark on the PC ports of games such as “Dark Souls”, “NBA LIve 14, 15 and 16”, and also the port of ”Plants VS Zombies: Garden Warfare”. They have also provided Engineering support on “Dark Souls” and “Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare”, although their ties to “Dark Souls” PC are questionable as that particular port was Notoriously shoddy and was only really sorted out with the release of the Remaster in 2018. Finally, they helped out with the UI on the former Mentioned NBA.
It is a little strange that Jetpack where picked to do the port, as Sony own the highly acclaimed port studio “Nixxes software”. This is even more concerning given that, when it launched on PC in august of last year, the game suffered from some serious performance issues that took a number of patches to resolve. It would be presumed that sony would not wish to repeat this mistake, so a less experience studio like Jetpack is a strange decision.
That having been said, I for one will be excited to play God of War when it launches on PC early next year. The PS4 has a bit of a bad habit of sounding like a Jet engine and being able to play a game without being taken out of the experience by heathrow airport behind my tv is much appreciated.
