Ken Levine is a name you may not know, but you have certainly either played a game he worked on, or that he inspired. Best known for his work on the Bioshock series, which itself is currently languishing in a bit of a development hell, Ken also worked on the Seminal System shock series that went on to pioneer the Immersive sim genre, along with its more stealthy counterpart in Thief: the Dark project, which would serve as major inspiration for games such as dishonored.

After Irrational games dissolved in 2014, Levine Founded Ghost story games, who then promised to release a new game by 2017. Needless to say, that didnt happen. The game was stated to be smaller in scale to Levine’s previous work, however it borrowed parts from earlier games he had worked on.

Ambition is probably the operative work her, with numerous ghost story employees saying the game has been rebooted and reworked several times over the last few years, and that it will probably not see the light of day for a few years yet. Some employees have anonymously stated the repetition of adhering to Leveins Ideas only to scrap them shortly down the line has been making development unbearable.

As to why 2K games, the publisher that signed a 15 year deal with Levine’s studio, doesn’t step in is unknown. Jason Schreier of Kotaku suggests it may be due to 2K adopting a Lacks attitude towards levine because they respect his status as an  auteur in the Medium. However, given how 2K are known to have rushed their recent NBA titles, this doesn’t seem Likely.

With rumors of a bioshock 4 being in the works, it remains to be seen which game comes first, Ken levines or Bioshock 4.

Recently, modern sport games have been plagued with a micro-transaction epidemic. The FIFA franchise has come under constant criticism for ‘promoting gambling’ with their packs, as has the NBA 2K gaming series. It seems that WWE 2K22 is also no exception.

However, whilst the game does appear to include micro-transactions, EA have reported that they won’t be too intrusive to the overall experience. Basically, it means that it won’t come under the criticism of being a ‘Pay-to-win’ feature. Obviously, fans will have to wait and see how exactly truthful that statement is.

WWE 2K22 micro-transactions will be reportedly only be available in the MyFaction mode. This is the single player experience in which players create their own roster of wrestlers to compete in weekly events. The developers went on to say that all the items that can be purchased will also be obtainable using in-game currency.

Fans Worry About WWE 2K22 Micro-Transactions

In comparison with other games micro-transactions, WWE 2K22’s doesn’t seem too bad to be honest. Despite this, we will not actually know the final result, so must withhold judgement on that matter. Whilst it certainly is possible they won’t have a major effect, many fans are worried it could restrict the MyFACTION mode. Let’s just wait to see how it’s all implemented.

When exactly will this be though? It seems like fans will get to see their first taste of these micro-transactions in January. This will coincide with the next big WWE 2K22 news update as well as the next Royal Rumble event. Adversely, even if we don’t get treated to the games full details, we won’t have to wait much longer anyway. The WWE 2K22 release date is supposedly March 2022, so we’ll be getting our first genuine experience then it seems.

After the WWE 2K20 backlash, it appears Visual Concepts is doing everything in its power to try avoid a similar situation. As such, we expect them to not be heavily reliant on these micro-transactions as that will automatically have fans against them once more. Additionally, the developer has announced a variety of fan-pleasing features which will hope to change the game for the better. In particular, we cannot wait to see the return of the General Manager mode. An absolute classic in previous iterations, we hope it’s going to come back better than ever.

It’s also possible to create an all-star team filled with the best players in the game. Other modes include online multiplayer and a 3v3 Blacktop mode.

There’s also an in-depth career mode, enabling you to create a pro in the style of choice, to then build him from amateur status to NBA All-star status. The pro will also be fully customizable from the floor up the court position, similar to Fifa and other console titles that allow you to do this. The gap between console gaming and mobile is diminishing year by year, and who knows where it’ll be ten years down the line? It’s going to be exciting, that’s for sure. NBA 2K22 is officially releasing this week, and here is everything you need to know, including what time the game is set to release around the world.

The official release date on all platforms is Friday, September 10th, 2021. The release time may vary depending on the platform. The official release times for PC, Xbox and PlayStation are as follows:

According to the official Microsoft Store Page for NBA 2K22, players can expect the game to release on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S at MIDNIGHT in their local region.

PlayStation Store

The same goes for those looking to play NBA 2K22 on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, as it appears that the game will release at MIDNIGHT in your local region. That’s according to the official PlayStation Store Page for NBA 2K22 anyway.

Steam

An official release time for NBA 2K22 on Steam hasn’t been revealed just yet. But it is not uncommon for new Steam titles to release at 10AM PT / 6PM BST.

The New Marvel XCOM game won’t be featuring your favourite MCU characters but will exist in the world

It has been announced by journalist Jeff Grubb during a Giant Bomb Livestream that the developers Firaxis will not include any MCU characters in the Marvel XCOM project but will allow players to create their own instead.

He also states the title for the unannounced project could be released at Gamescom later this month.

So the question is if there won’t be any Marvel characters involved, how is it still classified as a Marvel title?

Grubb confirmed that while it’s not going to have any existing MCU characters, the XCOM project will be set in the wider universe and will be focusing on the supernatural elements in the Marvel universe.

Grubb goes onto say that he doesn’t think that means characters necessarily like Blade, but there will be vampires in it, and he doesn’t know if it means mystical characters either, but players can expect that type with the enemies they end up fighting.

Yet the most exciting aspect is that players will create their very own superheroes and potentially even customizable teams, similar to how players can customise them in their own teams like in other XCOM titles.

Furthermore, publishers 2K stated it would be announcing a new franchise later this month and according to Grubb, this new Marvel XCOM game doesn’t take place in any linear franchises so it is considered a new property in that regard, thus being an original, despite taking place in a well-established universe.

I do think that the character that you’re playing will be a customisable superhero, or at least the team might be customisable, so it’s still going to have XCOM in that way, but that’s why it’s not going to be taking place in any existing lineage of franchises. So I guess they might consider this a new property. – Jeff Grubb.

2K and Firaxis have multiple unannounced projects lined up, and is planning to announce a new franchise later this month, but could this be what they were hinting at? It sure is a possibility.

The post XCOM: New Marvel Title Won’t Feature MCU Characters But Customisable Ones Instead first appeared on Get2Gaming.

2K Games confirmed they will be releasing details of their new franchise that will be released at the end of the current fiscal year.

2K Games confirmed the news at its parent company Take Two‘s 2022 Q1 earnings results call that took place on Monday.

The new franchise can be expected to release before March 31 2022.

2K’s New Franchise

Sadly there aren’t many details to be revealed as of yet but Two Take’s president, Karl Slatoff, confirmed: “2K will unveil details of another exciting new franchise planned for launch during this fiscal year”.

There’s a lot of speculation going around that this new game could be developed by Firaxis, the developers of Civilisation and XCOM, who have a history of publishing their games under 2K Games. It is said the developer has several games to announce later this year, one reportedly being a new Marvel game, however, this has yet to be officially confirmed.

The new franchise could be announced at Gamescom 2021, which has been confirmed to be all online again this year and will take place between August 25-27.

Take-Two also said it had delayed the launch of its two immersive core titles to later in the current fiscal year than originally planned. The company intended to release 21 games this year, including a new franchise from Borderlands developer Gearbox.

Arsenal’s legendary striker Thierry Henry, has traded from shooting into a goal, to shooting into a hoop in the latest NBA 2K17 game.

Thierry Henry is globally know for scoring lots of goals and he even won a World Cup while he was at it. The legendary striker has since retired from playing but is still heavily involved in football. Henry is currently a pundit for Sky Sports and the assistant coach for Belgium’s national side.

Bizarrely, 2K have placed Henry in their upcoming title, NBA 2K17. Henry joins other celebrities in the game, actor Michael B. Jordan and comedian Hannibal Buress.

Henry will mainly be a court-side celebrity but he will be playable in Blacktop mode which is a street basketball game.

NBA 2K17 will release September 16 on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3 and PC.

Sid Meier’s Starships

The new interstellar strategy game from Firaxis has been revealed!

Coming to the PC, iPad and Mac early this year is the turn-based strategy game, Sid Meier’s Starships, which was announced by Firaxis & 2K. No pricing was announced though, nor if an android version will be made available. In the game, you’ll be able to control a fleet of starships as you journey through the galaxy to complete missions, protect planets and their inhabitants, and build a planetary federation.

2K also adds that the missions you’ll take on have their very own unique maps, featuring “dynamically generated tactical combat” that should boost the entire game’s replayability. You’ll also be challenged to expand your federation’s reach and influence, as you journey through the stars. If this isn’t enough, you can take part in turn-based combat using a host of customisable ships.

“When designing Starships, I was intrigued by the idea of exploring the next chapter in the story of Civilization: Beyond Earth,” Meier has said. “What happens after we colonize our new home and eventually build starships to take to the stars? What has become of our long-lost brothers and sisters from the planet Earth?”. “My goal was to create an experience that focuses on starship design and combat within a universe filled with interstellar adventure, diplomacy, and exploration.”

2K has also teased that Beyond Earth and Starships will feature cross-connectivity for people who own both games. This integration will “enhance and expand upon both game experiences.”, the developer has said. Starships was developed by Meier and a small team at Firaxis.

 Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
Two investigative gamers find separate loot caves offering bounty and XP in the 2K game!

The game has only been out a couple of days in America and already we have ourselves a discovery!

The detection of these loot caves are inspired by the various loot caves exploits found in Activision’s similarly styled RPG-shooter Destiny. 

A YouTuber, who goes my the name of “Deathmule”, has discovered a loot cave which can be found on the mission “Let’s Build a Robot Army”.One challenge in particular is to set up turrets to mow down an constant spawning gang of enemies yet, if players dispatch these enemies before the turrets do, they are rewarded with a trove of dropped riches.

Once the mission ends, according to Kotaku, the cave will become inaccessible. This means that the players will have to keep quitting the mission in order to keep the exploit open. 

The Second loot cave was found by a YouTuber who goes by the name of “JHFLEETING” , who discovered the cave later on in the game in the mission “Guardian Hunter”. The challenge here is to capture a guardian fire wraith and, if the player is killed instead, the game re-spawns them. Players can boost their experience badass rank through this because of the speed that they re-spawn at.

“Repetition and a lackluster story are its biggest shortcomings, but Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is different enough to separate itself from the shadows of its older siblings,” wrote the game’s critic Cameron Woolsey.
