Assassin’s Creed Origins is coming to Xbox Game Pass. According to Community lead at Xbox Game Pass, Megan Spurr, Ubisoft are bringing several games to the library. These games include Assassin’s Creed Origins and For Honor: Marching Fire Edition. For Honor will be available on PC via the Ubisoft Connect app, whilst Assassin’s Creed Origins will be available on console, cloud and PC as well.

The game is set to arrive in the library within the “next two months” but, as of yet, no specific date has been given.

Ubisoft already has some games on the Xbox Game Pass, including Rainbow Six: Extraction, but Origins will be the first of the Assassin’s Creed series to join the library. For Honor was also already on the Game Pass but this means the Marching Fire Edition will be a free update for those who already have it.

Next-Gen Updates for the Assassin’s Creed Series

Last December, Ubisoft tweeted that they wanted to introduce 60fps support for 2017’s Assassin’s Creed Origins, making it available for a next-gen release on Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5. In August last year, they released a 60fps version of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – originally released in 2018 – that was able to run on these two consoles when using backwards compatibility.

The Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship?

Ubisoft seem to be becoming more open to the Xbox console. In January they announced that they would be bringing their Ubisoft Plus subscription service to Xbox, although it will remain a separate subscription from Games Pass. Previously, Ubisoft Plus only included PC compatibility. That same month, they put Rainbow Six: Extraction on Xbox Games Pass the same day it was released. Combined with the desire to update their games to run on the next-gen Xbox, these decisions make it seem Ubisoft want to tap into the Xbox market.

Other games to arrive on the Xbox Game Pass include 7 Days to Die and Bugsnax. These games look set to arrive in the library next week. You can see the full list of arrivals and dates on the Xbox blog here. Available today on Xbox Games Pass are F1 2021 and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered. Both these games are supplied by the EA Play subscription after EA joined the Xbox Games Pass, allowing players to access this membership at no extra cost. Whereas, Ubisoft’s Plus subscription will remain separate.

It marks a good week for Assassin’s Creed fans then, after Ubisoft also released a new update for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has received the Mastery Challenge Pack 2. Released on Tuesday 19th April, the update is free for players on all platforms. Watch the trailer below.

Ubisoft’s Update 1.5.1 features nearly 200 bug fixes or improvements to both Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and the Dawn of Ragnarok edition. These focus mainly on combat, quests, the UI or HUD, and general gameplay. You can read the list here.

Mastery Challenges 2: Electric Boogaloo

However, the main focus is the update to the Mastery Challenge. Mastery Challenge was originally released last year and included a new storyline and a trial system offering challenges and rewards. The new update brings a new story to the pack, along with 3 more shrines to access the trials and rewards in the game. The trials culminate in a boss fight that combines elements from each of the trials. The rewards include the “Valkyrie Armor set, all-new weapons, a tattoo set, and new settlement cosmetics.”

Ostara Returns

Mastery Challenge Pack 2 also brings back the Ostara festival to Ravensthorpe. The Ostara festival runs for a limited time, from April 21st to May 12th. Last year, the Ostara festival included a variety of combat and non-combat activities and it looks as though this year’s will follow the same theme. Activities include an egg-hunt, archery contests, drinking contests and brawling. Players can take part in these festivities both day and night and earn tokens to win the same prizes as last year. These prizes are mainly settlement decorations or cosmetics. You can read more about the festival here.

In the real world, Ostara is a pagan festival to mark the Spring equinox that usually takes place in March. However, perhaps Ubisoft are focusing on the Easter season instead this year.

Updates Continuing Through Spring Season

In addition to this update, Ubisoft also supplied a roadmap for the Spring season. Update 1.5.2 is expected in May and a new Armoury feature is also set to join. The Armory is a new building which can be built in Ravensthorpe that allows you to customize and display your favorite gear sets. The building accommodates up to five loadouts of weapons, armour, and skills. Once they are saved, players can access these loadouts from anywhere in the game.

Both the Mastery Challenges and the Ostara festival are free for players, but there is a prerequisite for each. In order to play the Mastery Challenges, Ubisoft states: “Players must be at least Power Level 221, have completed the Uninvited Guests main quest after reporting on Grantebridgescire and Ledecestrescire, and have completed the narrative quest from Mastery Challenge Pack 1.” Similarly, to take part in the Ostara festival, “players must reach England and complete one of the first two narrative arcs (Grantebridgescire or Ledecestrescire) and have a settlement at Level 2.”

Finally, Ubisoft also announced that Assassin’s Creed Origins is coming to Xbox Game Pass.

I’m back in black baby! Which is to say, I’m reporting on recent statements from Overwatch 2 staff regarding how Bobby Kotick contributed to slowing down development.

In the immortal words of Shaun Andjen, “I may not know much about fine art, but I do know how to kick a man when he’s down“.

Tracy Kennedy (Professional Rhyming Name-Haver), a producer on Overwatch 1&2, opened up recently regarding issues developers were facing, largely caused by Bobby Kotick (Professional Trash-Mammal). So, let’s unpack this, shall we?

Monsieur Kotique would reportedly repeatedly ‘shove “random projects for OW1″‘ for the devs working on Overwatch 2. This contributed to resources being spread thinner than marmite on unbuttered rivita.

Kennedy also alleged the team had to work overtime to keep up with Kocktick’s demands, resulting in various projects getting scraped in service of keeping the content train running for Overwatch 1.

Tracy Kennedy brought up these claims in response to a recent Bobby Kotick interview, wherein he claimed the Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 delays were major reasons for his leave… I don’t think Bobby’s lying here, maybe he magically realized that his lack of business skills are only matched by his lack of basic human decency.

Feel free to have a butcher’s at Tracy’s tweet if you’re in the mood for putting another anti-Kotick zinger on the spit.

Tracy Kennedy’s statements (as far as I’m aware) haven’t been backed up or denied by other Activision Blizzard staff (ex or otherwise). But let’s not mince words, if bossman says what the bossman wants, then bossman’s wants what’s driving the bossman’s business down, see?

I’ll stop doing that when it stops being funny to read those sections in a 1920s-style radio commentator voice! And on a vaguely-related note, I was today years old when I found out Jimmy Stewart took part in a celebrity roast of Dean Martin! Guess I know what I’ll be up to on my off-hours. Ubisoft reveals plan to stage an “immersive symphonic concert to celebrate the series’ 15th anniversary.

In partnership with Overlook Events, the concert features a full choir and orchestra supported by lighting, video and sound effects. The world premiere of the anniversary Assassin’s Creed Syphonic Adventure will take place at the Grand Rex Theater in Paris on October 29, 2022. Following this a world tour is scheduled to begin in early 2023.

The “Assassin’s Creed Symphonic Adventure features a full orchestra and choir in a unique and immersive concert experience,” Ubisoft states, and “covers the musical journey of Assassin’s Creed from its ancient origins through to modern-day Animus settings.”

With the franchise’s debut back in 2007 the series has grown to become the second largest profit generating game in the company’s history, with the newest addition Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla generating a greater amount in its launch week than any other game in the series.

Not long after the announcement of Assassin’s Creed getting a crossover on the way between Odyssey and Valhalla (which I contend is only the SECOND best game with ‘VA-11 Hall A’ in the name), iBhard (AKA Ubisoft) have announced Odyssey will be free to players for a limited time only!

The offer applies to Xbox One, PS4, PC and Google Stadia, and runs from December 16th, 2:30 PM to December 21st, 12:30 AM local time. You can pre-load the game before it goes officially live.

So, for any potential non-gamers reading these (shocking concept to grasp, I know), why may you want to get stuck in to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? Let’s unpack that!

A Must-Have for Edutainment Explordinaires! The Assassin’s Creed games are famous for mashing up bits and pieces of historical fiction with their stories, while also having a surprising amount of educational value. Players often collect various artifacts with descriptions accurate to real-world versions of them. And if your hand-eye coordination isn’t the best out there, Assassin’s Creed Origins (psst! which we sell alongside Valhalla and others!) has a virtual museum mode that takes out all the in-game dangers and gives you a tour guide of all the true-to-life bits and bobs in the game.

Choose Your Story: Odyssey sees you choose one of two characters to play as, Alexios or Kassandra. After that, you can make different choices at in-game story moments to change the effects of what happens, how it happens and all that butterfly effect mumbo-jumbo from Until Dawn!

It’s no Undertale or Persona 5 in the story department, but at least it’s pretty-looking and has decent gameplay. Very much a ‘talk less, smile more‘ kinda game at the best of times. Ain’t that right Hamilton?

COMRADE PLOT TWIST!? Now I’m going to bite the hand that feeds me by going into potential reasons the game may NOT be for you!

For starters, Ubisoft has not done its best in workplace relations, to put it mildly. A series of reports came out last year detailing Ubisoft’s toxic workplace conditions, including a series of sexual assault and harassment allegations. As a result, many creatives from Ubisoft have left the company after completion of different projects, including Dan Hay, of Far Cry fame. I bring this up because Jim-Stephanie Sterling (whom’st we stan) brought up that some people may not want to purchase certain games knowing they were made in unethical conditions, so that’s a path of logic my leftist-ass can get behind.

And back to the game itself, it’s pretty standard fare for most AAA titles. Based on my limited experience with the game (at a convention for Retro games of all places, which you can read about here), it’s nice… Not thrilling, but nice (a cheeky reference for all 2 of people I know who’ve seen History of The World). If you want a better sword-and-sandal style action experience, you may have a better time with Greak or Blasphemous, which, shocking coincidence, we also happen to have!

With a storyline that spans centuries, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise frequently sees some of its protagonists cross paths with one another. For example, protagonist Shay Cormac met Adéwalé from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Haytham Kenway from Assassin’s Creed III in Assassin’s Creed Rogue. However, those characters were all active during similar periods.  Ubisoft is now taking a different approach though.

Assassin’s Creed Timelines Crossover

The publisher is adding new missions to Odyssey and Valhalla as part of the franchise’s first crossover event, which will pit characters Kassandra and Eivor against one other. What does an ancient Greek have to do with England in the ninth century? We don’t know, but the Animus is probably involved, and the event could be a preview of what to anticipate from the franchise’s rumoured online arrival.

“Those Who Are Treasured,” the first tale, will be set in Odyssey, while “A Fated Encounter,” the second, will be set in Valhalla. Both will be accessible on December 14th, when the 1.4.1 and 1.5.6 title updates for their respective titles go live. You can upgrade your character’s equipment by finishing the stories.

Ubisoft also revealed Dawn of Ragnarök, the newest DLC for Valhalla, on Monday. The expansion is being promoted as the publisher’s most ambitious Assassin’s Creed dlc yet. It will add about 35 hours of playtime to the game, allowing players to learn more about Eivor’s connection to Odin. The DLC will be released on March 10th, 2022, according to Ubisoft.

Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection is a collection comprised of graphically enhanced versions of Assassin’s Creed games featuring Ezio Auditore da Firenze, which came out in 2016 for PS4 and Xbox One. It was developed and published by Ubisoft and features Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, along with all the single-player DLCs that were released for those titles and two bonus short films that explain Ezio’s back story.

Ezio is one of the franchise’s most popular protagonists, so this rumour will excite the likes of many, but how true could it possibly be?

The rumour comes from Twitter user DirectFeedGames, who is notoriously known for having a solid track record when it comes to leaks and reports, and they sound very certain it is going to happen, thanks to the response to a tweet they gave.

No better time to play the Iceborne expansion, thanks to these two collabs leaving shortly

Crossover events in video games are always guaranteed fun, and there’s been plenty out this year thanks to games like Fortnite always offering different events all year round, and the Monster Hunter franchise is no exception. Yet crossover events are only for a limited time and eventually have to leave the game.

Capcom sent out a reminder yesterday that two crossover events for its Monster Hunter World game will be leaving the game at the end of the week, so if you have not already, you better get playing the Assassin’s Creed and Monster Hunter movie collaboration event quests before time runs out.

Iceborne Crossover Events

Capcom sent two reminders out yesterday that the two collabs, Assassin’s Creed and Monster Hunter movie collaboration event quests, will be removed from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on December 3. The developer originally announced this on November 5 but wanted to give fans a reminder that they do not have long before all the exclusives leave the expansion.

The Assassin’s Creed Collaboration Event was released in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on December 4, 2020. The event quest “SDF: Silent, Deadly, and Fierce” was added and is an 8-star quest level requiring HR14 or higher to participate. The player gets pitted in this event against an Odogaron, Deviljho, and finally a Lunastra. Once completed, the player is rewarded with Senu’s Feather, which is required to craft the Assassin’s Hood Mantle and the Bayek Layered Armour. The Assassin’s Hood Mantle increases movement speed and allows the player to hide quicker. If you have already received the armour, you will still be able to use it after the event leaves the game.

The Monster Hunter movie collaboration was released in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne at the same time, on December 4, 2020. It was a year-long deal with the movie production company that saw players live out Artemis’ (voiced by Milla Jovovich) return to the fantastic lands of Monster Hunter World. To access it, players would need to be ranked MR1 or higher. Once the quests are completed, the player will be rewarded with Artemis’s Notebook, which is required for crafting the Artemis layered armour. Logging in during the event will also award players with 30 Ancient Potions, 30 Dust of Life, 10 Golden Eggs, 3 True Armor Spheres, and 1 Earplug Jewel+4.

The post Monster Hunter World: Two Collaboration Events Will be Leaving in December first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Xbox is 20 years old today, and so a big celebration event is set, with lots of big announcements on their way. One area of focus that is rumored is in regards to older Xbox System games. The latest evidence arround this revolves around the strange updates that a dozen or so Xbox 360 games seemingly received over night.

Now, for one thing, I still feel weird calling the 360 a “retro” console. It still feels current to me and I still use a 360 controller with my PC.

In any case, the games updated include “Fable Anniversary”, “Fallout New Vegas”, “Assassin’s Creed”, “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion”, “Dead Space”, “Dragon Age: Origins” and many more. What Precisely these updates are has yet to be determined. All that we know right now is that these updates exist, as there is no indication that they have activated in game as of yet.

While nothing is certain right now, Speculation has suggested that the 20th anniversary may be the reveal and official release of these updates, and also what they do. Obviously, these are games on a decade old system, so new content is highly unlikely, however there is an opportunity here to release some optimization patches for them to work better with newer systems, like Xbox Series X/S or even Xbox One.

Optimizations are definitely not a certainty, but what else it could be is really unclear. Especially considering that most of the games listed are from Big publishers. These are all titles that would make sense for big publishers to want to have on Modern Platforms.

The Game updates join a Growing list of rumors ahead of the anniversary celebration. Another Example is the appearance of games for the Original Xbox console on Xbox Marketplace, some returning after being taken down and some being listed for the first time.

The biggest rumor however is in regards to the multiplayer of halo infinite, which rumors say could launch ahead of the games main release date as part of the celebrations.

Assassin’s Creed is without a doubt one of Ubisoft’s most renowned franchises.  The most recent entry in the series – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, stands out particularly amongst them due to its improved combat mechanics, compelling storyline and of course its expansive depiction of Norse mythology.

The Oskoreia Festival, commonly known as the Wild Hunt Festival, has been anticipated by fans of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla since dataminers discovered proof of it in September 2021. This event appears to be inspired by the Wild Hunt, a northern European folklore theme prevalent in many cultures. Oskoereia is also the Norwegian name for the Wild Hunt.

Valhalla continues to shine brightly as the Oskoreia Season Free Update approaches. This update includes the limited-time event as well as a new free gaming activity. All of which are highlighted in a new  video.

What’s Featured in the Valhalla Update

During the trailer, players learn that the gods will journey to Midgard to hunt. Their prey will be composed of both monsters and mankind, like the real-life Wild Hunt. Eivor and his companions appear to be taking part in this festival to demonstrate that they are not easy prey by putting themselves through numerous challenges. A lot of effort has clearly gone into this update since it was prominently featured within Valhalla’s content roadmap.

Eivor must find a way to pay respect the dead, or else they will haunt the Vikings during this time-limited event between November 11th and December 2nd. We see Eivor battle a variety of foes including spectral enemies of unknown origin, and also a werewolf. There will be a variety of new activities and rewards for players in the update too. Eivor and their Raven are both decked out with some new bone accessories. We also see Eivor wielding Hel’s scythe.

The Tombs of the Fallen free gaming activity will be included in the same update. This will see Eivor delving deep into ancient ruins and solving puzzles. Eivor is shown navigating a range of platforming difficulties.. These tombs look to be packed with bats, snow, and a wide variety of unique environmental features and traps. It’s unclear what Tombs of the Fallen’s main narrative will involve, but it offers a new challenge regardless.
