Call of Duty: Vanguard‘s multiplayer experience is free for all players to access for a week!

Activision has opened up access for players on all platforms to try the latest Call of Duty title Vanguard‘s multiplayer game mode for a week starting NOW!!! through to the 24th May. Alongside this promotion, they have dropped a brand new multiplayer map Mayhem which is set in a 1950s Monster set. This all coincides with the juggernaut that is Warzone, the event currently ongoing is Operation Monarch unleashing King Kong and Godzilla onto the mammoth battle royale map Caldera.

This is not the first and won’t be the last time Activision will give free access to Vanguard this year with a two week long free period that already happened in April. Vanguard has not been a success by any means, with poor reception from players, a decrease in sales by 40% in comparison to the previous title Black Ops Cold War and a pure lack of excitement for another World War II shooter. Despite still being one of the best selling games of 2021, Call of Duty: Vanguard posted the worst franchise launch since 2007 for the FPS series in some regions, the series had been on an upwards trajectory with the huge release of 2019’s Modern Warfare, followed by the battle royale Warzone. However, Vanguard appears to have not “clicked” in terms of sales compared to other recent launches. So it is understandable that Activision are starting to push towards promoting the next release in the Call of Duty series Modern Warfare 2 with possible trailers for the upcoming game appearing very soon, want to know more about it read one of our other articles about Modern Warfare 2 here!

Battlefield 2042 Season 1 is currently set for release in early June.

DICE‘s troubled title Battlefield 2042 finally has a release date for it’s battle pass-style upcoming Season 1 update. Early June is the time but it can’t ever be set in stone with the quite frankly horrible start to Battlefield’s life cycle. Even before release this game has been in a downward spiral, with the open beta last summer that gave everyone access to try the game early being pretty much unplayable to multiple delays to the initial release date of the game Battlefield has taken many many hits but DICE and EA are trying to turn this around with multiple hotfixes and patches to build up to the release of Season 1.

Season 1 is DICE and EA‘s attempt to copy the unbelievable success of Fortnite and Call of Duty Warzone‘s battle pass, a live service with plenty of features and unlockables for gamers to earn whilst playing with friends and against others in online competitive modes. Battlefield 2042 has taken such a reputation hit over the last 6 months with players leaving in droves with the PC edition of the game dropping below 1,000 concurrent players in April, a truly shocking amount from such a popular run of titles, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 1, 4 and 5 all being massive successes for DICE and their publisher EA.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson was quoted last week.

This is one of the great franchises of our industry, built by one of the great teams in the industry, and our expectations are it’s going to continue to grow and be a really important part of our portfolio for many, many years to come.

This comes after many fans suggesting that EA and DICE have given up the crumbling franchise after flagship Halo Infinite was released with fans loving the newest addition to the long running franchise. Andrew Wilson had denied claims that Halo Infinite made Battlefields issues look more prominent after Halo’s impromptu release of a free multiplayer for all Xbox players.

Through all the stumbles EA are hell bent on sticking with Battlefield 2042 with multiple quality of life updates and listening to fans requests to add features that were expected such as a dynamic leaderboard to check on your stats mid-game(something that should’ve been featured since release). So does the future finally look bright for Battlefield 2042.

The post Battlefield 2042 Season 1 set for release after delays! first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Activision’s biggest franchise is already garnering hype as they return to the Modern Warfare series with the supposed date for their trailer, alpha test and possible release date being leaked!

Well, it’s the time of year again! the Call of Duty hype train arrives with many ready for a big improvement after the failures of the two previous titles, Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard. As many have fallen out of favour with the FPS genre Activision and Infinity Ward are hoping to turn their fortunes around with the sequel to the highly successful Modern Warfare (released in 2019).

On April 28th, Infinity Ward revealed to the world the logo for the upcoming title and had fans wanting more information.

They’re reports suggesting that some snippets and teasers of the game could be revealed as soon as the 2nd June, this has surprised many because fans thought they would expect to wait until Summer Game Fest 2022 which starts the following week (10th June) for all the information. Following the teasers a suspected official reveal trailer will arrive on the 8th June with huge details on the games campaign being revealed at the Summer Game Fest. Great news for fans as we are not that far away from news coming our way.

As we power through the summer of games being revealed and release dates being pushed back, game developers will need you to turn that console on and test their games out for them with public Alpha and Beta tests. The Call of Duty Franchise have always had tests to make sure their game is full functioning before release, rumours are that a possible Alpha test for Modern Warfare 2 could be dropping mid-August. For the last 5 years PlayStation have had a contract with Activision where the platform will get new and exclusive content before the competitors and that will continue up until 2023, so if you are on the PlayStation 5 you could get your hands on Modern Warfare 2 before anyone else. But for Xbox gamers don’t be down because you will also get your hands on the tests possibly weeks after Sony players and with Microsoft’s gigantic acquisition of Activision for $68 million, Call of Duty’s exclusivity contract will probably be on the Xbox platform after 2023.

The reported release date for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is October 2022.

No news if Infinity Ward will continue to release their games on the old generation consoles with Xbox One and PS4 players increasingly worried on the silence from Activision’s side of things. Lastly, the big blockbuster game mode Warzone that kept us all enthralled through the last couple of years could be getting a sequel following the games release. The latest rumour is that Warzone 2 could be releasing late 2022 or most likely early 2023.

A bird in the coal Mines

Raven software is a name you might not know, but that never the less is a studio that created some of the biggest games in the PC space post doom, and whose history is maybe one of the saddest stories in this industry. Raven made good games. For a time they would take the latest engine Extradimensional Hyperbrain Meme John Carmack had created and make a game better than the guys at ID software did. With the Wolfenstein 3D engine they made Shadowcaster, with the Doom Engine they made Heretic and Hexen, With the Quake Engine they made Mageslayer and heretic 2. With the doom 3 Engine they made Quake 4 and Wolfenstein(2009). Even when they weren’t working with ID-tech they made some genuine classics, like Star wars Jedi knight II, which in my opinion was the best version of light-saber combat ever.

Then Activision showed up.

Ravens last stand alone game was singularity. The project took a long time to develop, and was even briefly canceled at one time. The final game is far less ambitious than was probably originally intended, but overall it still came out OK. unfortunately it did not sell well. Following Singularities release, Raven would be put onto working on the DLC for the Call of Duty games by activision, eventually ending up as the lead dev on the games Battle royal mode warzone. But even then, these where good devs, who made good games that maybe didnt do so well but they had spark man. If you haven’t played it, track down a copy of Singularity, or of Quake 4, or of heretic. Because raven deserves to be talked about more.

The Phoenix?

Things got worse last year, when activision fired a number of members of the QA department who had previously been promised pay rises. Following the other recent activision blizzard controversies, Raven Software staff went on strike and, as of the 21st, gathered enough signatures to unionize. From then, Activision had 4 days to recognise the union. Now, to be completely fair to activision, they were just acquired by Microsoft so there is probably a lot on their minds regarding that, but as of now, activision has not voluntarily recognized the Game Workers Alliance, the union that Raven QA staff have formed.

With the recognition deadline passed, Raven employees will now move forward with plans to file for a union election through the National Labor Relations Board, as confirmed though a series of tweets.

Recently, Studio Head Brian Raffel announced an organizational change that would dissolve the QA team and transfer those workers to other departments arround the studio. Given the announcements timing and its focus on the QA department this has been perceived as an attack against the union, with the CWA commenting on this on twitter.

This announcement, which came three days after Raven QA workers publicly requested recognition of their union – @WeAreGWA (CWA) – is nothing more than a tactic to thwart Raven QA workers who are exercising their right to organize.

The current mood

As of Right now, Activision Blizzard Employees have the supermajority of votes in favor of unionizing, which is unsurprising given the last year of controversy surrounding the studio. They are in the Process of bringing their case to the NLRB. however this process can be protracted, which would give more leverage to leadership of activision blizzard.

Cornell professor of labor and employment law Risa Lieberwitz told The Washington Post that the structural changes shouldn’t interrupt the unionization process, but added that the timing “raises the question of whether [Activision Blizzard] are retaliating against the QA employees because of their union activities.”

Bad news Warzone fans, it seems that you’re going to have wait that bit extra for the new season. This is because Activision intend to get rid of any bugs which may hinder the playing experience. Obviously, this is probably for the best as we’d rather a seamless gaming experience than one ridden with issues. However, it does inevitably come as a bit of a disappointment too.

If these problems were just little things which we could look over, I’m sure they would’ve released the game as planned. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. Some of the issues are quite complicated, including a crash which takes place when the home button is pressed too many times on the Xbox. Similarly, it looks like the invisible skins have made a comeback, causing chaos throughout the community once more.

As this will take some time to fix, the new launch date will instead now be February 14. It looks like some of us are going to have a difficult time persuading the other half that the latest Warzone update is more important than Valentines Day. Good luck with that one everyone, you’re going to need it.

Activision Apologise To Warzone Fans Amidst Exciting Time For Company

As Activision wait for their exciting takeover by Microsoft to happen, it looks like they’re willing to admit their mistakes in this instance.

“We feel your frustrations and hear you loud and clear. To date, we’ve deployed a number of updates, but more needs to be done,” the post explained.

“We will use this additional development time to deliver updates, including optimizations to gameplay, game balancing (including weapon and equipment balancing), to fix game stability and bugs, and to ensure an overall level of polish to improve the experience for players across Vanguard, Warzone Pacific, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare.”

It should be noted that the delay could also have something to do with the developers walkout and strike because of harassment issues within the company. Hopefully, the next takeover will provide the much needed change the company needs. Not only this, but it could change the face of gaming in Warzone forever. The post Warzone Pacific Season 2 Delayed For Bug Fixing first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Rejoice Warzone fans! According to latest reports, the mid-season update for Call of Duty Wazrone Season 1 will see immense improvements to the games performance on console platforms. Just the thing we like to hear.

Unfortunately, Warzone has been known to suffer from various performance issues on PlayStation and Xbox consoles since the launch of its Pacific update and new map, Caldera, over a month ago. This has left many players in the Warzone community feeling very hard done by, as they criticised Raven for not caring enough about the issues.

However, it should be noted that the studio’s work was disrupted by the holiday period as well as some strike action. As a result, it’d be a bit too harsh to outwardly criticise the company in my opinion. It’s clear they’ve had some issues to sort out, so its encouraging we’re finally getting the update.

Ahead of its release, Raven said the update will deliver the first in a series of planned fixes for console performance issues.

“We’d like to provide an update regarding Warzone performance on console platforms,” it tweeted.

“With the mid-season patch tomorrow, we will be shipping initial fixes in order to help alleviate a number of different issues encountered on both Xbox and PlayStation. These fixes are the first in a series and will not address all concerns at once,” Raven continued.

“We appreciate your patience as we work on providing everyone with a fun, uninterrupted time in Caldera.”

In many ways, crossplay is a great thing: it enables us to play with friends who don’t share the same platform as us. It was initially very highly requested and has been backed by Microsoft for years. However, Xbox gamers are now looking for a way to opt-out of crossplay.

This is due to popular shooter games like Halo Infinite and Call of Duty dealing with cheaters in the competitive space. Free-to-play titles suffer greatly, as hackers can just create another account following a ban. While there’s an option to disable crossplay in Call of Duty: Warzone, if you try to load into a playlist on Xbox it will force you to re-enable it. On PlayStation, however, you can dismiss the prompt and continue to the playlist with crossplay still disabled. Warzone players on Xbox have been complaining about this forced crossplay for over a year, through comments, YouTube videos, forum discussions, and more.

Cheaters or no cheaters, though, shooters are easier to play with a mouse. But I, like many gamers, find playing with a controller to be a more fun experience. Plenty of console gamers don’t own a PC fit for gaming, either. There’s no need to force Xbox gamers to compete with those using a mouse when the player pool is plentiful either way. This would provide a better experience since you could choose to game only with people who have equal advantages to you.

I really hope Microsoft get around to fixing this, or they could be losing some of their Xbox player base on those titles.

The post Xbox players are fed up with forced crossplay with PC gamers first appeared on Get2Gaming.

With the final part of the last season of Attack on Titan generating tons of hype, Activision was quick to get in on the action.

A bundle launching January 10th, including ten items inspired by the hit anime series, Attack on Titan. The highlight of the bundle is a Survey Corps uniform, inspired by the icon himself, Levi Ackerman.

Additionally included will be three weapon blueprints (including the Titan Piercer blade) and a charm, sticker, emblem, finishing move and highlight material.

Other upcoming season updates include a new character (Isabella Rosario Dulnuan Reyes), her preferred submachine gun, and expansions to both gameplay and items in Vanguard’s Zombies mode. The relevant patches for the new Attack on Titan content will appear roughly a week ahead of time at midnight Eastern time on January 12th for Vanguard and January 13th for Warzone.

Though some might find the combination a little strange, given the huge difference in style, if you’re a fan of the anime, it might be nice to have your own series souvenir.

The post Attack on Titan bundle coming to Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Since Call of Duties Battle royal, Warzone, launched in march of 2020, players have been waiting to see a new map enter the game to replace or stand alongside the war-torn Streets of Verdansk. On the 8th of this month, that is finally happening, with the new Caldera map releasing. While this update brings a bunch of new features, some players on consoles are going on specific, until now PC only features, fonts it way to them.

On PC, Call of Duty warzone features an adjustable FOV slider, to allow you to see more or less on your screen as you play. Unfortunately, console players do not have this feature. However, recent details have emerged suggesting this may change in the not too distant future.

Following requests from the warzone Community, a developer has spoken about the possibility of an FOV slider coming to the console versions. The news came in the form of a tweet from Ted Timmins, Warzone’s creative director. In the message, He noted the studio was aware of demand for the feature, and also noted that he typically played on console, and therefore understood the reason for an FOV slider.

Definitely aware of this, especially that I speak as a console player.

Thing is, if I tweet literally anything then it will become a headline which wouldn’t be fair on me or the team. I just hope that these patch notes make it clear; you are being heard, and we are listening.

Unfortunately, this tweet does not confirm that the developers are actually working at implementing this. However Timmins did say the patch notes of the december 8 update will show that the developers are listening to player feedback.

FOV sliders can have an impact on how smoothly games perform, but the benefits from having them almost always outweigh the negatives. Personally I feel cramped playing any game with an FOV under 100. Games like Apex Legends and Halo Infinite have already implemented Sliders on consoles, making warzones’ absence of them more noticeable. Furthermore, Call of Duty Vanguard does feature a slider.

We will soon see if an FOV slider does come to the game.

Warzone fans get ready, a new map is going to be hitting your screens soon. Activision has officially revealed the new area we’re going to be exploring called Caldera. Finally, something different from Verdansk.

According to an image of the map, the Caldera era will begin with ‘Operation Vulcan’ and be set in December 1944. For those unfamiliar with their WW2 history, Operation Vulcan was one of the final ground attacks by the Allied forces against the Italian and German forces in North Africa. Whilst the game most likely won’t incorporate this into the game play, it’s interesting to know what the name could’ve been inspired from.

In addition to this, the image shows off 15 district areas players will be dropping into. Also, there seems to be various points of interest located which could give players early insight into where most of the action will happen. The 15 main zones are Arsenal, Docks, Runway, Ruins, Mines, Peak, Beachhead, Village, Lagoon, Airfield, Fields, Sub Pen, Power Plant, Capital and Resort. Clearly, it looks like they’ll be plenty of room to explore here.

Welcome To Paradise- Warzone Pacific Map First Of Exciting New Content

Who’s excited for this one then? Obviously, this should be everyone in my opinion. Despite the fact we’re having to wait an extra week, we really can’t be more excited to land on the shores of Caldera. This is what the official Call Of Duty Page had to say upon its arrival:

“On December 8, your legendary journey in Warzone Pacific begins with Season One of Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Pacific.”

“With a brand-new map built on learnings from the community, Warzone Pacific marks a new era of pulse-pounding tactical combat on a massive scale. Featuring a dedicated Playlist with new vehicles and Vanguard weapons, Warzone Pacific’s first season kicks off another year of free content, all based in your own grand epic of stamping out the last of the Axis resistance”.

“Welcome to Paradise: the new home for Warzone Pacific known as Caldera”.

So here it is, your first look at the Island itself. We must say, it doesn’t look like it’s going to disappoint.

Major Changes Coming To Caldera Map

Gulag Changes: Gulag winner respawns with the weapons and lethal weapon equipment granted during the Gulag duel.

Loadout and Field Upgrades Changes:

• Dead Silence nerf
• Stopping Power Rounds removal
• Stun Grenades nerf
• Heartbeat Sensors nerf
• Kali Stick and Sai nerf
• Gun-butting (melee) nerf
• Loadout Drop Markers can not be purchased anymore from Buy Stations after the Loadout Drop event occurs
• Lethal Equipment, in its majority, will deal more damage
• Snapshot Grenade effective radius increase
• Stim grans a small movement boost
• Decoy Grenade packs rubber bullets

Gas Masks and Canisters:

• Gas masks will stop less actions, making it easier to put on your masks on or reload while escaping the Circle Collapse.
• You can get protection against Gas Canisters using Gas Masks. This canister is a new two-handed exploding item that releases the same gas found at the edge of the Circle Collapse.

Shallow Water Mechanic:

• Operators are able to walk on shallow waters. Walking on water makes footprints harder to see even to those players that equipped the Tracker perk.
• Crounching in knee-high water grants the Cold Blooded effect.
• Fire-based equiment creates smoke when it hits water.

Contracts and Public Events:

• Supply Drop Contracts
• Big Game Bounty Contracts
• Top Secrect Contracts
• Restocks and Resurgences
• Cash Drops Event
• Weapon Crates
