The Epic Games Store has shared the two titles that will be free to play next week. Since 2020, Epic have been giving out free games to players. Starting 28th April, both Just Die Already and Paradigm will be free to play until 5th May.

Just Die Already and Paradigm

Just Die Already is described as an “old people mayhem sandbox” game. Players must complete challenges in order to earn enough money to claim a comfortable retirement. You can either play singleplayer or as a group of 4 – either as a team or “ripping your friends’ limbs off!”

Paradigm is a “surreal adventure game”, set in a post-apocalyptic fictional Eastern European country. In the game you play as “the handsome mutant, Paradigm, whose past comes back to haunt him in the form of a genetically engineered sloth that vomits candy.”

The two free games available now till April 28th are Amnesia: Rebirth and Riverbond. Amnesia: Rebirth is a singleplayer horror game in which players must piece together their past while trying to escape a fear-feeding creature. Riverbond is a voxel co-op game where players hack and slash their way through “cute but deadly” bosses.

Epic news

Since 2020, Epic have been giving out free games to players. In 2020, they gave away 103 free games and in 2021, they gave away 89. It is part of a continuing trend with Epic Games, whose business model seems driven by making things freely available for players and developers alike.

Last year, Epic acquired Artstation and the Arstation Learning platform was immediately made free for all users. Last month, Epic also acquired Bandcamp – although it remains unclear how this will affect the way Bandcamp operates.

Their Unreal Engine software is also free to use and earlier this month, Epic released Unreal Engine 5 for all users. The new software includes Lumen and Nanite technology that reduces, if not removes, the need for baking lighting or texture maps.

Developers can download Unreal Engine to make games or videos for free. According to the Unreal website: “A 5% royalty is due only if you are distributing an off-the-shelf product that incorporates Unreal Engine code (such as a game) and the lifetime gross revenue from that product exceeds $1 million USD; in this case, the first $1 million remains royalty-exempt.”

Metaverse

This business model for the makers of Fortnite seems to be working. They announced earlier this year that the Epic Store’s user count had risen to 194 million and that sales, at about $840 million, had risen 20% since 2020. Other companies also clearly see the value in Epic, with Sony investing $1 billion into Epic Games’ involvement in the Metaverse and Lego partnering with Epic to make the metaverse suitable for kids – with reports of also investing $1 billion into the company.

In Outriders, humanity searches for a new home on the alien planet Enoch, but it turns out to be more dangerous than they’d expected. Though Outriders initially had mixed reviews when it first came out, it has gained support from its player base, and People Can Fly updated it to fix problems and improve the gameplay.

The game recently received a new update – New Horizons – which added a plethora of content to the game.

In addition to the four new Expeditions, the massive free update introduces a new transmog system and removes timers from Expeditions. This means that you can earn rewards no matter how long your missions take.

Alongside all the extra content, the developers have also fixed a whole bunch of bugs and issues that were still prevalent within the game. They also added new weapon skins, general balancing issues with Classes, Mods and Skills. Tiago has also received an overhaul to his store too.

With the free New Horizon update, players can explore previously unexplored areas of Enoch with four brand-new “massive” Expeditions. Each mini-story connects to the characters and events of the Outriders’ main plot.

All players, including those new to the game, can start the first expedition. At CT4, CT8, and CT12, the others will be unlocked one by one. Furthermore, Expedition Timers have been removed to help players complete the new content – and make the most of the existing Expeditions – so they will receive the reward regardless of how long it takes them to complete the task.

Outriders New Expeditions

The four new Expeditions in Outriders are:

Molten Depths will send you back to Eagle Peaks. Dunham discovered a hidden power station after a drop pod signal was activated. She needs you to clear out any unwanted tenants from the station before it can be put back online, no matter what size, shape, or form they take.

The City of Nomads will confront you with a character, who is haunted by the sins of his past. Despite his dark past, you decide to help him protect the old Pax village Uketu Atarah.

In The Marshal’s Complex, Corrigan, the great grand marshal himself asks you to reclaim a facility near Deadrock Pass, taken by insurgents. After exploring this facility for a short time, you’ll discover that it is anything but a typical insurgent camp.

The Wellspring. Tiago told you about the Pax legend of a sacred place called Atuma ih Taru, where pilgrims would take long travels to sacrifice their treasures into deep wells. There is a tremendous storm that is getting stronger and stronger as you and your team look for these forgotten treasures.

We don’t yet know whether or not all this new content will be enough to draw players back in time for the release of the Wordslayer expansion, however it does bring many welcome changes and fixes to the existing player-base.

There were lots of rumours floating around about a surprise release of Halo: Infinite’s multiplayer launching to celebrate Xbox’s twentieth anniversary. Turns out those rumours were true. Yesterday evening Halo: Infinite’s multiplayer was released for  free to Xbox and PC players. The news was delivered at Microsoft’s Xbox 20th Anniversary Livestream event by the crew at 343 Industries, as well as Joseph Staten and Tom French.

This time round though Microsoft are doing things a bit differently. Microsoft is not only breaking the campaign and multiplayer into two portions, but the multiplayer component is also fully free to download for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S for the first time. The campaign is still not set to arrive until December 8th. For now, players may jump into Season 1 of Halo Infinite multiplayer and have access to all maps, core modes, and earn all of the Battle Pass items.

The Multiplayer is Great

I spent some time playing it last night. Put shortly, I already think it’s amazing. As a long time Halo fan, it feels really familiar to playing Halo 3. The game feels incredible and I’m really enjoying some of the new equipment. When used properly it can make for some very satisfying plays.

A lot of the battle pass content available for the Heroes of Reach Season 1 Pass looks pretty cool, bringing back classic armour sets from, well… The Heroes of Halo: Reach. Another intriguing armour set that caught my eye. This awesome armour set has a stylish aesthetic inspired by Samurai warriors. Known as the Yoroi Spartan Armor, and does not require any specific rank lists or battle pass tiers to obtain it.

As of next week, on November 23rd, merely participating in the first limited-time event, Fracture: Tenrai, during Season 1 is all you have to do  to obtain the armor. The limited-time event will also have its own free event pass, which will include the armour. Furthermore, the in-game store will feature even more Yoroi-inspired cosmetics available for purchase if you want to. As the event approaches, 343 will provide additional information.

Season 1 will last until May 2022. Along the way #HaloInfinite will have multiple in-game events with their own rewards and activities!

What Else to Expect in Season 1

343 Industries have stressed is that they want to focus on fun and avoid a forcing players to grind when it comes to Halo Infinite battle passes. The Battle Passes permanently available for those who choose to purchase them. All time-limited aspects and challenges have been removed as well. The first season for Halo Infinite will last until May 2022. This will give fans plenty of time to work through the game’s initial content.

Players will find a whole range of game modes to choose from, including classics like Capture the Flag, Oddball, Slayer, One Flag CTF, and more at launch. Big Team Battle is readily available and includes modes like Capture the Flag, Slayer, Total Control, and Stockpile for those classic chaotic Halo games. There will also be the occasional event Playlists. If you need to practise and freshen up your skills, Bot Bootcamp is available for teams of 4 players to take on 4 AI enemies. Lastly, there is  also a ranked arena mode with different reward tiers that range from Bronze to Diamond.

According to 343 Industries, Halo Infinite will have multiple rewards and activities to discover during the first season, following the multiplayer launch. As of right now, there are over 100 rewards in the Premium battle pass including the Spartan helmet with flames, visors, coatings, emblems, armour FX, gear based on characters from Halo: Reach, and new AI like the ODST Superintendent. This leaves players with more than enough to unlock between now and the next season.

Halo: Infinite will release on Xbox Series X/S and PC on 8th December 2021. The multiplayer is available now. Read more about Halo: Infinite here!

Epic Games have revealed that they are  offering three games for free  week instead of the usual two.

Currently Available on the Epic Games Store

The games will replace the Rogue Company Epic Pack, which is currently available for free, alongside Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep.

The new additions will be rolled out on November 18th. Epic Games will, however, be rotating out Tiny Tina’s Assault On Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-shot Adventure on November 16th. The game is a standalone adaptation of a Borderlands 2 DLC.

Epic Games Free New Additions

Guild Of Dungeoneering will be one of the upcoming games available for free on the Epic Games Store. It is a top-down dungeon crawler that flips the formula. It doesn’t let players control an explorer, but rather lets them build a dungeon around a hero who explores the depths. In this game, players draw cards from their guild deck to construct rooms, monsters, traps, and loot. The goal is to prepare adventurers for exploring deeper, darker dungeons.

Kid A Mnesia: Exhibition will be the second title to be available. Epic Games and Radiohead teamed up for this interactive experience. Based on Radiohead’s album artwork, it is described as an “upside-down digital/analogue universe”. The release will tie in with Kid A Mnesia, a commemorative rerelease of Radiohead’s albums Kid A and Amnesiac.

The third game up for grabs is Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna). Players will get to experience an epic journey as Nuna and Fox begin an expedition to find the source of an eternal blizzard that threatens the survival of everything they have ever known. The game allows players to switch between Nuna and Fox at any time, or you can grab a friend and each control one character in local co-op.

Assassin’s Creed is without a doubt one of Ubisoft’s most renowned franchises.  The most recent entry in the series – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, stands out particularly amongst them due to its improved combat mechanics, compelling storyline and of course its expansive depiction of Norse mythology.

The Oskoreia Festival, commonly known as the Wild Hunt Festival, has been anticipated by fans of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla since dataminers discovered proof of it in September 2021. This event appears to be inspired by the Wild Hunt, a northern European folklore theme prevalent in many cultures. Oskoereia is also the Norwegian name for the Wild Hunt.

Valhalla continues to shine brightly as the Oskoreia Season Free Update approaches. This update includes the limited-time event as well as a new free gaming activity. All of which are highlighted in a new  video.

What’s Featured in the Valhalla Update

During the trailer, players learn that the gods will journey to Midgard to hunt. Their prey will be composed of both monsters and mankind, like the real-life Wild Hunt. Eivor and his companions appear to be taking part in this festival to demonstrate that they are not easy prey by putting themselves through numerous challenges. A lot of effort has clearly gone into this update since it was prominently featured within Valhalla’s content roadmap.

Eivor must find a way to pay respect the dead, or else they will haunt the Vikings during this time-limited event between November 11th and December 2nd. We see Eivor battle a variety of foes including spectral enemies of unknown origin, and also a werewolf. There will be a variety of new activities and rewards for players in the update too. Eivor and their Raven are both decked out with some new bone accessories. We also see Eivor wielding Hel’s scythe.

The Tombs of the Fallen free gaming activity will be included in the same update. This will see Eivor delving deep into ancient ruins and solving puzzles. Eivor is shown navigating a range of platforming difficulties.. These tombs look to be packed with bats, snow, and a wide variety of unique environmental features and traps. It’s unclear what Tombs of the Fallen’s main narrative will involve, but it offers a new challenge regardless.

This week Epic Games has revealed the next title that will be available to download for free on the Epic Games Store. The next game to be available for free will be Among the Sleep – Enhanced Edition. This will replace Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse and Paladins Epic Pack, which is currently available until the 21^st of October for free.

In thIn Among the Sleep, you play as a two-year-old infant in a first-person horror adventure. You start wandering the dark in search of comfort after waking up in the middle of the night to strange sounds.is first-person horror game, you play as a little boy caught in a strange nightmare in which you must find your mother. Rather than using intense musical scores and high lethality combat situations, the game explores fear through atmosphere and exploration. You’re vulnerable, terrified, and attempting to make sense of the world through a child’s eyes.

Since the marketplace’s inception, Epic has given out free titles on a weekly basis, including 103 games in 2020, worth a total of $2,407 at current US pricing. Last year, consumers claimed over 749 million free titles, according to Epic.

Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse lets you play as Stubbs, our zombie protagonist. The game is simple, with your main objective being to convert humans into zombies using a small variety of methods. This game will be available until October 21^st!

Also available is the Champions Pack for Paladins, which includes 4 different champions each with an alternative skin. These champions are: Androxus, Raum, Tyra, and Ying – one champion from each role.
