In addition to the modes mentioned above, there is also a Watch Tab option, letting players spectate the creators playing the game. This mode lets you optionally take control of Pac-Man or the ghosts if you’re feeling adventurous! It’s good to hear Pac-Man Community has built-in social mechanics, partly for accessibility, partly for the sake of the Facebook boomers that post Messenger texts on their wall by accident!

But for those of you who are more into the competitive scene, don’t you worry mon petit bourgeois! Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can play Pac-Man 99, a Battle Royale take on the classic game.

The post Pac-Man Fans Make Facebook Wholesome! first appeared on Get2Gaming.

The film’s co-producer has long announced Chris Pratt won’t be replicating Mario’s signature Italian-meets-Mickey Mouse accent for the film, so some mixed opinions on that front, but at least we won’t be getting an Italian Mr Yuniyoshi out of this. And hey, depending what level of boomer you’re dealing with, a whole generation grew up with a Mario from Brooklyn, so the devil’s advocate in me is going to say Mario’s race may be non-diegetic. That’s film-snob-speak for “a thing the audience can perceive that characters can’t”, like the Rocky theme in a training montage or the tonal incongruity of a medieval executioner in the western comedy Blazing Saddles.

When approached by a reporter at LAX airport, Illumination co-founder and CEO Chris Meledandri had the following to say:

“All I can tell you is the voice that he’s doing for us and Mario is phenomenal, I can’t wait for people to hear it” – Chris Meledandri.

Furthermore, while Chris Pratt won’t be adopting the same accent as Charles Martinet (the original voice of Mario in the games), Meldandri has confirmed intentions to “cover it in the movie” and “you’ll see that we definitely nod to that, but that’s not the tenor of the performance throughout the film”. So the film may be taking notes from the Wandavision school of accents in storytelling, where Mario’s “original” accent will only pop out in plot-contextual moments of revelation.

In other news, Shigeru Miyamoto, chief game designer and director at Nintendo has also been announced as a co-producer on the film. So needless to say, Nintendo will be a lot more cautious with making sure this film doesn’t turn out as hilariously bad as the last attempt at a Mario Cinematic Universe.

Meledandri was also nominated as a new external director of Nintendo, alongside confirmations from Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa that exploring other Nintendo properties in animated content is a possibility.

Nintendo Switch Online Has Taken Nintendo Switch Users By Storm

Starting off with only 9 million Nintendo Switch Online Subscribers in 2019 and jumping to 15 million in early 2020 and 26 million in late 2020, there has been a significant leap in 2021, with 32 million Nintendo Switch Online users.

At the last Nintendo Switch Direct, they announced an N64 expansion pack as part of the Nintendo Switch Online membership, which includes a library of N64 games ported to the Nintendo Switch, such as Mario Kart, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and many more old-time classics, with the notorious, soon to be added is Paper Mario.

At the Animal Crossing New Horizons Direct, Nintendo added a lot of new features that many fans were excited for,  Happy Home Paradise DLC included in the Expansion pack and Nintendo Switch Online.  For those who didn’t already have Nintendo Switch online, the expansion pack turned out to be a pretty good deal at approximately £24 on offer over the weekend. For those who planned to buy  the Happy Home Paradise DLC, that was also a great deal considering the actual DLC was £22.

The expansion pack includes Happy Home Paradise, Nintendo Switch Online and The N64 pack for less than £34.99 which happens to be the original price for  Nintendo Switch Online with the expansion pack.

Furthermore, fans of Paper Mario have constantly complained over these years over Nintendo’s Paper Mario creations since The Thousand Year Door, (personally I’ve enjoyed them, besides sticker star and colour splash…) the Nintendo DS creations were upsetting to fans and the Nintendo Wii had made fans feel perplexed, despite the great story, they found it strange for the game to be a platformer.

Overall, they just wanted the original lay out and original turn-based battle system. Some fans had mixed feelings about Paper Mario the Origami King due to the Puzzle – turn based battle system, however many fans still found the playthrough to be entertaining, with loveable characters and a lovely story.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that fans (like myself) yearn for the nostalgia of The Thousand Year Door and Paper Mario N64, which is one of the games that has Nintendo fans wanting to buy the expansion pack to access the upcoming Paper Mario as part of the N64 collection.

What a time to be a Mario fan! With the new release of Mario Party Superstars and a full-length feature film in the works, Nintendo lovers will be no doubt be giddily excited. Not only this, but there have been rumours circulating online that our favourite ape, Donkey Kong, is also set to get his solo film. It’s on like Donkey Kong.

According to Giant Freakin Robot, Illumination is set to develop the film alongside their Super Mario Bros project. In addition, Seth Rogen will reprise his voice role after making his first appearance in the previously-mentioned Mario movie.

Unfortunately, there are currently no other details about which other Mario characters may appear. However, we can assume that Fred Armisen’s Cranky Kong must surely have a part in it. What sort of Donkey Kong wouldn’t feature his notoriously crabby grandfather? No film we want to be part of that’s for sure.

Mario And Donkey Kong: The Long-Running Friendship

Firstly, we should have a quick look at the character of Donkey Kong. The original Donkey Kong first appeared as the title character and antagonist of the eponymous 1981 game, a platformer by Nintendo, which would lead to the Donkey Kong series. Who was the protagonist in that game? Well of course it was our Italian favourite plumber- Mario. Since his original appearance, he has appeared as both a good and bad guy in various Mario games. Bowser has seemingly taken over his role as being the big bad in the Mario universe. Probably for the best.

Could this be the dawn of a beautiful relationship between Illumination and Nintendo? We certainly hope so. It should come as no surprise that Donkey Kong would be their second choice for his own film. The character has been around for decades in which he’s become a clear fan favourite. Similarly, having Hollywood A-lister Seth Rogen voice him will automatically draw in crowds. His unique voice will definitely add something interesting to the character and we can’t wait to see it! It’s certainly going to be hilarious.

Is This The Start Of A Nintendo Cinematic Universe?

Nintendo, assemble? This also suggests the potential of an animated Nintendo cinematic universe. Could we see the likes of Zelda and Kirby making the jump to the big screens? That’s something we’d really want to see. Since Warner Bros. released a live-action Pokemon film two years ago, we can definitely count them out. There have also been rumours of Netflix working on a live action series for Pokemon, so there’s that too. Nevertheless, we’re excited to see what both studios can do with their Nintendo IP’s. It’s-a-finally-here! After months of waiting, fans will now be able to get their hands on the latest entry in the Mario Party franchise. Despite reports of leaks last week, Nintendo have managed to deliver. Mario Party Superstars has so far been met with critical acclaim and we can’t wait to get our hands on it!

Set to include over 100 mini-games which are taken from the ten previous main games in the series, nostalgia is going to be intense. Not only this, but the game is also including five previous boards we’ve seen before.

“Whether you are saving up coins for stars in board game mode or practising in free play, there is nothing quite like being the last one standing in Mushroom Mix-Up or Shy Guy Says,” reads the product description on the Nintendo eShop.

“Matches with friends in board game mode save each turn, so feel free to take a break and pick up where you left off. Use stickers to praise or pester fellow players as you race across the board collecting stars.”

Happy Birthday to our favourite Italian Plumber! It may seem like the other day or a lifetime ago, but believe it or not this week is the 4th anniversary of Super Mario Odyssey. Times flies, eh?

Currently, the game is the sixth best-selling Switch game of all time. It has sold an incredible  21 million copies around the world. Subsequently, that makes it one of the highest-selling Mario games on the platform. Alongside Mario Kart 8 Deluxe though, ofcourse.

Whilst Nintendo celebrated the  third-anniversary last year on Mario’s 35th-anniversary milestone, the game hasn’t received any recognition this time round. Forgetting your most popular characters birthday Nintendo? Shame on you. You’d never see that here at go2games. We remember when this trailer came out all those years ago:

Top Five Super Mario Odyssey Moments

As its four years of playing this gaming gem, we thought we’d countdown our most memorable moments of playing Mario’s adventure. Obviously, Odyssey has multiple moments which you can choose from. However, we thought it be best to just narrow it down to five- keep it short and sweet. So as the famous red-capped hero would say: Lets-a-go!

*Spoilers Below* (If you’re yet to play this absolute classic, firstly, shame on you. Secondly, pick up a copy here)

5. Darker Side Of The Moon

Recently, Mario games have decided to include an almost impossible final stage. Odyssey decided to continue that trend. Upon arrival, you are greeted by all the friendly NPCs you’ve met throughout the game who happily cheer you on! Despite this friendly entrance, Darker Side of the Moon is certainly one of the hardest moons to get in the game. It puts your platforming skills to the test and really makes you feel like you’ve earned your reward. Above all though, that Cappy goodbye as you climb to the top of New Donk City Hall has us in tears even four years on.

4. Arriving At Mushroom Kingdom

Nostalgia at its finest. We’re smacked right back into Princess Peach’s castle. Just like Darker Side Of The Moon, you’re greeted by welcoming guests which are of course Toads. Moreover, they even decide to put in a Mario costume from his 64-bit form and an “Eternal Star” water fountain has a hidden star as well. This is of course a reference to  Luigi in Super Mario 64 rumours. It really just feels like a love letter to Mario fans in this last section, and we’re all here for it!

3. Capturing Yoshi

This one goes without saying. Who doesn’t love playing as one of Mario’s oldest friends? Importantly, it really gave a sense of what it’d be like if Yoshi got his own gaming title. Just imagine that. Platforming as Yoshi would be a real-delight for us long-time fans. So taking him on in Odyssey was without a doubt one of the most fun experiences for us in the game.

2. New Donk City Festival

What a welcome surprise this one was! While the game was packed with DK references, it was a complete shock to be shot right into a classic Donkey Kong 2D style gaming experience! Rolling barrels and oil cans galore! Donk City Festival was just a complete blast! Besides, how could you not love the “Jump, Super Star” song by Pauline. As Cliche as it is, this really made us feel like Mario again. Without a doubt it would’ve been number 1, if it weren’t for this glorious moment which happened next…

1. Playing as Bowser

What. A. Moment. Taking control of Mario’s Arch nemesis. Nothing could really compare to it, could it? Going through all the memorable battles Bowser and our hero have had across the years was a real celebration of Mario goodness. It was Nintendo thanking us for sticking with them for so man years. Undoubtedly, it will go down as one of the best gaming moments throughout history. There’s really not much more that needs to be said…

So there we have it! That’s our top five moments in the Super Mario Odyssey game! Four years on, but what a great four years its been! Let’s hope there is a long-awaited sequel on its way!

Thank Christ on a silver platter that Squid Game got as popular as it did so fast, now I have an excuse to crossover two of my favourite things: Gaming and the hit Netflix series Squid Game. Here’s some games I recommend for other fans of the show! Click on the highlighted subheadings for links to where you can get them on our page!

Overcooked

I dunno about you, but that episode with the honeycomb sure got me hungry. The art of cooking is a must, but unlike that particular episode, you won’t have to fly solo in Overcooked! In fact, it’s best with some good ol couch co-op or online play, as you and your partner(s) arrange how to tackle the incoming orders at a restaurant by divvying up responsibilities among eachother. Communication is key, speed is key and great food is definitely a nice Brucey bonus!

Mario Party Games

While this one may not have as high stakes as life-or-death struggles, you gotta admit the Front Man and the folks in charge of the Squid Game competitions are definitely a creative bunch. Maybe in another life, the billionaire masterminds behind the Squid Game would’ve found a new joi de vivre as a game designer, but that’s neither here nor there. Mario Party games will definitely scratch that itch for letting you take part in a wide variety of mini games with unique rules, be it with friends, family, enemies or frenemies!

Fortnite (figures, toys, board games and bundles)

Let’s not mince words. Between Squid Game, Hunger Games and PUBG, the battle royale genre (fittingly inspired by the classic book and film ‘Battle Royale’) definitely has its fingers in a lot of pop-culture pies. Fortnite is completely free to play on most platforms, but if you’re feeling like bringing some extra style to the battle field, buy our Last Laugh expansion bundles on Xbox or PS5 if you want to play with 3 character skins (Joker’s having multiple styles), some cool extra cosmetics and even 1000 Vbucks you can spend to get extra stuff in the in-game store!

Nier Automata Game of the YoRHa Edition

While a little more on the anime’d up post-apocalyptic existential sci-fi train than Squid Game, both properties have very well written mystery elements, a heaped tablespoon of philosophical and social commentary, plus a series of fittingly dramatic moments of tear-worthy crippling dread at the ruthlessness of the human species (and a tiny dash of optimism for good measure… maybe).

Kirby Battle Royale!

Basically the same joke as Fortnite, but also POYO!!!! And I swear, the Kirby Right Back At Ya theme song will live rent free in my brain hole until the day I die. Play Kirby Battle Royale with friends or in a fun little single-player campaign.

The Escapists 1+2

This one’s for those of you who’d be on the side of voting out of the titular Squid Games after the testicle-shrinkingly intense suspense of the red light green light game. What better way to get out of that scenario than a good ol fashioned prison escape game?

It’s-a-here! Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is finally set to present its last DLC, three years on from the games initial release in 2018. Fans of the fifth installment of the Super Smash Bros series have been spoilt with a steady stream of downloadable content which Nintendo looks to conclude by hosting its last Super Smash Bros. Ultimate presentation on Tuesday Oct. 5.

The event will look to showcase the cross-over-fighting games final DLC character, in addition to a new variety of Mii fighter costumes and other new features. Adding to an already jam-packed character roster featuring all of Nintendos greats, here’s everything you need to know about the event, including how to watch it and what time it starts.

Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC reveal start time

The final Super Smash. Bros Ultimate DLC will be unveiled today, Oct. 5. The stream will begin at 15:00 GMT and will run for approximately 40 minutes.

How to Watch

You will be able to watch the Nintendo stream via their official Youtube and Twitch channels. Here’s a link to the stream below so your able to set a reminder to tune into the final reveal!

What to expect From Super Smash Bros.

As with all previous Super Smash Bros. streams, today’s presentation will be hosted by game director Masahiro Sakurai. Director of the hugely successful Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Sakurai will be pleased his Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has received similar praise to one its predecessors, and will be excited to uncover the last DLC character and announce when they’re first appearance in the game will be.

In a translated tweet, Sakurai has urged any fan Smash Bros. to tune into the character reveal. Speaking on October 4th, he writes “In one day, the final fighter of Smash Bros. will be announced. Even if you don’t play Smash Bros., if you are interested in the game, please watch it.”

He continues “The new fighter may be a character you don’t know” and how he is looking forward to the broadcast as he “enjoyed recording it.” This can only keep fans intrigued as to who this mystery character can be!

Whoever they are, they’ll be added to Super Smash Bros. already impressive character roster featuring  81 different characters from Nintendo franchises as well as fighters from series by third party developers such as Konami, Sega, Capcom and many more. Sakurai will also explain an in-depth look at the 82nds fighters gameplay moves as well as an all-new stage and unique music content which each DLC character has received so far.

Lucky for Super Smash Bros. fans, Nintendo don’t intend to just stop the content there! For those looking to give their Mii fighter an exciting new outfit to battle in, Nintendo of Europe have confirmed that the final wave of Mii fighter costumes will also be revealed during today’s stream. It is assumed that these will go live alongside the new fighter later this month.

UK fans of the series will be able to pick up the new character and features in the Fighters Pass Vol.2, which also allows players access to other season 2 DLC fighters: Min Min, Steve/ Alex, Sephiroth and Pyra/ Myrtha. The bundle will be available for £22 and if players only desire the new character,  they will will also be available individually for just under £5.

With this being the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC, Nintendo will be hoping this to be a fitting conclusion to a game which has sold over 24.77 million copies worldwide. Let’s hope they’re able to offer a fitting finale to a game series which has  gifted us with such entertaining gameplay over the last three years!

The September 2021 Nintendo Direct had some exciting news for its fanbase this year. Everyone’s favourite pair of Italian plumbers are hitting the big screens, along with the rest of the smash bro’s friends and enemies.

The studio working on the animation for the feature-length film is Illumination, the production company behind the loveable super-villain Gru in Despicable Me and his little yellow friends.

Anything more than a ‘yippee’ or a ‘wahoo’ from the brothers in the games is a rarity. So to hear their voices spoke through the likes of Chris Pratt as Mario (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Charlie Day as Luigi (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Horrible Bosses) being cast as the pair it should make for a hilarious film, or weird we’ll see.

Both with comedic backgrounds their sure to integrate their sense of humour into the roles. Toad, the mini mushroom man, is played by actor and comedian Keegan Michael Key, making an exhilarating trio of comedians. The inside of the recording studio with these three would be comedy gold.

Don’t worry; the rest of the cast is just as exciting with Anya Taylor (The Queens Gambit, Peaky Blinders) as Peach. Mostly known for her serious roles in dramas, and perhaps that’s why she was cast.

Jack Black (Tenacious D, King Kong) will be playing Bowser, a fitting role for the entertainer, while Seth Rogan (Pineapple Express, Superbad) will be playing Donkey Kong.

No footage or voice acting is released yet, and the plot for the movie is yet to be seen, but if there’s one thing for sure is that you can place a bet on Bowser whisking Peach away from Mario and his pals at some point, for Mario and co to save her from peril.

A diverse, star-studded cast have the opportunity to portray one of the most famous teams of video game characters of all time, so all being well, it will be good or at least better than the last attempt.

Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block Lego Set

Nintendo announced the upcoming release of their Super Mario 64 themed, question mark block LEGO set. It has features one of Super Mario 64’s first level Bob-omb Battlefield which is without a doubt one of the most nostalgic levels and has been used a lot in Nintendo merchandise and level remakes. This gives fans a chance to head down memory lane, with not just nostalgia for Super Mario 64 but also for Lego, as it’s something that has been passed down generations. It’s been 25 years since the original launch and of Super Mario 64 and this is the perfect way to celebrate.

This lego kit includes Peach’s castle, bob-omb Battlefield, cool, cool mountain and Lethal lava trouble as well as 10 micro figures of memorable characters. I suppose that leaves you wondering what you can do with the little kit, so far Nintendo has said “For interactive play, add a LEGO Mario or LEGO Luigi figure from the 71360/71387 Starter Courses (sold separately) and collect 10 hidden Power Stars to reveal secret reactions and more.”
