Dead by Daylight has recently revealed a second collaboration with Resident Evil, titled Resident Evil: PROJECT W. This will be the twenty-fifth chapter for the game, and will feature three new playable characters from the Resident Evil franchise.

Dead by Daylight is a multi-player horror/survival game that features four survivors and a single killer, each with a different objective. The killer must hunt, chase and hook the survivors, whilst the survivors must work together to repair generators, evade the killer and escape.

Dead by Daylight is no stranger to collaborating with other franchises, with horror icons including Leatherface, Pyramid Head, Ghostface and Pinhead all being introduced into the game since its launch in 2016. This also isn’t the first collaboration between Dead by Daylight and CAPCOM, with Jill Valentine, Leon S Kennedy and The Nemesis, all being added into the game in June 2021.

Resident Evil: Project W will introduce two new survivors; resident super spy, Ada Wong and young S.T.A.R.S. recruit and medic, Rebecca Chambers, along with one new killer; former Umbrella officer, Albert Wesker (simply referred to as ‘The Mastermind’ in The Fog).

The chapter will also introduce a reworked Raccoon City Police Department map, which has been split into two separate maps; East Wing and West Wing.

Similarly to Chapter 20: Resident Evil’s Nemesis, Albert Wesker harnesses the ability to inflict survivors with a virus, which can only becured with first aid spray littered in chests, around the map. Wesker also has the ability to throw his victims a great distance due to the Uroboros Virus that has infected his body.

Whilst no specific release date has been announced as of late, it is scheduled to be released on all platforms, in Autumn 2022.

The renowned Japanese videogame giants and publishing house behind legendary and iconic gaming franchises such as StreetFighter, Megaman, Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, Capcom have listed their “All time best-selling videogames“

Capcom have compiled and listed their entire historys released titles and compiled them into the All-time best selling with over 100 of Capcoms titles surpassing 1M units with not surprisingly Monster Hunter World being far and away Capcoms most successful franchise to date leading the pack at a monstrous 18M units sold which released in 2018 on all major formats.

At a distant second place surprisingly at 10.8 M units sold to date is the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 7 which was a successful soft reboot of the franchise that  preceded Monster Hunter World a year earlier.

Within Capcoms top10 it is not surprisingly dominated by variations and spin offs of the Monster Hunter series leading the charge with recent entries of Resident Evil and Street Fighter also making up the list.

The oldest Capcom title to get into the top10 is StreetFighter 2 which released all the way back in 1992 on the now legendary SNES at a 6.3M units sold to date with somewhat surprisingly the latest Street Fighter V which released in 2016 trailing by a whisker at 6.2M units sold to date.

As of right, there are less than 6 days until the clock reaches zero, although what exactly that means is unclear, but there has been a lot of speculation on what it may be. Right now there are two major theories. One revolves arround the fact tha the current Capcom Pro Tour for street fighter 5 will end on february 20th, the same day the countdown is set to end, which would make a good opportunity for capcom to announce streetfighter 6.

Streetfighter 5 came out 6 years ago now and capcom has also recently mentioned that it is looking ahead to “the future of Street Fighter”. There where also rumors back in 2020 that street fighter 6 had been delayed back to this year, due to capcom not beind happy with the games mechanics.

The other main option would be the Rumored Resident Evil 4 Remake, which has not been officially announced as even being real. The clocks font does bare resemblance to the Font used in the recent resident evil 2 and 3 remakes. It has also recently rumored that this game (which again, we dont even know is real) will be switching timelines and going for a darker tone than the original Resident evil 4. Now, personally, I think this is a horrible Idea. Resident Evil 4 is beloved in part for how stupid it is, and taking the game in a darker direction for a remake would ruin that otherwise perfect vibe.

Either way, it will be interesting to see what comes of this when the count reaches zero.

“Let’s make a scary movie again.”

The infamous franchise’s latest movie, Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City, will hit theatres this week. Recent instalments of the historical series have often strayed off the horror path, swaying towards a Sci-Fi approach. It seems like this is not the case with the upcoming film, as the Director has affirmed that it is an actual horror film at its core.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, director Johannes Roberts opened up about his desire to capture the chills and thrills of the iconic games.

“I’m a horror guy. I’m a Stephen King guy. I’m a John Carpenter guy. All those things are sort of built into the fabric of this movie,” Roberts explained. “I was just like, ‘Let’s make a scary movie again.'”

There are different types of horror throughout the video games, with the latest couple of entries feeling very different from the early games. For Roberts, Resident Evil 2 was the one that helped him lock in the tone, showing him exactly what kind of movie he wanted to make with Welcome to Raccoon City.

There are loads of Resident Evil games out there, many of which keep up with the Raccoon City storyline. Nothing has been ordered yet, but Roberts is undoubtedly interested in bringing more movies to life in the future.

“I think [Welcome to Raccoon City] sets everything up really well, an origin story for each of our characters,” he said. “I think it would be really important to me that we don’t just use this as a springboard to then just go off into our own crazy world. I think there’s so much in the games that is so fascinating and exciting that I would really love to continue to explore that.”

In other news, October and November have seen some big next-gen titles released, including Call of Duty: Vanguard, Battlefield 2042, FIFA 22, Far Cry 6, and Left 4 Dead’s spiritual successor, Back 4 Blood. 2. Nier Replicant

Nier Replicant is an emotional JRPG set in the year 3465 and is about a young boy who’s on a quest to save his sister from a disease known as the ‘black scrawl’ and is on the search for the ‘sealed verses’ while uncovering all the secrets that lie behind it.

The soundtrack in NieR Replicant is godsent, it’s just as beautiful as NieR: Automata’s soundtrack and completely captures every little emotion from the characters to the supporting characters, the viewers, the dialogue and even the environment. Everyone is a witness and through the music, NieR Replicant makes everyone a part of guilt, happiness, loss and love, including the player.

In a recent report, video game company Capcom behind Street Fighter, Resident Evil and other beloved series has claimed Pragmata has been making steady progress.

Alongside this, Capcom has also confirmed free DLC updates coming to Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil Village!

What is Pragmata? Pragmata is an upcoming video game announced in a 2020 PlayStation 5 reveal event. Based on the trailer, it seems to be shaping up as a Death Stranding style atmospheric sci-fi action-horror seeing you explore a largely abandoned world infested with dangerous beings, seemingly focused around a rescue mission of sorts. Check out the trailer here!

Capcom also announced it will be hiring over 100 “graduates” and “seasoned mid-career professionals” to aid in the company’s growth and further the development of new IPs (intellectual properties) like Pragmata. During a PlayStation 5 sizzle reel, Capcom also announced in January 2021 that the game’s release will be delayed to around 2023. Considering how ball-fondlingly crisp the graphics are on this game and they’ll likely have to keep up that quality for gameplay, hopefully another delay update comes out sometime, so as not to rush the newbies and potentially lead to crunch work, which is a whole other can of worms. At the same time, fingers crossed this doesn’t become another Deep Down situation (another Capcom game in the works that ended up getting scraped).

A new board game is coming for fans of the survival horror game and you have a chance to back it!

Halloween is just around the corner but the survival horror genre is everlasting when it comes to the number of games you can throw yourself into. Resident Evil is no exception, especially with all the different games in the series, the multiple live-action adaptations it has received. a comic book series, and its very own board games.

Resident Evil: The Board Game

Steamforged Games published a board game for Resident Evil 2 back in 2017 and another for Resident Evil 3 set to release this November. The company announced last month it would be publishing another for the original Capcom video game that started it all. 

Resident Evil: The Board Game is a cooperative survival horror game for 1-4 players that sees players step into the boots of a S.T.A.R. member and enter the sinister Spencer Mansion to uncover the horrifying truths within. Search for secrets as well as survivors and try to survive the night with  crawling with enemies around you.

The  board game features the S.T.A.R. members Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Rebecca Chambers, and Barry Burton as playable figurines and also includes a number of enemy figurines based on classic Resident Evil enemy NPCs.

The company stated it would start a Kickstarter campaign for the board game this autumn. The page finally launched yesterday and…

the board game is already completely funded!

As of writing this, Resident Evil: The Board Game has 4,691 backers and has raised a total of £761,540, which is roughly just over $1,000,000. The Kickstarter campaign still has 14 days to go to receive more funds and backers.

Resident Evil is a timeless series that hasn’t lost its wonder yet, and with more days to go, the board game is certainly going to grow from strength to strength and is the perfect celebration for the 25th anniversary!

Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine from Capcom‘s beloved Resident Evil games now come to Fortnite, purchasable via the in-game store!

Considering Fortnite was originally pitched as a minecraft-esque zombie survival before making the switch to Battle Royale, it’s about time Epic Games had the bright idea to crossover Fortnite with one of the most iconic zombie game franchises out there. Not to mention the Horde Mode’s return alongside the addition of Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead.

Chris and Jill are part of S.T.A.R.S, the Special Tactics and Rescue Service, which invariably leads less often to rescue and more often to shooting various flavours of ne’er do wells in the face, ranging from zombie dogs, to zombie people, to crazed cult people, and sometimes even crazed zombie cult people. He wrestles boulders in his spare time while on a mission to save the president’s daughter, she narrowly escapes brain-consumption from the undead masses to be cautioned after on the possibility of becoming a “Jill sandwich”. Could I make it any more obvious?

Both are available in multiple skins and different harvesting tools are available. You can rep Chris’s Baby-Stealing leather trenchcoat from Resident Evil Village or his Resident Evil 5 look if you wanna be more vanilla. You can also cop Jill’s Raccoon City and business-casual get-ups from Resident Evil 3. The power tools you can whip out include a super hot knife that would make Kano blush (it could probably cut through a Fire Nation ship, leaving thousands to drown at sea… Because it’s so sharp) and an electric stun rod if you’re feeling like experimenting in the bedr- I mean battlefield. The back blings are references to in-game mechanics, such as the typewriter as a saving location and the infamous hand-regrowing herbs for all your barely-escaped torturous boss fight needs.

Overall, pretty good-looking stuff, but considering Venom eventually dropped with a whole movie combo bundle after Let There Be Carnage, I’d advise waiting till the Raccoon City film drops or closer to the time (November 24th) to see if Epic will throw in extra movie-specific skins if you want more bang for your Vbuck.

In the immortal words of a certain sitcom series depicting Mario and Luigi as GTA characters, “Racoon City sounds lovely”!

A new movie trailer dropped: Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City. Click here for a link to the Resident Evil Welcome to Raccoon City trailer. Now, let’s break down the good, the bad and the- HOLY MOTHER OF EINSTEIN BATMAN, THIS ONE HAS BRAINS!

I swear, between this and the shockingly horrifying turnip Jack O’Lantern origin I wrote about, may have an easier time finding scary stuff to poke fun at this Halloween season than I thought. Getting back on track now!

For starters, looks like this film will actually be one of the first to attempt actually capturing the tone of the original games! Sure, you have the scary zombie boys and all, but you also have moments of action-packed fun sprinkled to the tune of What’s Up by 4 Non Blondes, which really captures some good ol 80s and 90s campy cheesiness! I mean, let’s not mince words, that song’s more commonly known version is “the meme where He Man goes HEEEAH YEEEAH YEEAH YEAH YEAH” for a reason!

Outside of that, the trailer also seems to be mixing up plot points from the first two Capcom Resident Evil games, what with the titular monster-infested Raccoon City, references to the villainous corporation Umbrella Corps and the protagonist of Claire Redfield, recurring character of many Resident Evil games. In addition, one point in the trailer features the characters discovering a zombie having a private feast before slowly turning around with a menacing stare is an homage to Resident Evil 1.

Speaking of deep-cut references, the trailer also teases some plot points from ‘Resident Evil: Code Veronica’, trailer Claire’s stumbling on a film reel of Umbrella Corps’ shady dealings being an important scene in Code Veronica. There’s also a film reel labelled ‘The Ashford Twins’ that gets briefly pushed aside, two other important characters in Veronica. Whether or not the characters will have watched that film reel or it’ll be used as just a cheeky easter egg for potential sequel-baiting, we’ll have to wait and see. By and large though, seems likely the film will be adapting at least some version of Resident Evil: Code Veronica’s story. I mean, if that storyline is so good that it’s sequel-worthy, just use that storyline now and make a great film first try, Bob’s your uncle. Just take a page from Marvel and use the best bits as window dressing from multiple stories while threading them together naturally with unique story elements.

With the leaked Capcom information of a Resident Evil 4 game remake in the works, it’ll be great if this film’s borrowing Code Veronica’s story results in a remake of that game, fans would be pleased. Heck, maybe this film could end up paving the way for a Resident Evil 4 film adaptation, who knows.

The Capcom ransomware attack and assorted trusted leakers have also claimed plans of a Switch-exclusive Resident Evil game may be on the horizon. Till we find out more on that, stay tuned on November 24th when Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City releases in cinemas!

PC to be Capcom’s “main platform” in the years to come.

The home of your gaming classics like Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil and many more, plans to bring all focus onto PC. Company COO, Haruhiro Tsujimoto, talking with Japanese Publication Nikkei, states that popular firms, Monster Hunter and Resident Evil “will mainly focus on PC software” from that point on with hopes to advance PC sales to the point the platform outdoes others, making at least half of all sales by the end of the year.

With PC gaming growing rapidly over the years, it’s not seen as a surprise to many with various gaming companies taking this same approach. Still, for the people that enjoy the feel on gaming consoles, this doesn’t necessarily mean games will be discontinued or unavailable to play. But let’s just say gaming consoles are not as “poppin” as they were 5-10 years ago. One of the facts for that, being that during the pandemic, it is said that there has been an increase in Japanese PC usage and that the pandemic is “changing the way people look at PCs”.

With a mixed indication as to what is best for the company after having failed previous computer releases such as popular firm, Street Fighter (4) and many more. But having huge success with Monster Hunter. Monster Hunter: World particularly, with it being their single best-selling release ever, as leaked sales data revealed that it had sold over 5.7 million copies on Steam, comparing that to 5.5 million copies on PlayStation 4 and an extra 1.7 million on Xbox One, all as of September 30, 2020. This looks to be a risk but a risk that is worth taking as the world are seeming to favour PC software as their primary gaming platform.

What will this mean for gaming consoles? Well, with PC “driving global sales” and looking set to be the “main platform”, this means that more development will be put into PC releases with more games being released on and maybe exclusively on PC. This means there may be less efforts to cater towards the console fans and that you may see less new releases and further updates on some of your favourite titles. Nevertheless, this doesn’t mean that Capcom have completely stopped making games for the console audience. It is great to note that releases such as Street Fighter, a fighting game, has shown to be better off on console opposed to on PC which leads to the point that not every game or release will be prioritised on PC. So, console players, continue to look out for your favourite titles and for new releases as this doesn’t stop you from getting them.
