Look away Potterheads, this one isn’t good news for you! Hogwarts Legacy, the upcoming open-world RPG set in the Potter universe, may be suffering from development troubles which have stemmed rumours of the game being delayed even further.

After reports last month that we’d be receiving an update on the game sometime soon, it looks like that may no longer be the positive news we were hoping for. In a recent VGC Sacred Symbols podcast episode, host Colin Moriarty announced that the chances of Hogwarts Legacy releasing in 2022 looks to be diminishing. This is because developer Avalanche Software have unfortunately been succumbed to development issues forcing Warner Bros. to aim for a more realistic 2023 release.

“I am hearing behind the scenes that [the] game [Hogwarts Legacy] is not coming out this year, and that it’s in some sort of trouble,” said Moriarty without clarifying the rumoured development challenges”.

Will Hogwarts Legacy Ever Be Released?

Obviously, this isn’t the first time Potter fans have been left disappointed. The game was supposed to be in our hands already with an initial 2021 release, which was subsequently pushed into 2022. This original delay is understandable due to a little thing called a world wide pandemic, but this one looks to be slightly more worrying.

But what exactly are the problems surrounding the game? According to reports, some parts of the story and characters are being rewritten, which can hopefully only be a good thing. It shows the developers don’t want to release a rushed title, which we’re all here for. However, there’s only so much patience fans can persist with.

With Sony Interactive Entertainment supposedly hosting its first State of Play of 2022 next month, Hogwarts was going to be one of the main games displayed. Apparently, we were going to receive new game play footage, updates on the game as well as a release date. Whilst the footage could still happen, it looks more likely now that Avalanche are going to be confirming the games delay. What a shame.

Everything We Know About Hogwarts Legacy So Far

Despite the fact the games marketing has been absent since its launch trailer, we do know a little bit about it already. As previously mentioned, the game will take place in the Harry Potter universe and will give you the chance to explore iconic locations such as Hogwarts and The Forbidden Forest. You’ll be taking on a variety of tasks by learning spells to enhance your experience in the Wizarding World.

According to a Bloomberg report in 2021, Hogwarts Legacy will let you choose a masculine or feminine voice, body type, and dorm placement as “witch” or “wizard” independently when creating a student.

“Some members of the Hogwarts Legacy development team have fought to make the game as inclusive as possible, pushing for the character customisation and even for a transgender character to be added,” Bloomberg says. “There was resistance from management at first, the people familiar with the project said, but currently the character customisation is included in the game.”

Additionally, there seems to be suggestions that players will be able to learn the Dark Arts provided that they branch their role-playing story the right way. Before we get into the news, STORY TIME! I found out about this news from another journalist and his thumbnail included a perfectly harmless U-Rated innocent poster featuring all the Justice League heroes.

I didn’t know it was entirely family-friendly at first though, because on first glance, Superman looked like he… Well… I’ll try not to put any ideas in your head, but TELL ME THAT DOESN’T LOOK LIKE A… You know… A dinglehopper, as Ariel might say! A steak and two-Tackleberries! That thing that shares a name with the popular Blaxploitation-era crime film originally starring Richard Rountree in 1971! Or as Ben Shapiro would probably say, “the private D-word who’s a sex-machine to all the c-words”.

Back to the news! Dreams is a game designed by folks at Media Molecule (the makers of Little Big Planet) where players can make their own games and play the games of others. For any Avatar The Last Airbender fans reading, turns out gameplay for a Dreams-made Avatar game has released, that’s neat!

Besides rumors of a potential Superman game being in the works, Warner Bros hasn’t confirmed any plans for a AAA game in the same ballpark of production as say, the Marvel’s Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy games (psst, which we have!).

So in this mini DC Superhero gaming drought, Redditteer u/TheRedProphett rolled up their sleeves one day and said “fine, I’ll do it myself” before sharing a video of his Justice League game project. You can view the video of the incomplete game footage here. While the environment and enemies are simple placeholder templates, giving Superman, Batman and Wonderwoman unique move-sets and stable physics for capes and clothes are extremely impressive for any lone game developer.

Rocksteady Games has, in the meantime, announced plans for the game Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, which will allegedly feature the classic superhero team as the antagonists to Harley Quinn’s Suicide Squad. In my headcanon, this move was inspired by one of the CEOs or developers seeing their kid play LEGO DC Super Villains one day via PS+ and thinking “oh damn, that would be a cool hook”!

A little while ago, Rumors started to come out about “Multiversus”, a potential new game from Warner Bros that would be a Super Smash Bros style fighter, but crossing over famous characters owned by warner instead of by Nintendo. The Rumors started in October from a reddit thread, but more was leaked shortly after when Famous Smash Melee Player and Jigglypuff main Hungry box leaked a partial image of the Multiverse Roster.

Now, several warner bros Owned franchises have posted some cryptic tweets which all depict the same thing: their starring characters are gone. Tom and Jerry posted one, Looney Tunes posted one, and many other franchises that were already “confirmed” for the game have. In the comments of some of these posts Warner Bros games have even responded, further suggesting an official reveal is coming soon.

While Multiversus is a very interesting project, this isn’t the first game trying to muscle in on smash Bros Territory. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Launched not too long ago, and features an expansive cast of Nicktoons favourites, from Spongebob to Danny Phantom, Toph to Invader Zim and many more. Along side this we cant forget PlayStation all star Battle Royal From the ps3 (as much as we may want to). Both of these games, and likely also Multiversus, deviate from smash Bros Formula in one way or another, so while comparisons are apt, do not go in assuming this will be a 1 to 1 smash clone just with Warner Bros Characters.

It really is only a matter of time before Multiversus is revealed in some sort of official capacity, and we even have rumors of post-release DLC already, with LeBron James being floated in that capacity.

A peak back into the wizarding world could be coming soon than expected! Despite the original trailer, the only news fans have heard about the upcoming game is that it will be released after the next Fantastic Beasts film. Unfortunately, fans have been left in the dark in pretty much every other aspect of the games release. That won’t stop us from getting excited however. We’ve seen fan-requested Hogwarts features and gameplay mechanics being shared online in hope that the developers pay attention. These include desires for social simulation similar to Persona 5 or Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Now that would be pretty amazing.

However, we’ve received an update. Whisper it quietly, but a reputable leaker has resurfaced once again and offers us hope they we will receive more news about the game sometime soon. We can only hope this is true. Before we delve into exactly what’s been said, have a quick reminder of the games trailer which got us all hyped quite some time ago!

Leaker Expects Update On Hogwarts: Legacy

Video game anlyst and PlayStation insider Millie Amand is the person we should be thanking at this time! She said a simple yet effective ‘Soon…’ on her twitter account, swiftly followed by a Hogwarts Legacy GIF. We know exactly what you’re thinking here. How can you trust a leaker? Well luckily for us, despite her being fairly new on the scene, she does have a credible history behind her. For example, she was supposedly the individual who uncovered the Marvel’s Wolverine leak, as well as various other Sony rumours.

Furthermore, Amands previous remarks have hinted at a showing at the Geoof Keighley’s Game Awards. These are set to be shown on December 9, which gives us hope we’ll finally get news then. According to Amand, Hogwarts Legacy was meant to be ‘shown at the PlayStation Showcase but assets weren’t ready for the show’. Well that’s bitterly disappointing indeed, but should come as no surprise seeing the game has already been delayed by a year.

Notwithstanding Millie’s reputation, Harry Potter fans should be excited regardless. Surely the developers realise we’ve been waiting ever so patiently for any sort of news. Let’s just hope they recognise it quick enough where our hype for this game doesn’t disappear. In all honesty, that’s very unlikely. Just by looking at these screenshots below we can tell Avalanche Studios are plotting something massive here. We cannot wait.

Revealed to us over a year ago, Hogwarts Legacy news has been very few and far between. Warner Bros. haven’t given us any new game play details or new sneak peaks since then, neither have the developers Avalanche Software. It’s all gone very quiet, other than when they informed us about the games delayed release. We should’ve been expecting the title sometime this year but got told we’d have to wait until 2022 instead.

Obviously, 2022 is slowly creeping up on us now. As a result, fans continue to wonder when exactly they’ll be able to get their claws into the wizarding world. Unfortunately, it seems we’re going to have to wait that little big longer than we’d of hoped for. Pity.

Hogwarts Legacy To Be Released After Next Fantastic Beasts Film

Recently, Warner Bros. general manager revealed in an interview with Toy World magazine that the next Fantastic Beasts film and Hogwarts Legacy will be the two big new releases for the IP in 2022. Moreover, she hinted that the latter will be out after the film, which isn’t very surprising.

“We have two major releases; a film and a game, that will be sure to generate incredible excitement amongst fans. The first is the film release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, now announced to be releasing on the 8th of April in the UK. The third instalment is sure to be a real fan favourite”.

“The second major release of 2022 will be a new console game: Hogwarts Legacy. The reaction to the trailer for this has been amazing and it looks set to be a huge success. We know that gaming is such an important part of the market and one that we have to be involved in. From what we’ve seen, the launch will be well worth the wait and will deliver a unique way for fans to interact with the franchise”.

Hogwarts Legacy isn’t the only upcoming 2022 release for WB Games. Alongside Hogwarts Legacy, they also have Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Niantic has cast the avada kedavra spell and will be shutting down its Harry Potter app for good.

After a long and successful run, Niantic and Warner Bros Entertainment are saying goodbye to their collaboration project Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

The AR game that saw the Wizarding World come to life will be removed from apps by the end of this year and the servers will shut down completely by next year. Fear not though, there’s still plenty of upcoming events players can enjoy before the killing curse hits.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite

The AR game launched back in 2019 and was created after the success of Pokémon GO and is situated in the muggle world (our world) where witches and wizards (the players) must come together to solve “The Calamity”, overcome the confounding chaotic magic that surrounds the “Foundables,” and return them to their rightful place, keeping them safe from Muggle eyes.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite received regular updates and fixtures since its initial release and maintained a decently-sized community online. The development team confirmed the game was downloaded by millions of fans around the world, unlike other games Niantic has had to shut down in the past, like their Catan mobile AR game, which was shut down still in its beta testing phase.

A reason for this decision was not provided, however, it is speculated whether the release of Hogwarts Legacy in 2022- an open-world, action role-playing video game set in the late 1800s.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be removed from the App Store, Google Play and Galaxy Store on December 6 and players will be unable to make in-app purchases. The game will shut down fully on January 31, 2022.

However, there’s still time to take part in events during the months of November and December, including the Half-Blood Prince Brilliant Event Part 1 this month and the Voldemort Lethal Adversaries Event next month.

In what is more hopeful news for Niantic, the company have just released another AR game situated in the world of Pikmin titled Pikmin Bloom, which was recently made available in the UK, and is making a series of apps together with Nintendo.

Rumours have started for a fighting brawl game designed for Warner Bros characters, but how true is it?

Crossovers have always been one of my favourite things in life, for video games and any other types of media. The idea that you can perfectly blend two or more completely separate IPs together and make their worlds work will always amaze me. Take for example the recently released Nickelodeon’s All-Star Brawl fighting game, or better yet those Disney Channel TV shows crossovers that hold more nostalgia to them than physically possible.

Yet there are some crossovers that leave me questioning if they will genuinely work. Like what happened with Space Jam 2 which left me feeling more bamboozled if anything. Yet Warner Bros might have another crossover up their sleeve thanks to rumours that have started for their own fighting brawl game.

Multiversus

The rumours began on a Reddit post by GamingLeaksAndRumours that claimed a crossover platform fighter game titled “Multiverse” is in development and will include characters such as Shaggy, Johnny Bravo, Mad Max, Gandalf, Tom & Jerry, Batman, and Fred Flintstone.

So far, there’s very little proof that a Warner Bros smash-style game is being created, apart from the fact there’s a trademark application of the title ‘Multiversus’.

It is also stated in the post that the origin of the game has come from the Shaggy ‘Ultra Instinct Form’ meme that was storming the internet a while back.

One thing the post got wrong was that it was rumoured NetherRealm would be the developer for the crossover game, yet that has since been debunked by Jeff Grubb himself. There is no telling who the developer will be this early on, yet they certainly have their work cut out of them to make this ambitious crossover successful.

No one talks about them…but the invites are coming. WB Games Montreal  marketing for Gotham Knights is starting to gain momentum as they send out Court of Owls packages to a handful of lucky individuals.

Set for a 2022 release, Gotham Knights will be an open-world action RPG featuring the best of the Bat Family. With the in-universe Batman dead, players will control either Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing or Red Hood in order to protect Gotham from the criminal underworld.

Whilst fans know who they’ll be playing as, not much is known about who they will be fighting against. Released in August 2020, the world premier trailer ended with a mysterious masked figure emerge spring onto our screens.

Comic fans will recognise this man as a member of the ominous Court of Owls, an organised crime group and secret society made up of wealthy Gothamites.

Not as infamous as other Batman foes like the Joker or Penguin, The Court of Owls are yet to have made their presence known in any videogame. WB Games Montreal look to change this, so lets have a look at how they’re going by doing so.

Who Are The Court Of Owls?

As mentioned above, The Court of Owls are an elitist group of Gothamites lurking in the criminal underbelly of Gotham City.

According to the comics, they have secretly existed in Gotham since colonial times by using murder and money to wield political influence throughout history.

To ensure their interests, they kidnap child performers from the circus and raise them to become highly trained assassins known as Talons.

It goes without saying they aren’t the nicest group going and will prove to be a fierce adversary for the Bat Family. The nursery rhyme below sums up their interests pretty nicely:

Beware the Court of Owls, that watches all the time,
Ruling Gotham from a shadowed perch, behind granite and lime.
They watch you at your hearth, they watch you in your bed.
Speak not a whispered word about them, or they’ll send the Talon for your head.

Creepy, huh.

The Marketing Begins

Gotham Knights’ pre-announcement marketing consisted of cryptic  teases that hinted at a Court of Owls game in some respect.

Unsurprisingly, fans assumed this would be a Batman focused game where he takes them on himself. As we now know, this isn’t the case.

With the game set to make an appearance for the upcoming DCFanDome, Warner Bros. have sent out ‘invitations’ to fans who are registered as WB partners.

What’s in the box, I hear you ask?

They include a copy of the Gotham Gazette (with Bruce Waynes death headline news), a regal invitation to a masquerade ball and an Owl mask to complete the recipients fictional initiation into the mysterious group.

Luckily for us, twitter user James Singfield decided to go the extra mile to even reveal who the masquerade ball is held for. It seems it is being held in memoriam for the deceased Bruce Wayne who ,despite his fate, looks set to still  play a major role in the games narrative.

Coming full circle, the invitation is hosted by the First Families of Gotham Foundation which further indicates the Courts involvement.

The video game that has taken the world by storm is getting its own movie. Minecraft is a sandbox video game that lets players build and create different constructions out of different blocks. Now the game has made it to the big screen.

The Minecraft movie has been confirmed for release on May 24^th 2019. The news was revealed on the Mojang blog by Vu Bui, the COO of Mojang. He said, “Yes, that might seem like a long time away, but it just so happens to be the right amount of time to make it completely awesome.”

The movie will be produced by Warner Bros. and will be released in 3D and IMAX.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an upcoming British film inspired by the Harry Potter books from J. K. Rowling. The writer has decided to create a spin-off to the much loved Harry Potter film series after the story ended five years ago. This is J. K. Rowling’s first time at screenwriting and will be the first film in a trilogy.

The first Harry Potter book was written nearly twenty years ago now, back in 1997. The first book was titled, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and instantly became a success. In 2000 J. K. Rowling released her fourth Harry Potter book, gaining more and more fans as the books were being released. With the huge popularity of the books, J. K. Rowling sold the film rights for the Harry Potter books to Warner Bros.

After the final Harry Potter film came out in 2011, fans have wondered whether they will see anything like it again, or a sequel to the hugely loved franchise. Fans were ecstatic to find out that a prequel to Harry Potter was coming to the big screen and it looks incredible.

Fantastic Beasts will focus on a man named Newt Scamander and his adventures among the secret community of the wizards and witches among New York in 1926. Newt is a writer and his work is read by Harry Potter when he is at Hogwarts a whole seventy years after this story is set.

Newt carries a briefcase around with him, this briefcase is a magically expanding briefcase and holds a number of very dangerous beasts and creatures. When the creatures escape the briefcase, it leaves a devastating effect on the wizard community of New York.

The story being set so far before the events in Harry Potter is a really good idea. It will show the wizarding world before Harry Potter even existed. It will be really cool, I can’t wait for the release.
