We love a ranking list down here at go2games, and things aren’t going to change anytime soon. As January is essentially a horror month when we own up to how much we spent over Christmas, why not delve into one highly successful survival game- Dead By Daylight. It only seems appropriate, doesn’t it?

For the last five years, horror fans have been treated to this multiplayer survival horror experience. Its managed to keep us on the edge of our seats since then, by constantly innovating the game play mechanics and killer characters. The roster of survivors and killers continues to impress us all these years later, and is one of the reasons we’re always so eager to jump back in.

For those unfamiliar with the title, Dead by Daylight sees four survivors play against a killer at the command of a bloodthirsty supernatural being called the Entity. In each game, one killer is tasked with chasing, injuring, and then sacrificing survivors to the Entity before they can escape the map. As you can imagine, it’s quite the intense experience. If survivors are to evade sacrifice, they must combine forces and try to start five randomly placed generators through a sequence of skill tests. If they’re able to do this, two exit gates will subsequently open, which creates a mad desperate sprint to the safe zone whilst trying to dodge the killer.

Who could this killer be, we hear you ask? Whilst new players only have a limited set of killers to choose from, you can boost your selection with in-game currency or by buying specific DLCs. Moreover, Dead By Daylight has seen some of cinema’s most monstrous foes enter the frame, with the likes of The Cenobite from Hellraiser and Michael Myers from Halloween making their appearances.

Despite this, not all killers come with the same equal abilities. For example, each killer may have different combinations of the game’s key variables. These include map control, danger, perks, add-ons and powers. Therefore, we’ve decided to compile a list of the top five so you know which ones to jump straight onto! Without further a do, let’s jump straight into it then shall we!Dead by Daylight's anniversary event gives free shards, bloodpoints - Polygon

5. The Blight- Talbot Grimes

What a worthy start to our list. Talbot Grimes score some bonus points to sneak into the top five due to their versatility. They’re able to rebound off objects to target survivors, which makes them terrifying from any angle. Additionally, when the chain rush skills are mastered, well who can really stop them? Despite the length of time need to perfect it, it’s undoubtedly time well spent.

Jump scares can be horrifying if executed properly. The Hag is literally just one big jump scare, and I’ll tell you know she gets me every single time. if you’re one of the unfortunate ones to fall into her traps, well then God help you, because she teleports within forty metres. She’s the reason why every step in Dead By Daylight matters.

3. The Nightmare- Freddy Krueger

You’re not even safe in your dreams when this one is about. The Nightmare on Elm Street is as deadly here as he is in the films, with his access to the game’s Dream World through teleportation making him a frightening force to be reckoned with. If a survivor dares fall asleep, he’ll be there waiting for you. Once again, this is a killer who takes time to perfect, but once done, its nigh on impossible to stop him. Good Luck.

2. The Spirit- Rin Yamaoka

Here we are now, the top two! In all honesty, any killer in this top five can be interchangeable, and they’re all deadly foes in their own right. However, there has to be a winner. Unfortunately, Yamoaka doesn’t quite take the top spot, but that doesn’t make them any less impressive. The phase walk, which allows you to wander unseen through the Trial Grounds, can catch any survivor by surprise. This’ll make the Spirits presence known way too late, allowing easy pickings of survivors. Brilliant.HWYB Rin Yamaoka from Dead By Daylight as a monster? : Tabletop games : r/WhatWouldYouBuild

1. The Nurse- Sally Smithson

So here it is, our winner! A worthy one at that! What can the Nurse not do, that’s the question. She can teleport around the map, through obstacles, is  challenging to loop and pointless to block with pallets. If you’re one of the remaining survivors and happen to bump into her… well there’s really not much you can do.

What’d you think of our ranking then? Would there be any of the other 21 characters you’d have in your top five? Let us know in the comments down below.
