The word Beta is screaming out here for Battlefield 2042. Please remember before the critics come running out and disowning a game a month before the official release. This is for testing bugs of the final product, and there may well be bugs at launch; luckily, it’s 2021, and fixes will be available. DICE themselves have already stated that the Beta is ‘months old’ and the wrinkles should be ironed out by release or already have been.

The time for eager fans of games to hype up release so much that if it’s not perfect on release is a terrible game should be a thing of the past. This ought to have been learned a year ago.   

So far, the gameplay is a refreshing take on the FPS game industry needed since Battlefield 4 was released in 2014.

Apart from the occasional frame drops, no other bugs were experienced from the first play. However, after a few hours of extensive gameplay, more became apparent. Bright flickering randomly and a wobbly screen whilst a passenger in offensive vehicles were the most notable.

The map, Orbital, is massive and, so far, haven’t managed to traverse through most of it, mostly lingering around the rocket to catch a glimpse of it taking off. This I managed to gain from a front-row seat, ziplining up the metal structure close to the event, and pitching a tent. Yes, it got a bit boring, but I did catch the occasional opposition players off guard when trying to do the same. It’s good to note here that this event is random and doesn’t happen in every game.

The event is so immersive, and the DualShock 5 came into its element with its haptic feedback function. This function did have a mind of its own, though, as sometimes would switch off completely. The rocket can also be destroyed mid-take-off via player interaction.

The guns shot through the PlayStations Dual Shock 5 controller feels solid and realistic to the feel. Still, the adaptive trigger doesn’t seem to be utilised so far, something that many decide to disable anyway, especially if it’s as distracting as to how strong Call of Duty Cold War made it.

The plus system is excellent! The smoothness of this system is a crucial factor here. From experience, there was no lag time and didn’t hinder performance. Obviously, there’s a time, and a place to be using this, in the middle of a gunfight wouldn’t be ideal. Switching the attachments for the positions you find yourself in, whether close quarters, mid-range or long distance, there are attachments available for all. The one problem experienced, though, was sometimes selecting a specific attachment would fail and select the next one, but quickly rectifiable.

The post Battlefield 2042’s Beta is live, and we’ve jumped straight into the battle on PS5 first appeared on Get2Gaming.

PlayStation Now has long lived in the shadow of the Xbox Game Pass, providing better services for their customers with the content handed out, pushing Xbox users to believe that the subscription service is a necessary part of owning the console. Unfortunately, Sony’s service hasn’t had the same impact since its launch in 2014.

Back 4 Blood, Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite are already available to Xbox Game Pass members to pre-download, leaving PS Now members scratching their heads as to why they get left in the dark with old titles for streaming.

Although some of them have been great on PS Now, including, a game of the year, God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn, now, these are all fantastic games. If you’ve not given them a go, they’re all worth it, but there is no competition compared to some of Xbox’s biggest titles being made available to its game pass subscribers.

One of Sony’s most prolific games is now coming to the subscription service, The Last of Us 2. A storyline that is currently being made into a featured series. Ellie and Joel’s story, their battle against infected, mutated monsters, and their unmutated counterparts. Although the first instalment had Ellie and Joel traversing through the apocalyptic world in search of a notorious group of survivors, the second takes a much darker spin on the popular game, playing as different characters to read two individual stories as they happen simultaneously.

As well as The Last of Us 2, multiple other games joined the subscription service this month. These include Fallout 76, Final Fantasy 8: Remastered, Amnesia: Collection, Desperados 3, Yet Another Zombie Defence HD and Victor Vran: Overkill Edition. Again, it might be biased, but there’s only one standout game involved here. You can see a more detailed description of these titles here.

Although new titles aren’t readily available as a subscription service, classic fan favourites such as Oblivion and Star Wars the Force Unleashed are streamable. Among these are hundreds of other games on the streaming service. So all may not be lost for Sony’s attempt at this service.

Seeing the success of Xbox Game Pass, Sony is attempting the same, even if they may be a few steps behind in the process, for the price of it (£8.99 a month) and the number of titles at the click of a button, it’s got to be worth it surely?

Call of Duty fans online are speculating that this year’s Halloween event is coming soon due to a minor discovery on a fan favourite map, Nuketown.

Last year saw Verdansk turn into ‘The Haunting of Verdansk’ and lasted between October the 20th to November the 3rd last year. Along with a specific battle royale zombie mode, the normal map was filled with loot boxes with jump scares randomly screaming down the headset leaving the CoD community eagerly awaiting this year’s Halloween instalment.

The clue from the popular map is a trick or treat bucket, a relatively small easter egg that isn’t interactable, but players will read into anything to piece a story together, even if it may not be there. The bucket is full of sweets and has a jack-o-lantern face with the design set to fit with the Nuketown theme.

Not a lot to go off but seeing as it’s that time of year, the event is most likely coming soon. Possibly leading to more mini easter eggs in other maps in the build-up. Some fans speculating that a Halloween themed Nuketown map is on the verge of release, which isn’t a rogue guess as of last Christmas, a festive theme was installed into the map.

The Halloween event has been officially announced via the Call of Duty road map, shared by Activision previously. The event is named ‘The Haunting’ and is due to go live on October the 19th. As with every special event in the world of Call of Duty, there will be limited-time rewards available via the event, most likely leading to mass hot drops around Verdansk in a frenzy to attain the rewards.

Hopefully, like last year we’ll see a dark version of Verdansk go live again.

The new season begins on October the 7th, along with a new battle pass to work through if you choose to participate. This season may well be a significant build-up to the spooky event for 2021.

Pro Evolution Soccer and Fifa games have been battling it out each year for the crown of the top football game, clearly being won by the latter for the long term. However, this year PES and Konami have taken a different approach to the franchise. A free to play game, named eFootball, is already gathering some attention from the online community, and not for the right reasons.

Steam 250’s review system is traversed by many gamers to leave their thoughts, good or bad, on any game they link; and so far, eFootball has scored a measly 9% and at the time of writing has 9,872 votes, 881 of these being positive. However, the legitimacy of the favourable votes is up in the air, as the Steam community can be comedic geniuses at times.

The spin on PES was released on September the 30th, and Twitter is littered with images of players faces that are not so authentic. This figure on Steam is lower than the previous worst listed game, Flatout 3, which scored a total of 15%. It may be free to play game, but if the quality of the graphics is laughable with crazy microtransactions intertwined into the gameplay to buy “eFootball 2022 Premium Player Packs”, some of which can’t be accessed until an update goes live in November.  

With the release of Fifa 22 today and its positive feedback from the community so far, it looks as though Fifa will be retaking the crown this year. Comparisons are being made between the two-player game faces of two of the biggest names in football. Cristiano Ronaldo and an ambassador of the game, Lionel Messi.

Twitter isn’t a safe space for trolling at the best of times, and Konami feels the brunt of that now with these comparisons. Konami used face-scanning technology to create a lifelike version of the Argentinian superstar, whilst EA did not. Evidently, EA has done a better job here.

So far, the gameplay and graphics are nothing to scream about either if the reviews are anything to by. One Steam user, who goes by ‘Eluryh’ comment read, “If I go to replay during a match and I zoom to the faces of the players, graphics seem fine. However, when playing, the game seems to run at a much lower resolution. I’m playing with an RTX 3090, and it looks like a Playstation 2 game.” Not such a great depiction for the brand-new release. Another user, ‘AmoManiaK’, backed up this claim by saying,

“I’m playing on my CX OLED and RTX 3090, and I swear games on PS2 looked better. Ridiculous!”

It’s a good job eFootball is a free to play game, because there would most likely be a lot of refunds If not.

Next month, there will be an update, but the player base may well be lost by then and switched their allegiance to Fifa 22, as its refreshing new gameplay is getting some good feedback. On the other hand, Konami did state on August the 2nd that the launch of eFootball would be “basically a demo” with a “limited number of teams and modes.” The update for the title is set to come “later this Autumn”, and a clear roadmap for the game’s direction from Konami has been laid out.

Some of these include,

• Console and PC graphics won’t be downgraded when playing against mobile players
• The game will include matchmaking filters so you can play against people on the same system
• Master League mode will be added as paid DLC in the future
• Edit mode and option files will be added as a free update for PS5, PS4 and PC after launch
• The game will have free and paid ‘Match Passes’ which let players nominate and acquire specific players based on matches played

Although the game is free at launch, paid modes will be included eventually, possibly winding up the fan base some more in the process. It’s going to be an interesting year for the new take on PES. It’ll be intriguing to see how it goes and whether the variation of the game carries on past the 21/22 season. EFootball is set to be released on iOS and Android as well later in the year, but for now, is available on all console platforms and PC.

Battlefield 2042 is now well known to be a month delayed from October 22nd to November 19th, stating that Covid-19 is the main reason for the dates change.

Although no news was shared on the beta from DICE Studios. The beta was expected to be postponed, though, once the official announcing of the delay of the entire game was made public. However, for fans who have pre-ordered and eagerly await the beta access, there’s now some hope that the beta is not a long way off after the original beta was set to go live in September.

Chinese video-sharing platform Bilibili has leaked dates for the beta and is supposedly set to begin on October 6th for pre-order players and then open to the masses from October 8th. Previously, a well-known leaker of gaming and “unofficial Head of Community Management at EA” Tom Henderson stated earlier in September that these were the dates for the beta release thus confirming his information.

Couple of things;

It says events from Oct 6th – 9th (doesn't mean the Beta ends then).

It’s from the Bilibili live stream page, and BF2042 was recently added to the general categories section.

Now Bilibili is an official video sharing platform, which DICE do have an account on, so the leak is coming from a reliable source. Hopefully, this rumour becomes a reality, though, as Battlefield fans are very eager to get stuck into the content.

The Call of Duty community is never one to shy away when they are unhappy. Unfortunately, with Warzones latest update, there isn’t any change there, as some people’s version of the game is totally “unplayable”. A post from a Reddit user below shows the troubles experienced.

The update that went live on Thursday the 23rd of September seems to have made some gamers versions unplayable, with some claiming that their frame rate has dropped as low as 14FPS. The update meant to make some changes to the new Iron Trials Mode, a massive hit with more serious players, taking annoying specs out such as dead silence and stopping power. Still, for more casual players, the adoration for the mode isn’t reciprocated.

The lag isn’t just in-game either; the menu screen is struggling with the same problems. It just might be the time to stay off Warzone until this gets sorted out. Hopefully, Raven Software get word of this and address it quickly because there’s nothing more frustrating than losing 1v1’s just because of a jittery screen.

Nothing official yet, though, as Raven would usually tweet if they know something is amiss so that players may be stuck with this unplayable game for some time. With updates and weapon patches happening every week, it’s no surprise that these continuous tweaks can rearrange certain other aspects of the game.

With such an intricate, substantial online multiplayer game, keeping every cog turning perfectly whilst attempting to mend a few others must be challenging, so blunders here and there are expected. The developers are still only human, after all.

Sometimes, the best thing to do as a fan of a series is to take a break from the game and come back after experiencing a new game. New games are on the horizon, and Fifa 22 is out this Friday; give that a try until a fix is confirmed. The post Call of Duty Warzone’s Latest Patch Is Causing Trouble For Some Gamers first appeared on Get2Gaming.

The September 2021 Nintendo Direct had some exciting news for its fanbase this year. Everyone’s favourite pair of Italian plumbers are hitting the big screens, along with the rest of the smash bro’s friends and enemies.

The studio working on the animation for the feature-length film is Illumination, the production company behind the loveable super-villain Gru in Despicable Me and his little yellow friends.

Anything more than a ‘yippee’ or a ‘wahoo’ from the brothers in the games is a rarity. So to hear their voices spoke through the likes of Chris Pratt as Mario (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Charlie Day as Luigi (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Horrible Bosses) being cast as the pair it should make for a hilarious film, or weird we’ll see.

Both with comedic backgrounds their sure to integrate their sense of humour into the roles. Toad, the mini mushroom man, is played by actor and comedian Keegan Michael Key, making an exhilarating trio of comedians. The inside of the recording studio with these three would be comedy gold.

Don’t worry; the rest of the cast is just as exciting with Anya Taylor (The Queens Gambit, Peaky Blinders) as Peach. Mostly known for her serious roles in dramas, and perhaps that’s why she was cast.

Jack Black (Tenacious D, King Kong) will be playing Bowser, a fitting role for the entertainer, while Seth Rogan (Pineapple Express, Superbad) will be playing Donkey Kong.

No footage or voice acting is released yet, and the plot for the movie is yet to be seen, but if there’s one thing for sure is that you can place a bet on Bowser whisking Peach away from Mario and his pals at some point, for Mario and co to save her from peril.

A diverse, star-studded cast have the opportunity to portray one of the most famous teams of video game characters of all time, so all being well, it will be good or at least better than the last attempt.

Netflix, one of the leading providers of entertainment services, is venturing into the world of video games. A pioneer in home entertainment and looking to continue the trend. In July 2021, they announced that video games were on the agenda and will be added at no extra charge. Now announcing a VR experience for owners of an Oculus VR headset.

Soon you’ll be scrolling aimlessly for something to watch and come across the video game section just as if you were discovering a new under the radar series.

The VR title named Eden Unearthed is influenced by the Netflix series Eden. However, there’s not too much information on the title; however, a few snippets are out there.

The world of Eden Unearthed and the parallel animated series is set a millennium after humanity went extinct on Earth. Set in a thriving city, not with life, but robots known as Eden 3.

The aim of the game is to travel around on a Tron-like motorcycle through the world, collecting necessities such as fuel and food whilst keeping momentum to the maximum, or reaping the consequences. Sounds like a Grand Theft Auto mission from GTA: Vice City (IF you know, you know).

There is a release date set for April 21st. So not long before it will be available to the masses, most likely to be released first in the US. Netflix has been trialling a gaming service in Poland since earlier this year, starting with a couple of Stranger Things games, Stranger Things 3 and Stranger Thing:1984.

A plus for now is that micro-transactions won’t be a part of this method of gaming. However, this isn’t a permanent promise though.

Great news for subscribers to the service, although splashing out for an Oculus VR headset may set you back a bit more in one hit.

Fortnite creators Epic Games and the goliath Apple have been locked in a heated legal battle since 2020 regarding the popular game’s creators discovering a loophole in which Apple could be cut out of microtransaction’s via an external link.

Unfortunately, for fans of the iOS version on the unreal engine, you’ll be disappointed as it may not return for at least five years, or even not at all.

In a spat of released emails and public tweets, it’s clear to see the relationship between the two companies is at an all-time low. Even after Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney publicly apologised and stated to Apple App Store leader Phil Schiller, “Epic promises that it will adhere to Apple’s guidelines whenever and wherever we release production Apple platform.” Although Sweeney did follow up with that, it “depends on whether and where Apple updates its guidelines to provide for a level playing field between Apple In-App purchase and other methods of payment.” Clearly not backing down completely for their reasoning for bypassing the App store process in the first place. Elon Musk has publicly back Epic games stance on Apple’s App Store fees as

“a de facto global tax on the internet.”

Musk sometimes rial’s up the wrong foes but may have a point when you see Epic Games proposed microtransaction fees once they get back up and running (Image above), which they are trying to currently in South Korea.

Sweeney has also pleaded with Apple to reinstate Epic’s development account, which is necessary for any App creator to continue running on iOS. This is most likely not going to happen soon as the attorney representing Apple has specified this wouldn’t be considered until the legal war between the two “becomes final and non-appealable.” This being in the early stages, having happened in 2020, is a long way off. On Wednesday, a tweet went out from Apple, which said, “Fortnite will be blacklisted from the Apple ecosystem until the exhaustion of all court appeals.” Court cases such as this tend to drag on unless an agreement can be met between the two companies.

Epic has been cooperative through the process, though. In an email between the two representatives of the companies, Sweeny said, “though we can’t update the Fortnite version that users still have on their iOS devices, we’ve disabled Epic payments server-side and have paid Apple $6,000,000 as ordered by the court.” To no breakthrough, though, as Apple is standing firm with their views, standing strong that there are security risks with alternate payment methods through the App Store.

Whilst South Korea could be seeing a return to Fortnite through iOS in the future, it’s unforeseen whether the rest of the iOS users will be privileged to gain access to it once again.

Impatient FIFA 22 players can get early access from today, the 22nd of September and is able to be downloaded now. 10 hours of gameplay to get stuck into; progress from these hours carry over once the 1st of October comes around, whether you want to kick off you’re FUT or upgrade a pro clubs player.

If pre-ordering isn’t for you, then that’s great because no pre-order is required. So, in a way is a demo of the entire game to try before you buy.

PlayStation and PC users will have to be subscribed to EA Play to gain access to early access. However, a special offer for the first month is currently only 79p, which can just be unsubscribed if it’s not needed after the 10 hours of play. Alternatively, if Xbox is the console of choice, a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is all you need as EA play comes along with this.

The first full release for the next-gen consoles (FIFA 21 was upgraded halfway through the season) comes with more intelligent AI. EA has named this new tech “HyperMotion technology”, meaning that the AI players will learn as they play, without scripted animations, to produce the most authentic gaming experience possible.

EA described it as,

“a cutting-edge proprietary machine-learning algorithm learns from over 8.7 million frames of advanced match capture, then writes new animations in real-time to create organic football realism across a variety of interactions on the pitch.”

Bold words from EA; hopefully, these claims are backed up in-game.
The statement carried on,

“learning from more than 8.7 million frames from advanced 11v11 match capture, the ML – Flow machine learning algorithm writes new animations in real-time, enabling players to better adjust their stride and running cadence on approach to the ball to control or strike it more smoothly.”
