Nintendo Switch And Xbox Outsell PS5 - Get2Gaming

The Christmas sales rivalry is well and truly underway now! Arguably the most important time of the year for video game consoles, this is certainly when the fun begins. It has now been reported that both the Nintendo Switch the Xbox X/S have outsold the PS5 this November.

Why exactly is November the big month though? It is mainly because of the Americans, who buy up the game consoles and games to give as gifts around the Holiday seasons. Obviously, the UK and many other nations do that too, but the fact Thanksgiving is in November is part of the reason why the US are the main component. That and they love to game, of course.

Well Sony look away now, because it seems that your rivals are dominating the sales. Nintendo themselves have apparently sold over 1 million Switch consoles last month alone. Hopefully, all the new owners took our advice too on the best Switch gifts this Christmas! If not, well they’ve only got themselves to blame for those disapproving glances on the morning of the 25th. Don’t come crying to me!maxresdefault (4)

PlayStation 5 Still Struggling For Availability More Than Year After Release

Now, now Nintendo and Microsoft fans. Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves just yet. Whilst it is definitely impressive you’ve managed to outsell Sony this festive period, there is indeed one major factor contributing to this outcome. That is, for some strange reason with a global chip shortage, Sony have struggled to meet the demands for their latest console.

Whilst we did report last month they were hoping to sort this shortage, it quickly became clear that is was simply not possible. This has been a particularly annoying gripe for many PlayStation lovers for a while now, as they simply can’t get their hands on the console. As a result, gamers could very well have changed allegiances and decided to go over to a rival firm.

“It’s all about stock,” said NPD Group video game analyst Mat Piscatella. “The console with the most units in market will lead the charts. Will likely be the case for a long while.”

In addition to this, price also plays a major factor in the decisive battle round the Holidays, especially during COVID times. Many people have lost their jobs or had their industries deeply affected by the virus, meaning they just can’t afford the more expensive consoles anymore.

Nintendo’s Switch starts at $200 for the Lite model and maxes out at $350 for the new OLED version. This is easily the cheapest console compared to the Microsoft and Sony consoles, which both come in at $400+.

Overall, it looks like Sony are going to have to do some catching up this Christmas time. Which console will you be playing over the holidays this year?
