About a year ago Microsoft Acquired Zenimax media, who are the parent company of bethesda. With that in mind, on of the earliest Concerns was that this would mean that Bethesda games would be Xbox Exclusive and, atleast at the time, the general tone coming from microsoft was “no”… but it was always a big of a tentative “no” with like ten asterisks and that asked you to sign a waver.

Well it has recently come out that the plan is to make the Highly anticipated Elder Scrolls 6 an Xbox and PC exclusive. The game will not be coming to Playstation, (at least not at launch, in recent times we have seen some console exclusives make the jump to being multiplatform after a few years).

The official line from Phil Spence, head of Xbox, is that this is being done to aid compatibility and integration with Xbox Live, Game pass. Xbox Cloud Gaming, Etc. 

Now this does leave a few questions hanging, such as “ok so its going to be on PC, but where on PC? Microsoft store only, or also available through steam? What about epic store”. Right now we obviously don’t have answers, especially given how far off Elder Scrolls 6 is, but judging by Microsoft Putting Halo MCC and Halo Infinite on steam I personally feel its reasonable to assume that Steam users will be able to buy the games on their preferred platform. As for the epic games store side of things, I can’t say. I don’t have an epic games store account out of principle.

As for the Exclusives, and again, this is an opinion piece, don’t shoot me, but as a PC gamer predominantly… I don’t like exclusivity at the best of times. In my opinion, Consoles should be sold on Function and Hardware more than “look at all these games you can only play if you buy our box”. The console exclusivity mindset does not help the end consumer, all it does is net these already wealthy companies more money.

That said, this is… Partially Sony’s fault. Sony where really the ones pushing the “exclusives over all else” ideology last generation, and even as they have started to port their games to PC they have really hunkered down in that mindset, With Sony being the last to adopt Cross platform play, even after Old man Nintendo had already agreed to do it, and it is rumored that Sony even make developers pay to have cross platform enabled.

Does sonys actions make Microsoft making TES6 an exclusive justified? No, generally I would argue against “eye for an eye” mentality like that, but it does go to a level to maybe explain why this has happened.

With the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Vanguard not far off at all now. Sledgehammer Games have revealed what exclusive bonuses will be available for players who pick up the PlayStation version of the latest CoD title.

In the Battle Pass bundle, PlayStation fans can look forward to monthly double XP events, more custom loadout slots, and five tier skips. This was announced on the PlayStation Blog and recounted by CharlieIntel below. Those who play on a PlayStation console will also receive a new Combat Pack for each new season (PS Plus members only). As well as an additional 25% weapon XP boost while playing in a group with friends.

Call of Duty’s Exclusivity History

Activision and Sony have an agreement in place that allows PlayStation players to access content before other platforms, and Vanguard is the latest in the series to carry on this tradition. Previously, PlayStation had early access to Vanguard’s Champion Hill mode, while the beta was first available on PlayStation before being made available on Xbox and PC.

According to a new video for Vanguard, the PlayStation-exclusive content will not be available on Xbox or PC for at least a year.

Microsoft had a relationship with Activision for Call of Duty exclusivity for years before Sony took it away from the Xbox business with Black Ops III in 2015. Since then, every PlayStation game has included some type of unique content, and Destiny did as well when it was released by Activision.

Vanguard is set to be released on November 5, and it isn’t the only major event for Call of Duty this year. To correspond with the WWII theme, the battle royale game Warzone is launching a brand-new map, Caldera, and changing its name to Warzone Pacific. In addition, with the acquisition of Digital Legends, Activision is really stepping up its efforts in the mobile market for Call of Duty.

The post Call of Duty: Vanguard PlayStation Exclusive Content Revealed first appeared on Get2Gaming.

The app will give players their first proper look at the upcoming game.

In a recent tweet, developer Blue Box Games confirmed that “the Realtime Experience patch will be available universally on August 10th.” Access to the app kicks off at 20:00 BST, but according to Comicbook, PS5 owners can pre-load the experience right now.

As for what you can expect from the experience, it’s still not completely clear. Blue Box says that there’ll be an “opening teaser as an introduction” and that players will “get a glimpse to [sic] ‘what you see is what you play,’ along with some announcements to look out for.”

In a prior thread, the developer said that the experience will offer the first dose of both the “high-end graphics” on offer and gameplay.

The studio says that features like this have only been made possible by the PS5’s SSD. While you’ll find the content included within the experience online after the event, the app will provide the best experience.

The arrival of the Realtime Experience comes at the end of a difficult few months for Abandoned. Rumours that the game and its developers were fronts for the next Hideo Kojima project have been swirling since the title’s announcement. Blue Box has consistently denied those rumours, but the extra attention caused plenty of distraction that game director Hasan Kahraman says hurt development. The title also had content leaked over the last few weeks which the developer had to address.

Big news today from the world of FIFA as EA Sports announce that women’s football legend Alex Scott will be featured as a commentator in the soon-to-be-released FIFA 22! She is set to become the famous franchise’s first-ever English-speaking female commentator.

During her playing career, Scott was a five-time Premier League winner and a seven-time FA Cup winner with Arsenal, a runner up in the Women’s Euros and a member of the England team that finished third in the 2015 Women’s World Cup, making 140 appearances for her country.

“This is a big moment for FIFA, for football and women and girls across the world,” said Alex Scott, speaking earlier today. “Representation is crucial and the inclusion of an English-speaking female commentator on FIFA is game-changing. The impact it will have is simply stratospheric”.

Scott currently plies her trade on the BBC, having provided expert punditry on the channel’s recently concluded Euro 2020 coverage and is set to take over the anchor role on Football Focus this year.

EA Sports are yet to confirm whether gamers will be able to play as women’s club teams, having been able to play only as women’s international teams in recent iterations of the iconic football game.

“Zeus! Your son has returned! I bring the destruction of Olympus!”

We can now see Kratos’ return on the horizon, except this time he brings the destruction of Asgard. Delayed into 2022, we are yet to receive any news or content of real substance regarding the upcoming God of War sequel. Well, this could change soon. A new God of War: Ragnarok trailer is rumoured to be around the corner.

As reported by The Gamer, gaming leaker QuimSix shared on Reddit that we will be seeing a new Ragnarok trailer in August, a mere few weeks away. We could see it being released potentially as part of a future Sony State of Play presentation showcasing upcoming PS5 titles. Anything released by leakers should always be taken with a pinch of salt; however, QuimSix’s track record is rather impressive. The leaker correctly predicted the date of Sony’s most recent State of Play showcase and has also shared accurate details regarding the upcoming Far Cry 6 game.

QuimSix also suggested we could be seeing a Horizon Forbidden West trailer, alongside some new GTA V trailers for the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.

Sony notably skipped E3’s showcase entirely this year, keeping their cards close to their chest and withholding content for their own individual events. God of War is one such game that they are purposely shrouding in mystery, building up the suspense.

The wait for God of War: Ragnarok has been trying for many fans, to say the least. As previously mentioned, the game was slated for release this year but was delayed into 2022, with the details released so far being minuscule (see below).

Whether we get to see a new God of War: Ragnarok trailer in a few weeks or not, the hype for the PS5 sequel is undoubtedly high. 2018’s God of War successfully rebooted the series with a gaming classic. We saw a matured Kratos trying to traverse the difficult terrain of fatherhood. The father-son dynamic we saw was one we could not have imagined from the Kratos of previous games. As such, we are eager to see how this dynamic develops, and of course, we are desperate to see what the most recent games’ ending means for our beloved father-son duo.

With every acquisition comes more exclusives…

Xbox has notoriously acquired multiple studios over the last few years in a frighteningly aggressive fashion. They have bought up developers like Obsidian Entertainment, Ninja Theory, Playground Games, Double Fine, and Bethesda.

Their acquisition of Bethesda in March of this year was one of their most notable acquisitions. It came as part of their $7.5 billion purchase of Bethesda’s parent company, ZeniMax Media.

ZeniMax owns multiple developers, including id Software (developer of the Doom, Quake and Rage series), Arkane Studios (developer of Dishonored and Prey), MachineGames (developer of the Wolfenstein series), Tango Gameworks (developer of The Evil Within), ZeniMax Online Studios (developer of The Elder Scrolls Online), and publisher Bethesda Softworks with its critically acclaimed Bethesda Game Studios (developer of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series).

As a result of these purchases, Xbox can now dictate whether new titles produced by these studios are exclusive to their console; unless there is any prior agreement with Sony or Nintendo. For example, the recently acquired Obsidian Entertainment’s Outer Worlds 2 (revealed at E3, 2021) will be an Xbox (and PC) exclusive, despite its predecessor being available on PlayStation.This makes their acquisition of Bethesda even more significant due to the widespread popularity of Bethesda games. We are now seeing big upcoming Bethesda titles such as Starfield (also revealed at E3, 2021) being released as Xbox (and PC) exclusives and, dare I say it, the much-desired Elder Scrolls 6 could also follow suit.

Of course, it is unlikely that this will be the case for every title from one of their owned studios due to the missed revenue opportunities from selling games on PlayStation and vice versa with PlayStation acquisitions/exclusives. However, in terms of Bethesda titles, why wouldn’t Microsoft make Bethesda games Xbox exclusive? You wouldn’t spend $7.5 billion on one of the world’s top game studios and not utilise it in bolstering your competitive advantage wherever possible. These games are enormous customer draws, and sadly, for such games, this means a lot of console exclusivity.

In a recent interview with IGN, Xbox boss Phil Spencer discusses some of the controversies regarding acquisitions and ultimately, details why he believes it to be a “natural and healthy” part of the industry:

“Sometimes I see dialogue out in the industry about, ‘Well, are acquisitions a good thing or a bad thing?'” Spencer says. “I saw Sony just announced a couple acquisitions and saying congrats to those teams on that,” he adds, referring to the news of Returnal developer Housemarque joining PlayStation Studios.

He goes on to say, “I understand some of the sentiment from the community when acquisitions happen, but one thing I’ll put out there is that starting a new studio – starting any small business, frankly – is a very risky proposition. Starting a video game studio even more so. And if a team actually takes the risk of starting a new company, starting a studio, building that over the years, building value in that, to say that they shouldn’t sell, I think, is just short-sighted.”

He quickly adds, “it doesn’t mean every team has to end up selling their studio” but described the “cycle” of new studios growing to the point that they can find success, whether through an acquisition or independence, as a “natural and healthy part of our industry.”

He is seemingly viewing acquisitions solely from an economic perspective. Whether they are good news or not depends on what lens you look through. The truth is that with every acquisition comes the increased probability of more exclusives and whether exclusives are, in fact, “healthy” is up for debate. They are healthy for the industry from a business/economic viewpoint in that they drive up competition, which is good for the market. However, from this perspective, too many acquisitions from one company could damage the industry in the long run. Similarly, from an economic perspective, you could argue the exclusive-fueled intensified competition benefits the customer, as competition translates to increased quality, quantity and better prices.

A simple gaming fan’s viewpoint is dependent on the acquiring company and the console you have previously sided with. As Spencer mentioned, Sony themselves have also made their own acquisitions (although not on the same scale as Xbox and none of the magnitude of Bethesda). They have their own blockbuster exclusives maintaining their prestigious platform. Whether you miss out on certain games is dependent on the acquiring company and your console.

In this particular case, PlayStation or Switch owning Bethesda fans are in an undesirable position. Xbox now holds the keys to some of the most influential titles ever through acquiring Bethesda, and it is hard to see why Xbox wouldn’t make these titles exclusive. This seems even more probable when you consider that Xbox has lacked attractive exclusives compared to PlayStation in recent years. Spencer’s response that it is “healthy and natural” does little to nothing in easing the concerns of non-Xbox gaming fans. Bethesda games, which often represent true gaming craftmanship, should be experienced by all. What it comes down to is excluding people from experiencing historical games. Ultimately, therefore, I believe acquisitions of this magnitude, yes, could be healthy from an economic perspective, which is what I believe Spencer was referring to. However, from the point of view of a fan, who simply wants to experience all titles like these, it is the complete opposite.

Hi friends, I’m really excited to be writing my first post on the Go2games blog!

Blogs are amazing platforms to share knowledge, ideas and personal thoughts. Firstly I want to start off by introducing myself, my name is Teneil I am 21 years old and I am part of the social media administration team at Go2Games! I would get straight into telling you my first tasks of the day but I would be lying if i didn’t tell you that it started with a Spiced Chai Latte lol. My day started at 10am posting the new 60 seconds news video on twitter and Tik Tok, my colleague Tanisha manages the other social media platforms e.g. Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat.

I actually got to sit behind the scenes whilst Ron, Toby and Sam from the post production team filmed the news episodes which was a really cool experience!

I later followed with uploading Daily Deals/ News Images which consist of the latest gaming updates, news and upcoming releases… if you’re a Sonic fan you defiantly want to head over to the twitter page for their most recent announcement!

This afternoon the “Inside streamers” second episode went live on YouTube, they came together for a second time by the benches for a good old chit chat… its definitely worth a watch!

To end the day I released the Go2Games “Music2Games” playlist which is our most recommended hits to play whilst gaming, call me bias but our playlist caters to everyone.

Overall it was a really successful day and excited to see what tomorrow brings!

The amazing green glow-in-the-dark Vault Boy will be made available soon, and Pop! Vinyl have reported rumors of it possibly being a Hot Topic exclusive!

We’re not surprised! The above image suggests that our dear Vault Boy will be gaining even more popularity.

Splatoon flies beyond 1m sales worldwide!

Nintendo has announced today that it’s online, and very colourful, shooter game has now sold more than a million copies. This figure includes both physical and digital downloads from the Wii U eShop. 230k were sold in Europe, 368k in North America and 476k in Japan. Nintendo has also said that “thousands” of new players are still joining every day!

The developer has been constantly unlocking new modes, weapons, and maps to the game, and will continue to do so over the summer. This is all for keeping the game fresh.

An upcoming Splatfest tournament, for a limited time, will see the game dive into darkness and have the team-based paint-firing take place with the lights off. Definitely up for giving that one a go!

D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die

There has recently been some controversy that the game may be too “perverted” to release…

The writer and director of Deadly Premonition, Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro, and also PC/Xbox One exclusive D4, has responded to a question about his new game which has been recently asked in an interview…

“I’m also working on a story about a high school girl detective who uses the imagination (fantasising) energy from masturbating to help her solve murders. But all the publishers keep telling me ‘There’s no way we could put out such a perverted game!’…I wish someone would let me make it,” Suehiro aired. 

Access Games, which is the studio that Suehiro works at, is apparently working on new Virtual Reality “stuff”. He was then asked about the possible return of Deadly Premonition, to which he replied – “Deadly Premonition is always on my mind. But I have no idea what form it’ll take, when it’ll appear, who I’ll work on it with, or how I’ll present it. The only answers are in the coffee.”

D4 debuted on the Xbox One last year and gained more than 1.3 million downloads since it’s launch. This does include the time when it was offered as a free download to Xbox Live subscribers also. Steam, GOG, the Humble Store, and Playism will be releasing a PC version on 5th June this year too.

The game may not be for everyone, but it’s a very interesting concept and should be praised for it’s individuality and boundary pushing.
